"In 2010, they won Best Vocal at SCN without the microphones being turned on."

That is now my number one in top ten most hardcore things I've ever heard a show choir do...

I was there. They looked and sounded out of this world!

I thought I would be bold and make some predictions.

1RU: Burbank "In Sync" (BB)

Unless rules have changed or Burbank has changed their band make-up, I do not think they qualify due to adults in the Combo.

Waubonsie Valley is definitely one of the best groups in the nation, but I don't really think that you can count Burbank out on this one. Historically, yes, Burbank doesn't start competing until mid-Match; however, according to their calendar, they would have competed two times by March 8th. Their show would most definitely be ready to compete with the show choir world's best groups.

Furthermore, in 2011, Burbank went to Fairfield's competition in early March with no previous competition record for that year, competed in a large gymnasium, and walked away as Grand Champions with Best Vocals, and Best Choreography (not to mention a perfect score from one of the judges).

I also find it needless to say that Burbank is definitely one of the strongest groups vocally. In 2010, they won Best Vocal at SCN without the microphones being turned on.

This competition will definitely be a close one since there are so many fantastic groups; it just seems a bit premature to count out Burbank especially since they're one of the finest show choirs around.

For a group at Burbank's level, especially in 2011 with that amazing show, anything but sweeping Fairfield would have been a failure.. This competition is so beyond the 2011 Crystal Classic when it comes to competitive consistency of groups attending. The two contests are practically incomparable.

To predict finals at this point seems impossible, but I do believe that predicting the grand champion is a little less difficult. To me, this is a competition for Waubonsie to lose. I understand that Burbank is an amazing group, and it may indeed come down to WV and Burbank competing for the championship, but I just don't see Burbank winning. By March 8, Burbank will have competed maybe 1 time. Also, Claifornia groups are spoiled and are used to theatres and auditoriums for performances. Performing in a gym at the beginning of the season seems to me like two major strikes against InSync. Waubonsie will be in midseason form, maybe even at their peak, and have won the Choral Classic every year they have attended.
In my opinion, Waubonsie comes into this competition and sweeps. Burbank's vocals would be their only saving grace, but against Mark Myers and WV, nobody stands a chance vocally.

absolutely agree - picking 6 groups and leaving some of the others off this list seems ridiculous to me, so I'm not even gonna try (not that I do a whole lot of predicting anyway).

Sad I planned my honeymoon over the top of this contest - what was I thinking? First one I'll miss since WWS started a comp.

So excited!!!! Can't wait to see these amazing groups and spend five days in one of my favorite cities with some of my most favorite people. I thought I would be bold and make some predictions.

GC: Waubonsie Valley "Sound Check" (BV, BC)
1RU: Burbank "In Sync" (BB)
2RU: Buffalo Grove "The Expressions"
3RU: Prospect "Mixed Company"
4RU: Mt. Zion "Swingsations"
5RU: Decatur "Elite Energy"

I would say these groups also have a great chance of making finals:

Solon "Music In Motion"
Omaha Westside "ATSC"
Mitchell "Friend De Coup"

Everyone is going to bring their A game, and this is going to be one epic competition.

You guuuuyysss, this competition is gonna be so awesooommee. I'm pumped to see Waubonsie and Burbank go head to head. If I'm not mistaken, they have yet to compete against each other. :D

For finalists I'm thinking:

Waubonsie
Burbank
Buffalo-Grove
ATSC
Mt. Zion

Last spot up for grabs by
Decatur
Mitchell
Mt. Prospect

Should be super exciting!!

All right, the best fast-food chicken sandwich on the planet. Tell me where I can get a better one for five bucks.

And this was my wildest post: http://www.showchoir.com/events/event.php?id=482&pid=519538#519538

And this was the best comment on one of my posts: http://www.showchoir.com/events/event.php?id=482&pid=520646#520646

Does anyone know when the Advanced Women's Division is for this competition? Is it the same day as the Advanced Mixed or is it a different day?
