Thanks so much to all the posters for the nice comments to Beavercreek. We put on one of our best shows of the season for our seniors, who were at there last comp. So your posts will mean a lot to them, it was some strange day.

Colerain, loved your show! Congrats to the finalists and the winners. Great hosts and we love the St C choir.

First time ever for a judge to tell us our vocals had no dynamics. Yikes!

hands down. great job garfield heights. you got screwed though you deserve better.. and beavercreel ! WTF i'm sorry but that makes me laugh that you didnt get in finals you all should have won the whole thing. i <3 beavercreek.

good job poca and cabell =)

Yesterday was the most fun i've had all season. Poca you were a great group to host and i'm so happy for how well you did. Cabell Midland you guys did awesome yesterday, as well as all the other groups competing.

I am a little disappointed in all the negative feedback this competition is receiving. After all the long hours, hard work, and dedication put into the Showcase of Sound by all the St. C Singer Members and Parents it is really frustrating to hear that this competition was a "JOKE" and " NOT A REAL COMPETITION". I think it is unfair to the St. C Singers to say that and WAY unfair to all the finalist to say that. We were really looking forward to Saturday and to say this competition was a "JOKE" because of the results is very, very disappointing. Every single choir that has ever been to a competition has been unhappy with their placing and the overall results, thats show choir. I say "any given saturday". I wish people would consider and respect the fact that this competition meant a lot to a lot of people.

Congrats to all the choirs especially the finalist you all had shows deserving of the awards you received.
Thanks to everyone who said this was their best competition of the year.

Umm I'm soory kid. You must of not seen colerain or beavercreek. I'm not trying to be rude but they should of slaughtered Edgewood. No offense Beavercreek has amazing vocals. and colerain is up there too. This wasn't a real compititon . . So whoever goes here next I wish u the best of lukc because you'd be stupid to go to this comp. with these judges, they obviously don't know what a real group show sound or look like.

i think u had the right idea but it came off the wrong way...when u said this "competition was a joke" u probly (hopefully) meant to say this "judging" was a joke...lol

also, st. c, AWESOME job hosting yet again...everything ran pretty smoothly and everybody was out of there by like 11 i think, so fantastic job

julie, rachel...i love u...thats all i can say lol

and as my great friend brett said earlier, this has been my fav competition ever...u guys make it work and u make it fun (except ur darn MC's...those guys piss me off)

I know im not supposed to say anything like this, but st. albans wasn't there...so i guess you can just hate me instead of them. I drove up last minute with a friend of mine to catch finals. All i can say is WOW when i saw the groups and then how the judges ranked them i wasn't sure if i was blind and deaf, or if the judges were. I am in utter amazement with the outcomes, and now i understand why our choir doesn't go any more. I don't know who the judges were, or where they are from but I would bet that their placings didn't have anything to do with the performances on the stage.
once again...im the one you should hate...and BTW GO TEAYS great show as usual!

so yeah.. pretty disappointing competition.. my very last one... ever. oh well, i guess im used to getting the shaft this year. maybe im blinded cuz we were really good the past two years, but i think we're still pretty decent... a lot of things should be better, but we definitely didnt deserve to be scored so low... i guess one judge did it? oh well.. im looking forward to competing one last time at cedar point. even tho it wasnt the best year for Esprit, i still enjoyed entertaining and being entertained the past four years.. im gonna miss it!!

great competition overall...i will say that i was VERY surprised with the results and placings...garfield heights, you guys being way behind in 6th place by 30 pts from us after pre-lims is AMAZING, and not in a good way...while i'm not going to complain about the results, i do believe that certain groups were EXTREMELY lucky to get where they did and i mean EXTREMELY in the most extreme (excuse the pun) fashion...overall, congrats to everyone, especially to :

teays valley: fantastic show, the 2nd number was flippin awesome...i loved it...and how did u guys get the hats on stage?? congrats on ur GC

garfield heights: AWESOME nighttime show...i loved every second of it...supergeek is the greatest song ever in show choir, hands down

poca: you guys gave an awesome performance and one to be proud of, and while you didn;t get where you may have wanted to be, you did amazingly and you should be very proud of yourselves, i kno i am and my lack of a voice today shows it

cabell midland: great representation of WV...you guys did a great job...i wanna monkey, monkey around

and thank you st. c for again making this comp my fav of the year

I can honestly say from experience that there are in fact three aspects of a competition that MAKE or break a competition. The first is the judging panel. The second being the food at the comp site. The third is the performance site itself.

