And an excellent conclusion to the Jeremy Alfera era

Congratulations... you made a kid cry....
Lets hope it really isnt the end, though! (knock on wood)

This makes me so sad. There's nothing I'd love more to see him stay. Marysville would miss him too much.

Findlay is the only school here that I've seen live this year, but based on results, these are my predictions:

GC: Marysville (I'm giving them the edge because of the situation with their program. They are gonna want it BAD)
1ru: Hastings
2ru: Findlay
3ru: Loveland (although they've certainly proven themselves capable of placing higher)
4ru: Clover Hill
5ru: Totino Grace/Jefferson

BV: Hastings/Findlay
BC: Marysville/Loveland
BB: Clover Hill

This is really going to be a blood bath. I narrowed it down as best I could having only seen one of these choirs live and not seeing a few of them even on Youtube. Should be interesting to see how it plays out!

Haha I keep posting after you Patrick. I still wouldn't rule out Loveland or Findlay. Loveland has been going back and forth between Marysville. But also despite the award record I could see Marysville winning. At every competition excluding Beavercreek Marysville hasn't been two far from winning their other ones. All the scores were super tight so as long as Marysville continues to polish their show this could be an awesome opportunity. And an excellent conclusion to the Jeremy Alfera era

haha! Blah! I keep forgetting Loveland! I agree though.

Based off of what I've seen now, I believe it's between Hastings and Marysville.

I know this is completely off topic, but this is one of my favorite competitions of the year. I know the competition is not for a couple of weeks, but I wish everyone the best of luck and hope everyone will have fun performing. I mean c'mon, it's the Grand Ole Opry.

But for jdl, I'm basing mine off of what I know about the groups from what I have seen. I have not seen hastings but they seem like a very good group and I have seen their performance on youtube. I do not know about Jefferson and have never seen them so I am looking forward to that. As for Marysville, Loveland, and Findlay placements. I am basing them off of what I have seen in terms of vocals and choreography and placements at majority of competitions.

Thanks for sharing as I was just curious. I was just pointing out that the two groups have had similar placements throughout the year including Poca where Loveland led in prelims and Marysville swept in finals. It will also be interesting to see how prelims at SCN go with Marysville performing as the very first group the previous night and Loveland performing last the next day. When I get to predictions I will likely also "predict" Marysville above Loveland. I'm just generating conversation.

QUOTE (Last Chaos @ Mar 15 2013, 11:59 AM) *

I could easily just predict who is going to be in finals, but that's no fun. There's not nearly as much thinking involved and we should share are opinions and not be hated for them. This goes for everyone. Those are my thoughts.

Think of it as a marathon instead of a sprint. Some people are more comfortable with steps instead of throwing it all out there at once. After all, it is still three weeks away. So predicting finalists is an earlier step to predicting final placements. Clover Hill and Loveland go head to head at a very tough Teays Valley Classic this weekend and Marysville is also competing against a strong Indiana choir at the Lebanon Classic this weekend. For me, I like making the most informed prediction I can make, so I am personally waiting until after this weekend to consider placements. And some others might as well so it's just something to consider.

After the season has progressed I'd change my finalists predictions to

Clover Hill
Findlay
Hastings
Loveland
Jefferson
Marysville

Totino seems to be on a very off year this year.

Aww, our predictions are the same!

Hahaha. Well Los Al's comp has 5 groups in that tier. Here there's like 8 or 9 groups that could place high let alone make finals.

That's exactly what makes predictions fun.

Haha, I just hate "predictions" with multiple choirs in a spot. Those aren't predictions either, just a broad guess. I could "predict" that Burbank, Burroughs, Twinsburg, and Wheaton will make the top 4 at Los Al, but pretty much everyone but Homewood is guessing that. Man up and make a choice! You don't get penalized if you are wrong!

Yeah their best is only 3ru and they did make finals once this year already. Sad

People just apparently get cranky if you don't rate their group first (or high enough where they think they "should" place). It's kind of like someone who predicts results in the order they want things to go, not the way they think it really will. That's not a prediction, of course, that's just a... wish? haha. I don't know, I think people need to really chill out when it comes to predictions, but I am glad people are still participating even though prediction posts often get downvoted. I especially appreciate ones like yours that give detailed reasoning behind the thought process. I don't know how someone could give that a thumbs down. At the very least, if they don't agree, they could make a follow-up post with their own prediction and (maturely state) why they think the results will come out differently. But I suppose that's asking too much.

Thank you haha and I agree

2 people apparently don't like anyone's predictions! haha.

Loveland did place above Marysville at Fairfield's competition. I was there as well and have already shared my thoughts. However, at Poca and Twinsburg, Marysville beat Loveland by around 30 points and I do not know the scoring of other competitions they competed at. Loveland has very good choreography that is high energy and very clean and I love their show, I think Marysville is quite a bit stronger vocally though. Not in terms of volume where they are about even (that only matters for coolness in my opinion anyway) but in terms of musicality.

Findlay's show is great especially in the opener and they have fantastic tone but vocals go down quite a bit in the closer with the tapping to a non jazzy song which I don't tap by any means, but I've heard it's very difficult. I do like their show though and their vocals will be higher up. Marysville lost to Solon by 1 point at Twinsburg's competition and I had no idea who would win there when I was watching. They were evenly matched in my opinion. Solon has beaten Findlay twice this year at Marysville and Medina. So off of scoring that is how i base that. Otherwise it's just from what I've seen.

For Clover Hill's Placement, I could see Findlay above them from what I've heard from seeing Piqua and having Piqua compared to Clover Hill and the scoring between them. I could see Clover Hill higher as well because of their general hype and their normal placing. I have not seen them so I cannot say for sure.

This is show choir though, so these could all be changed around a lot depending on the judging!

Side note: I don't understand why people get so mad at predictions. For instance, when I predict finals placements it is based off of past placements and comparisons to other groups and what I have seen in the performances. It is more for fun. I could easily just predict who is going to be in finals, but that's no fun. There's not nearly as much thinking involved and we should share are opinions and not be hated for them. This goes for everyone. Those are my thoughts.

No matter what, It's going to be a great competition and finals is going to be incredible! I'm looking forward to it
