Tara Tober received her BA in Dance with a concentration in Jazz from the Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts and currently is a professor for the Kent State University dance department . She is a nationally recognized show choir choreographer, clinician and competition adjudicator. Her innovative work over the past 15 years has spanned hundreds of different high school and college performing ensembles throughout 13 states and has won multiple awards for show design and choreography. She has a broad and very well-rounded training, having studied under some of the greatest dance masters alive (both around the USA and abroad) for the past 35 years. Her studies have included ballet, modern, tap, hip hop, jazz, and international dance. Tara has taught all ages of students - from toddlers to seniors - for the past 17 years.
She spent four years training and dancing in Chicago, where she was a principle dancer for the Dunco Funk Hip Hop Dance Company, held internships with both the Gus Giordano Dance company and the Lou Conte Dance Studio (Hubbard Street Dance Chicago), and spent a year as an alternate for the Radio City Rockettes. She currently resides in Northeast Ohio and is continuing to travel and design staging for show choirs and musicals, adjudicate and critique. She is choreographer for the Akron School for the Arts VPA (Visual and Performing Arts) magnet program as well as the Akron All-City Musicals. Most recently she stepped into the exciting world of social dancing and competing - primarily West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, and Hustle.
