well said OHshow choirfan...show choir is a type of thing that encouragement and support for everyone should be practiced by everyone...if you're only there to win, then you shouldn't be there at all

even with the amazing day, i did have a problem...i sat where hurricane was sitting the entire day and i was honestly shocked and amazed at the fact that almost NOBODY up in that section stood or even applauded for anyone but their own group and spoke nothing but ill of EVERY group that got on stage but their own...it's very disrespectful and immature and it makes our great state look very bad the way it's represented...good performances in pre-lims and finals though

While in a way I tend to agree with you, I wasn't really sitting near the Hurricane fans, but I do know that they tend to scream extremely loud for their own group...but I don't think you can go a day without being able to notice something like that, and I'm glad that parents can be so into their own group, it's really encouraging. However, if parents are NOT cheering for other groups and speaking ill the entire time, then shame on them.

While I was in line waiting for food, I actually heard from a member of a different choir that DID make finals that they hoped ANOTHER finals group would "die on the way here."

Now maybe it's just me, but I try not to go against an entire group because of comments that I hear from a few of their people. While I was disappointed to hear such a thing from a choir member, I'm not about to just start judging their entire choir. And, in light of recent events (6 Bluffton University baseball players killed in a coach bus crash, not to mention the deaths of the three show choir members from Enterprise), I think that we should all take the time at competitions to really make sure our intentions are that everyone should do their best and make sure we cheer for everyone.

amazing competition! Marysville..you guys were amazing! it blew me away to watch you guys up there, I was so proud of you guys! I could tell you guys worked yourself to the bone up there on stage, and the results payed off!

and Clinton, amazing show! Probably one of my favorite shows of the year all together! Choreo was so clean it made my head hurt..and your vocals (esp. at night) blew my mind..great job! not to mention the parents of Attache people I talked to were so friendly!!

I know many people will disagree with what I have to say, but I am prepared for that, so for people that get satisfaction out of bashing everyones opinion, you won't be hurting my feelings. I have been around show choir for a long time and was at the competiton ALL DAY yesterday. I am an no way affiliated with any of the groups, I was simpily a traveling spectator, as many were I'm sure. Anyway, heres what I thought...

Norwell- I was very impressed. I will be honest, I forgot all about you until they announced that you made finals, and then remembered that you guys were awesome and deserved your spot in finals over some of the bigger named groups. Your vocals were very good, esp. for 24 singers. Beautiful opening costumes. Keep working hard.

Findlay- To me, you guys were the best group of the night. Your day performance was very dry but you kicked it into gear for finals and blew everyone away vocally. Your choreography was cleaner than any year I have ever seen you. The tap break should have put you in 3rd place alone. You have a level of professionalism that I have yet to see anyone else meet. Better diction in the 2nd song would probably help boost the vocal scores. Beautiful ballad.

Hurricane- I have always been a fan of your shows. Your opener was awesome, although I did like it better when EEE did it a few years back. Ballad soloists rocked. The closer was AMAZING. Entertaining show to say the least. You commit to everything you do and it shows on the stage. My only complaint is your choreography. It is clean and energetic, so you are no doubt doing your best, I think the best solution would be a new choreographer. Great show!

EEE- WOW! I was blown away. The level of energy you guys had surpassed every group. I loved your choreography and combo. Vocals were a bit shaky, but there were def. moments were I thought they were awesome. I said "Wow" during your show more times than I did when I watched any other group. You were my biggest surprise of the night, (besides my disappointment in Clinton, but thats for later.) Keep entertaining, you guys are great.

Marysville- Very forgettable to me. You guys are def. good, but you were better last year. I think a lot of it has to do with the song selection. The entire show is slow until the closer, which surprises me because you guys usually dance a lot. Beautiful ballad and wonderful blend throughout the entire show. Amazing female soloist (Ashley Morgan) I feel like your very good front row performers carry the group. I was just left wanting more after I saw you. Your crescendos are great but don't get loud enough and there were times that I could barely hear you. I've seen you a few other times this year and I felt you did better at all the other places. Were you guys tired?

Clinton- Amazing opener, until the soloist is done. I have seen almost every Clinton show and this was by far my least favorite. The ballad was the worst ballad of the night. The girls song was barely audible, I thought it was a solo until I saw all the girls mouths moving. The guys song was ok. The closer was ok. The Dream Girls soloist was ok. The Dirty Dancing song was ok, I did love the lift. The costumes were amazing, the set was big, but cluttered and took way too long to set up in prelims. The girls were beautiful and the guys handsome. The choreography was challenging and good. I feel like you totally rode on your name with this one. I am as big a Clinton fan as any person, but I won't just love them because they are Attache, and I also won't make them compete against themselves. The show was just average to me.

Fairfield- Amazing competition and AMAZING show. You would have won had you not been hosting. I loved everything about your show. One thing though...stop using old Laff Jeff ballads. It only makes people compare you to what they used to be, which will be a hard thing for ANYONE to match. But like I said, best show of the night.

