Thank you everyone! It was such a fun competition. I had a great time, and my Senior year has been amazing. Lets see, I wish I could have seen some of the groups, but unfortunetly, I only saw In-Step. NOT BAD at all. Congratz to Urbandale "Vitality", i wish I could have seen your show, I guess we will see it at Urbandale, lol.

Wow, a great comp! From my point of view (audience member), it seemed like the judging was pretty much "spot on". Congrats to all the competitors! It was a very entertaining evening

There sure were a lot of "wardrobe malfuntions" (broken dress strap, guy's shirt on backwards, dancers without shoes)!

Our favorite number was Prairie's "Fly Like an Eagle/Dust in the Wind". That took our breath away!

Thanks to the Linn-Mar people for such a good job!

Today, We had an eight hour rehersal with Dr. Eklund. During a break, I got the chance to speak with him for about twenty minutes. We talked about numerous topics spanning from show choir to Texas. He told me "I'm judging at Linn Mar this weekend, all I know who is going is Ankeny and Urbandale, who else is?" So, I filled him in. He had no clue Jefferson was attending.

Dr. Eklund is such a classy guy. I don't think anyone should be worried about odd results.

I change my blind predictions-

Grand Champion- Urbandale "Studio 2006"
1st Runner Up- Ankeny "Visual Adrenaline"
2nd Runner Up- Bemidji "Vocalmotive"
3rd Runner Up- Cedar Rapids Kennedy "Happiness, Inc."
4th Runner Up- Sioux City East "The Headliners"
5th Runner Up- West Deleware "WD Forte" or Cedar Rapids Prairie "The Ambassadors"

I'm switching my blind predictions... again...

Grand Champion- Urbandale "Studio 2006"
1st Runner Up- Ankeny "Visual Adrenaline"
2nd Runner Up- Cedar Rapids Kennedy "Happiness, Inc."
3rd Runner Up- Bemidji "Vocalmotive"

4th Runner Up- Sioux City East "The Headliners"
5th Runner Up- West Deleware "WD Forte" or Cedar Rapids Prairie "The Ambassadors"

I'm putting hope, faith, and love in one of my favorite show choirs of all time. Go "Happiness, Inc."

Kennedy and Urbandale, I'll be crossing my fingers for both of you while I'm judging at Beavercreek. Break your legs, have fantastic shows and tons of fun, and represent the work you've done in a way that'll make you proud. It's always my honor to work with both of you, and I know you'll be awesome this Saturday! God Bless and go for it! Damon

Im curious as to how things might end up it if is Jefferson and us battling for one of the last finals' spots or something of that nature with Pete Eklund on the panel.

I don't mean to pile on, but I find it hard to believe that Dr. Ecklund would favor Jefferson in a competition. If for no other reasons than he has arranged music and has helped other groups in this competition more recently than when he was at Jefferson.

However, I also must disagree with those that say that trying to give reasoning for the way a judge may score a competition is somehow wrong. We all do it in one form or another, and until the politics is taken out of judging show choir, I think it is fair to try to give reasons for why people do things.

Just my two cents, take it or leave it, but why would you leave money lying around?

sleep-v. 1.to be in a state of rest and relaxation. 2. show choir students don't do this before first comp. most just "doze" or lapse back and forth between semi-consciousness ready to jump forth at a moments notice, and complete and total awakeness. It is this time when most of these students realize there are stains on the celings of their bedrooms. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

We have 10 returning members and 34 new members this year.

Hmmmm....That was ankeny's situation last year(2005) they lost alot of people after the 2004 year, and look how good they were last year. im really excited for this year, just wish i could make it to linn-mar, but classes here are my first priority.

im going to hafta agree with you on this one. Kennedy lost so many seniors... I think the returning count was either 11 or 13.... this is a fairly young group. their show was mostly vocals last year and I'm in the opinion that they do not have as strong of vocals as last year. Yes, Linn-Mar judges tend to favor them, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they didnt get Top 3. I fully expect them to make finals, though. This is going to be an extremely tight competition. I cannot wait to see results!
