Pre-season loss. Still undefeated during the actual season.

In doing My Final Ranking, there is no pre-season, and I consider any and all competitions in that school year to be actually regular season! Bring on all the Thumbs Down you want. I consider any judged compeition to be actual. Any-one can change their set and show in mid-season and many do.

I would almost go as far to say that I think Findlay and BG are pretty set for finals...

If you're gonna be there, I highly recommend you check out Westwood "Rebelaires". They come from a town with a population less than 1000 and they have less than 300 students in their entire high school. They are extremely rural from a sparsely populated area of Northwestern Iowa. You would never be able to tell from their show, though. Year after year, Mr. Gerking takes this tiny, 2A sized show choir and makes them a force. The consistency this program has in such a rural area is incredible.

This competition is loaded so Westwood won't challenge for finals, but if you're there, take some time and watch them. They're just such an enjoyable group. And their parents are incredibly kind as well.

I probably will go, but the issue is that Nashville is 8 hours away from where I currently reside, and the last thing I have to do Thursday ends at 5:30 ET. I should be able to see Clover Hill onward (Center Grove if I get up at 5AM).

Since I have not gotten to see all of the groups, I figured that instead of doing traditional prediction, I will group them together based on likeliness of making finals (note: these groupings do not necessarily denote performance ability. The order in which groups are listed is random).

Group 1 - Almost Certain to Make Finals

Hastings "Riverside Company"
Center Grove "Sound System"
Glenwood "Titan Fever"

Group 2 - Likely to Make Finals

Findlay "First Edition"
Buffalo Grove "Expressions"

Group 3 - May Make an Appearance in Finals

Homewood "The Network"
Petal "Soundsations"
Daniel Hand "Vibe"

Group 4 - Likely to Be Just Outside of Finals

Sullivan "Singers"
Clover Hill "New Dimensions"
Mt. Zion "Swingsations"

Group 5 - Likely Not in Finals, but May Pull An Upset

North St. Paul "Northern Lights"
Westwood "Rebelaires"
El-Paso Gridley "Modulations"

Again, these groupings do not say who is on the same performance level. These groupings are likeliness of making finals, which is based primarily on the overall record. IE Homewood and Daniel Hand have both had convincing victories over Clover Hill, so Clover Hill's odds of being in finals are lower since in theory, there are three spots up for grabs when two groups are likely to beat them. Downvote all you want, but these are my groupings and you can find my reasoning by looking at the award records and who each group has defeated and lost to.

They compete with a different show at Ada.

By downplaying or ignoring the Ada results because they do not fit your agenda, you are diminishing the hardwork, dedication and talents of the schools that participated at that competition. Additionally, it is my understanding that there was more than one school that did not use their competition show at Ada.

Findlay is not exactly undefeated this year. Their record says that they have a loss to Twinsburg from way back in November.

The show choir world has truly astounded me as I have watched the art grow over the past five years. Every group is pushing the limits of their success by working even harder as years go by to perfect not only their vocals and choreography, but also their show designs and special "moments" within the show. While looking at this competition earlier in the season, the caliber of the groups competing seemed completely stellar. Obviously, nothing has changed. Haha. A juicy number of competitors also have large reputations to live up to and coincidentally, a lot to lose considering how many groups could honestly snatch one of the lucky six finalist spots. Additionally, this season has brought about some unpredictability in competitions; sometimes this can depend on venue, performance time, or even judges preference. This unpredictability is especially thrilling.

Good luck to all singers, dancers, combo members, crew members, directors, and assistant directors (phew!) in their preparation for what should be a riveting weekend. One day you, I, him, her, or them will be able to say they were a part of something big, but maybe, one day we can all say that we were something big at the beginning of something that seemed so small.

Should be a tight competition. We've got 3 undefeated groups this season (CG, Hastings, Findlay) along with tons of other top notch groups! Sad there's no live feed--I wanted to see Petal's show one more time!

That moment when you realize that you know the President of Show Choir Nationals because he goes to your church... Hang on guys. I'll see if I can get the idea to him.

I don't remember there being a live feed last year, nor in previous years. I suppose that could change though.

Any word yet on the possibility of a live feed?

Not sure yet, I haven't heard anything about it. I hope they live stream it though! I have relatives that can't make it down to see it that want to. A live feed would really help