I think scoring should have went-

Vocals:
1- Findlay
2- Marysville
3- Hurricane
4- EEE
5- Norwell
6- Clinton

Choreography:
1- EEE
2- Clinton
3- Findlay
4- Marysville
5- Hurricane
6- Norwell

Overall-
1- Findlay
2- EEE
3- Marysville
4- Hurricane
5- Clinton
6- Norwell

In the daytime marysville was behind by 40pts. in finals marysville cut that in half and the rest of those are pretty accurate, yes marysville won best vocals, then hurricane that clinton.. thats correct. Marysville lost choro. to clinton by 23, and marysville beat clinton in vocals by 21... clinton band won in daytime by 1 pt... so close... it was an amazing comp. everyone stepped it up!

Sweet, I understood 29 points because Clinton received a 10 point penalty for going over time in prelims...thanks for the correction though!

WOW!!! what an amazing day of show choir and, like rian said, the best competition i've EVER been to...amazing job to everyone:

clinton - you definately lived up to your hype...i was amazed by your show, as i believe it was due...honestly, i expected a clean sweep for you guys...especially after seeing everyone else in finals, i expected best choreo and vocals to go to you...in prelims, the vocals weren't exactly up to par with what i've heard out of you guys before, but they were still fantastic...the choreography was wow!...the band was thunderous and just simply amazing...congrats on a MUCH DESERVED GC

marysville - i love the show! i loved last years show, but i like this one even better...vocals were terrific and choreo was as well...congrats to mr alfera...congrats on 1RU and best vocals

eisenhower - AWESOME improvement over the performance in pre-lims...i really wanted to see you guys make finals and you made it...the finals performance was awesome...great job

findlay - like eisenhower, awesome in the nighttime round...i actually had you guys in 2nd going into awards...you're guys vocals are top notch and the choreo is tight and precise...band was awesome too...i don't really like tap numbers at all (in fact, i've never seen one that i actually liked much lol), but yours was awesome...congrats

norwell - awesome job for such a small group...you remind me of another jason johnson-choreographed school, southwestern, just with your vocal power and great choreography...it was nice to see a small school make finals

franklin central - oh, boy...you guys did such a good job in pre-lims...i was sure that you locked in a finals position, but it wasn't so...vocals and choreography was very precise and i just really liked your show overall

even with the amazing day, i did have a problem...i sat where hurricane was sitting the entire day and i was honestly shocked and amazed at the fact that almost NOBODY up in that section stood or even applauded for anyone but their own group and spoke nothing but ill of EVERY group that got on stage but their own...it's very disrespectful and immature and it makes our great state look very bad the way it's represented...good performances in pre-lims and finals though

sorry for the ranting and raving, but it just was offensive to a fellow west virginian...anyways, great job to EVERYONE on a fantastic/amazing/stupendous day and good luck with the rest of your seasons...i would have had finals:

GC: Clinton (Best Vocals/Choreo/Band)
1RU: Findlay
2RU: Eisenhower
3RU: Marysville
4RU: Hurricane
5RU: Norwell

crazy, i know...does anyone know the official point totals?

Wow, what an excellent competition, the break down from what I heard before finals:

Clinton
Marysville -29
Hurricane -1
Eisenhower -2
Findlay -1

I'm not exactly sure about that, but that's what I heard.

Additionally, I understood the vocal results from finals:

1) Marysville
2) Hurricane
3) Clinton

Again, I'm not 100% sure on that, so if anyone knows something else, let me know.

Really really awesome competition everyone!

Franklin Central, you came super close, but it just didn't happen for you yesterday. Mr Griffel said it was one of your best shows all year, so I can only be proud of you guys and the work you put into your set.

Beavercreek, you've got 2 more biggies coming up, so get back to it. You've had a great year, but yesterday just wasn't your day. Have faith in yourselves and get ready to jump back into it. God Bless, Damon Brown

yay!!!!!!!!!! usually i try to keep a certain level of decorum when i post - i don't know, makes me feel important or something - but these results make me so happy that i'm beyond worrying about such things right now.

yes, Marysville didn't win, but i never expected that. as with any competition, all i hoped for my favorite bunch of people was for them to put on their best show yet. and though i wasn't there to see it in person, finding a First Runner-Up and Best Vocals next to my alma mater's name proves to me that the Swingers left it on the stage today. i really couldn't be prouder. congratulations to all the schools that made finals at one of the most difficult competitions in the country this year. congratulations to Marysville for all of your hard work (and for winning a caption over Clinton(!!!)), and congratulations to Clinton for continuing your streak.

I had such a blast hosting Marysville today. A great group of Kids! The directors are lucky to have such great kids. I am so glad that I meet so many new swingers and made a lot of new friends. I am also glad I got to see old friewnds and make new ones.

Finals were absolutely fantastic. Attache is unbelieveable and MAryville totally stepped it up. Sorry, I didn't get to see any other groups.
