We would definitely consider it except that it conflicts with UNI's Tall Corn jazz band festival. Since almost our entire combo is also in jazz band we simply can't compete this weekend.

What date would work? haha

I'm sorry to hear about the memorial service. We wish you could join us... but, you'll just have to bring Studio and Vitality next year to make up for it!

Just to remove some of the suspense from Jorge's questions and I know you're all dying to know. I won't be able to attend Great River after all. I have a memorial service to go to Saturday morning here in Des Mones. Good luck to all of the competing groups and I hope it gets over long before midnight.

No, it's not at a high school. It is at the RiverCenter/Adler Theatre which is a convention space connected to a theatre. The theatre is quite old but recently renovated, the convention center is a great big open area with several rooms, including a couple of almost airplane hangar sized rooms, including the "Homerooms".

I believe that it is still this way. The groups including all singer/dancers, band, crew, props, instruments, and everything else are brought in from the back of the theatre, through the left side (stage right) of the audience, through a door and up onto the stage.

Yes... yes... and yes.

It's a fantastic venue! I will be starring in a promotional DVD for the promoting of Great River 2009... when it's released soon after Great River 2008, people will finally understand what we are talking about when we throw around words like... air plane hangers, "Home Squares" (more like rectangles), convention center, renovated theatre, etc. It will be exciting!

You SCC oldie posters and directors who attend "Great River"- Watch out... I may just snag you for a personal interview for the DVD!!

Surprisingly... they are really fun. You get to mix and mingle with all of your neighbors and see tons of bright and pretty costumes all day long! It's great!

I also lied about one of my "Will ___?" questions... here is a hint... TROLLS!

I'm getting very excited for this competition! I really get to see all sides of it... like today... I helped put cheese and sour cream into small containers for the walking tacos. On the other end of that, I help with getting schools to come. It's all one big army of volunteers and parents all helping to put on the best competition in Iowa!

This is true. It is not at a high school, because neither West or Central(mostly Central) could not host a competition by ourselves. So we have the Adler Theater, which is even better than a high school aud.

And yes instead of homerooms, there are "homeroom squares".

More exciting than driving straight across Nebraska!

So...this has bothered me for a while...but when does everyone think this competition will actually get over? I'm shooting for about 11:30-12:00 PM.

One never knows!

Make sure to catch Davenport West "West Connection"... they will be performing their show right before finals. It's going to be their most fun performance of the year!

Yea, most likely! Hopefully not though because there are only two exhibition shows and even though it says Central Singers, Inc. is performing at the end of finals, we're actually kicking off finals and they are doing things a little different so hopefully we finish a little earlier than expected! lol

It would be so awesome. I just mapquested it. Its only 4hrs and 40min and 309.5 miles. Its kind of sad that there are only 6 steps to getting there though. Wow, Iowa is awesome.
