St.C choir members, thanks for all of the hardwork you did. The choir members as individulals, great.

However, the judging at your competition... not so much.

I would just like to say that i was there observing, and the results left me wondering what money was being passed around and/or what directo is sleeping with what judge(s).

And to whoever said that the judges all have musical degrees: WRONG!
they don't all have degrees. and secondly, most of them do not seem to belong at a show choir competition.

TV and Garfield, congrats, i think you deserved to be in the finals for sure.

I do want to point out that personally (and i think MANY others agree with me ) there were alot of groups that made it into the finals that deff should not have been there.

Beavercreek and Colerain both have crushed Wapak before. (no offense Wapak, just clear cut stats). I also feel that they both are better than Edgewood. And sure, everyone from Edgewood is geting on here pissing themselves because they feel they deserved their spot. However, I would like to point out that the only people who have said good things about Edgewood, are people from Edgewood.

But either way my goal is not to sit on showchoir.com all day and bash show choirs so congrats to everyone and I'm glad the season ended well for SOME. And to Edgewood, I'm sorry that everyone is getting on your case, so a special congats to you all.

This was just uncalled for . . . . .

thanks for the congrats but we are not the only ones who have said good things about us there have been other people on here that have congradulated us. But I've figured out that people who are still dwelling and whining over the judges mistakes just need to stop I mean come onjust get over it already. Now Im not trying to start another debate Im trying to get everyone to stop the debating. So come on guys lets just forget about it. But I really do thank you for the congrats whoever posted b4 me.

ps CONGRATS Teays, Garfield, Poca, Cabell Midlan sorry i dont kno how to spell it, Wapak. We all deserved it we all worked our butts off for those placings so dont let anyone try to take it from you guys

I realize that was pointed out, since Linda Cowan was obviously the listed judge for the competition. But hey, where would we be without Captain Obvious(es)? " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Well if this person would've read the topic, he would've seen that a person has already noted that Kim Edwards didn't adjudicate this competition.

a very smart person I might add

If you are referring to the Hurricane that's from West Virginia, that's wrong. Linda Cowan isn't their director. That would be Kim Edwards.

Kim Edwards was NOT a judge at St. Clairsville, just wanted to clarify that.

I watched every performance in the morning and afternoon and there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that Edgewood deserved to be in finals. Very polished vocally and visually, I thought their show was the most entertaining show all day thanks in part to their song selections.

I think some people choirs are forgetting the importance of song selection. People love hearing songs they know. And when you have to sit through 20+ minutes of music you've never heard before, it’s gotta be pretty amazing stuff to not drift off. I think that could have easily affected a choirs' score.

That's why I'm a huge fan of the system that Mr. Berk at St.C has in place. Each spring the incoming senior class meets and decides on next year's show. The kids will sing things they know, which means they'll be things most of the audience will know.
Also one final observation

SHOW CHOIR IS 100% SUBJECTIVE. DON'T WORRY WHAT JUDGES THINK, YOU SHOULDN'T PERFORM FOR THEM, YOU DO IT FOR THE AUDIENCE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOURSELF.

Well put Eric...I totally agree.Mr. Berk has a great system. I loved picking songs, it was fun

Hmm, well... as much as i love reading arguments on SCC I would reccomend moving them to PM's. The mods are watching the boards and I don't think they'd hesitate to shut down a competition board after it happend.

I think everyone has said enough on this whole matter and now you are all beating a dead horse.

Alright i have read everyone of these arguments up to the post before mine and all I have to say is this just doesnt sound right. There always will be upset and also you have to remember....put reputations away and everyone competition is a new ground. Edgewood to my knowledge and to the results here brought it that day. I beleive that last year Beavercreek beat US at kettering. They brought it that day. There a good choir and I was happy that my friends in the show choir won. But people had to go make a big deal about it. Judges are qualified or I'm sure the director of the school wouldnt have picked them. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! Edgewood great job. Keep going into competitions with confidence and do your best like you have done in the past. I know Colerain and Beavercreek have great programs and they try their hardest at every place. I respect the kids in the groups and maybe they got screwed. To the judges maybe they didnt. I for one thought they should have made finals but to yell at edgewood and to say they dont deserve it just doenst settle well with me. Once again congrats to edgewood. and im sorry for the ranting and raving i just presented. please dont take offense anyone
Oh congrats to all that competed and way to go teays!!

* warning- dont judge my group on what i just said (if anything i said upsets you tell me and handle it with me)*
