Coincidentally, this is also the reason show choir "rankings" don't work.

Oh, thank you for reminding me about the difficulties of the task I have waiting ahead of me. But irregardless of what-ever you may choose to think about it, I will have a Final Show Choir Ranking for 2015. THANK YOU!!

Yessss. Sometimes I try to make sports analogies on here and I feel like they never translate well... but I totally got you Jay.

Going along with the sports analogy, the "circle of SEC losses" results in basically almost every SEC team beating itself. That random bit of info that I posted a couple of days ago was really more for people who like to use that in their predictions. I personally do not use them in my predicting unless I have not seen a show for myself, and I should be able to see most if not all of the shows from these groups before SCN.

Attention: 2015 Show Choir Nationals participants

Each year, Show Choir Nationals presents the Sandra and Allen Chapman Outstanding Director Award to one of the directors at the competition. The director who receives this award is chosen by letters written and sent from students of the show choir. Please take the time to submit a letter that entails why your director is so important to you, your school, and the entire show choir community. The winning director will receive an award, a scrapbook with letters submitted by his/her show choir, and a framed copy of the winning letter along with a description of what the award entails.

The deadline for nominations is March 6, 2015

Simply write your letter and send it to:
Show Choir Nationals

Coming from a group that is one of your "extended victories" this doesn't work for show choir. Each competition is different: different judges, different score sheets, different time slots, different venues, different levels of preparedness from each group.

Coincidentally, this is also the reason show choir "rankings" don't work.

Rutgers beat Wisconsin, but only Duke has beaten Wisconsin besides them. Does that mean Rutgers and Duke are on the same level???? NOOOOOOOOO haha (I know, throwing sports analogies into show choir can be confusing )

An extended victory means that someone beat someone who beat someone. Glenwood beat Wheaton who beat Waconia who beat Buffalo Grove, therefore it is an extended victory (not to be confused with an actual victory).

Coming from a group that is one of your "extended victories" this doesn't work for show choir. Each competition is different: different judges, different score sheets, different time slots, different venues, different levels of preparedness from each group. At Sauk Prairie, Washington was at their 2nd competition, while Mt. Zion was at their first. Wash was able to get a lot of comments at Muscatine to tighten up their show. By the time groups get to Nashville, EVERYONE will have tightened their show to peak levels.

Muscatine and Sauk Prairie were VASTLY different competitions. Muscatine was in an auditorium, Sauk Prairie was in a small gym. Some choreographers tend to look better from a gym/auditorium perspective. I personally think Dwight Jordan and Mike Weaver are better from the front, whereas choreographers like Kevin Chase and Damon Brown are really good from balconies due to their staging and the way they use visuals/ripples. Choreographers like Dwight and Mike do a LOT of physical movement (in terms of spacing) and that can look messier from above. The way they use pictures has a lot less to do with ripples/arms and more to do with levels/footwork.

Also, the scoresheets at Muscatine and Sauk Prairie were COMPLETELY opposite from each other. At Muscatine, all judges scored everything in day, and then they split into vocals/visuals at night. At Sauk Prairie, the judges scored day as vocal/visual, and then at night the judges did pure rankings (not as vocal/visual). Not to mention the Muscatine scoresheet placed a LOT of emphasis on staging/visual effectiveness of choreography, where Sauk Prairie scoresheet placed more of their emphasis on show design/pace and execution. Those types of things will totally change results.

Rutgers beat Wisconsin, but only Duke has beaten Wisconsin besides them. Does that mean Rutgers and Duke are on the same level???? NOOOOOOOOO haha (I know, throwing sports analogies into show choir can be confusing )

Regardless of Finalists or the GC, this competition is stacked with wonderful groups. Holy crap I'm so excited.

At this point, we have at least this much for predicting:
1. Petal beat Homewood.
2. Glenwood beat Sullivan.
3. Center Grove beat Sullivan.
4. Buffalo Grove has an extended victory over Mt. Zion.
5. Glenwood has an extended victory over Homewood, Petal, Buffalo Grove, and Mt. Zion.
6. Homewood beat Clover Hill.

Still to come:
1. Homewood vs. Wheaton at Petal (2/28). If Homewood wins, they have an extended victory over Buffalo Grove, Sullivan, Mt. Zion, and Petal.
2. Mt. Zion vs. Sullivan at Glenwood (2/28).
3. Mt. Zion vs. Glenwood at Decatur (2/21).

Glenwood has never beaten Buffalo Grove.

Y'all know that Antwon posted the schedule back in early January right?

It looks like the only change from then to now is Ravenswood "Rave Revue" is no longer attending, thus a couple times got altered.

SCN is always good, but I have a feeling this year will be one for the scrapbooks.

Can we start scrapbooking together?

Well I think Center Grove has a pretty good chance of being in finals... in my opinion-- Mt. Zion is on the chopping block now

At this point, predictions are ridiculous and impossible (I'm not taking away from those who did/will, though.) I am just ecstatic to go and watch all of these absolutely incredible choirs at this amazing venue. SCN is always good, but I have a feeling this year will be one for the scrapbooks.

True, but speculation is fun. Also, I am very jealous that you are able to go to SCN. Nashville is just too far from Tallahassee.