One important lesson to be learned is what you gained from the experience. Ratings aside for all groups involved, what did you LEARN from this experience. Through all of the rehearsals, previous performances and this one, you all need to keep in mind how you grew as a person through all of this.

Great job to all performing groups yesterday. Good luck to all groups going to Wapak!

excuse me, but WHO do you think you are? how can you say that this wasn't even a competition, that it was all a joke? this is the one of the only competitions i have been to where the judges didn't go for 'glitz and glam'. this competition was based on vocals and choreo, what it is supposed to be. obviously you have no knowledge of either of these things if you believe the things that you said.

im not saying this becuase you might think im bitter with edgewood beating garfield, but if you look at the scores from the daytime (and i mean every groups score, judge by judge and overall) you definately would say that this competition was a HUGE joke. it is almost impossible to have BC not in finals or Colerain, and southwestern definately shouldnt have been that far down in the rankings. and i kno that other directors from other schools (including some of those from groups that made it to finals) said that the scoring for this was ridiculous. and looking at the judges sheets, there were no comments on any sheet submitted and no comments on the tapes either, so if they were to take off points, they should atleast have told us why they did.

Preliminary Placing

1st Edgewood
2nd Teays valley
3rd Wapakoneta
4th Cabell Midland
5th Poca
6th Garfield Heights

these placing going in to finals were the biggest joke I have ever seen at a show choir comp ever...the judges were extremely unqualified and many groups were judged extremely unfairly Beavercreek and Colerain were robbed and BC should have place in the top 3.
Finals Placing

5th Runner Up- Poca
4th Runner Up- Cabell Midland
3rd Runner Up-Wapakenita
2nd Runner Up-Garfield Heights
1st Runner Up- Edgewood
GC-Teays Valley

As for finals the night judge added evened out the scores as much as he could but these placing were still a little wacky....to all choirs competing here don’t even worry about it this wasn’t a real competition and the placing were not fair or realistic and they basically mean nothing

-Garfield, your show in finals was crazy and the energy was trough the roof...you guys dance like none other and you should have won best choreography in your class for sure…I also liked the noises you made during you opener dance break your group really pulls it off

not all the judges actually did a bad job judging (mostly). there was one judge that screwed everything up. he had after prelims Edgewood at 295.5 (1st place) and the next closest group in Teays Valley at about 20 points behind them and from there on everything practically went to hell. we finished prelims 60 POINTS BEHIND 1ST PLACE!!! if that isnt disgusting, i dont kno wut is.

our finals performance was definately our best show ever for any express group before us. the talk that the group had after daytime awards were sooo funny because of how everything worked out. our directors told us we could do pretty much everything that we wanted to do during the season that they said we werent allowed to do. i mean, with the judging, we couldnt get any farther down, right? i definately had the greatest time of my life during our finals performance and i soooo wish that we could redo the scoring or something with the one judge that screwed everything up. and btw, how did ya'll like the alternate lyrics to supergeek that i decided to change at the last moment. that was one thing that we wanted to change that we couldnt, and so wish we coulda done it earlier in the season. atleast i kno in my heart that the last competitive performance with this group was THE BEST EVER!!! im gonna miss all the drama that happened this season at competitions just like this one.

Edgewood you guys did a fantastic job yesterday. It was a great show concept with great songs, executed perfectly. I love how you guys always let your personality shine through when you are singing, and how you always put that bit of comedy in your show. I hope you guys come back next year, because I am really looking forward to what new ideas you will put together for next years show. You guys were amazing!!! Your host - Steve
