Burbank = holy wow!!

I just had to tell you that your guy's show was amazing. The best I've seen all year! Your energy was incredible and your outfits were sooo cute!!! Your soloists were awesome and I'm pretty sure I'm in love with the guy who sang with that girl. [haha sorry I don't know specific names] I totally melted for him though!!! The whole ride home on the bus people from my group were singing songs from your show. You guys did fantastic!

haha i think you mean Kory Stevens --he was singing along side Samantha Regal~
(btw: they both participated in the soloist competition and were amazing =D)

I HAD SOOO MUCH FUN!!!
Mundelein was such a great experience~ It was great that the ladies were able to participate in the finals which made us SOOO PUMPED UP during prelims! our final show was so much fun to do. Alot of us started to cry and hug each other after our show because we felt so good about what we did.

To all the mixed groups: You guys had such amazing energy and i couln't stop talking about how everyone on the stage seamed to light up. All of guys were so fun to watch and just made us more excited to see who would be in finals.

ANDD to the hosts of IMPRESSIONS: thanks for hosting usss~!!! The chairs that were set up in the room were soo amazing... the round pink one was fought over alot. All we did was want to curl up in a ball and sleep in it. haha. (all the seniors decided that our future dorm rooms will have that chair in it no matter what)

Okay...I totally love Waubonsie Valley...you guys are amazing! Yes I am little biased considering I did host them, but they were great! Their style was awesome, their diction improved soooo much going into the night show (which is crazy hard to do considering the song "Backwards"!!!). I never though a show choir could pull off that song, you definitely did, and with the best male soloist! Your show totally drew everyone in, it had so many different kinds of songs and everything, it was great!
Thank you so much for the awesome entertainment and being such cool kids off stage as well! Truly a blast!

yes i have to agree with this! i hosted waubonsie too and i absolutely LOVED them! They are like the best show choir i've seen all year. Omgosh i was just sooo excited everytime i saw the show in the gym and the warm ups...their sound was so amazing and i think they are like they friendliest people ever! I actually got to hang out with some of them so it was nice. and they even cleaned up a lot of the stuff in their room which was nice. I love you guys! Best show ever! I told ya guys you got 1st place from me! I just wanted to get up and do your show haha. I hope you come back next year!!!

" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> Any day round scores?

Perhaps Mr. Carroll can post scores when he returns to Burbank. All I know is that Burbank was ahead by 2 points after the day round and that there was a bit of a dropoff between Hersey in 2nd and Waubonsie in 3rd. Something like 20 points, maybe?

Burbank, very close call, huh?!?! I have no doubt you guys were awesome as usual, and sometimes the judges just don't see things the way you hope. To Impressions, way to go! I hope it was a great day for you ladies, with this being the first time you've been eligible for a finals. Have a safe flight home, and KICK IT down the home stretch of your season. I'm honored to work with you guys.

Waconia, I know you've put your heart into your show this year and the results haven't been what you've hoped for. Know that Mr Olsen and I are proud of the people you are, the work that you've done, and the show you've produced. Fire up and close strong at Altoona in a few weeks.
God Bless, Damon Brown

So i got to Mundelein at 12:30 just in time to start the mixed groups... it did seem to start a little slow for me, but i was still impressed with what i was seeing. I am going to outline my feelings on the finals only at this point....

Hersey: First of all, your parents ROCK!! i sat by a few of them, and they were so cool and were so cute asking my honest opinion about what i thought, yeah, like im anybody.. lol your performance in the finals blew me away... you guys sang your freaking tails off... was not a huge fan of the opening outfits, but thats just me. ladies, you can SING!! the dresses after that change are hot and you were so smokey with your sound and i loved it. over all, with everything that i have said, i had you placed 3rd with best vocals... i really did like your show though and the "cape trick" took me off guard!

Burbank: well, im not sure much needs to be said here. you guys know what you are doing, and do it well. the opening number, Africa, didnt really seem to go with everything else for me, but it was a hot! the one thing i felt in finals over prelims is that you guys were over singing... you all have amazing skills, but Forte does not mean shout and that is how i felt.. all the notes were there, they were just really over the top. with that said, i still had you 1st with best Vocals... you all were very clean!!

Waubonsie Valley Sound Check: What can i say, i simply fell in love with this group. Your opener, Was very strong and fun to watch. Your Sway and Mambo was VERY Dwight Jordan, and I LOVED IT. Now, this is where my love for you grew... the ballad.. WOW... your soloists were amazing, and their blend together made me weep. What a powerful ballad and you sang your faces off. each and everyone of you committed!! The ladies on battle hymn have an AMAZING sound!! the harmonies were so tight that i could not stop crying. guys number, cute and fun and you were all there!! i just cant say enough about your show!! you all have so much fun doing it, and are so good at it!!! i cant wait to see you again! you may not have the power of some of the other groups, i enjoyed watching you SO MUCH!!! I had you 2nd tonight with best choreography, but that might be because i love your show so much!!!

Burbank Girls: I dont know, it was a good show, but nothing really sticks out to me. The phrasing seemed off at times and the energy was a little low. I know it was a long day for you, and i did not see you in prelims, so i dont have much to compare it on... overall, i had you 4th

Hersey Girls: Opening outfits were a mess to me... but you danced and sang well... so i over looked that. The rest of your show was fun to watch... i loved the theam and how you carried it out.. the green coats for the ballad were my favorite of the day... you ladies have a nice blend and some really good things going on there. over all, the show was fun to watch - i had you 5th

Wheeling: This show was just a little strange to me. the theam was there, but the pace was odd... the ballad, not a big fan. the whole "take us to church" break down was a little odd to me. over all, you do have a nice show, but for me, lacked the excitement that some of the other groups had. overall, i had you 6th.

so, to recap, i was pretty close- im not gonna lie, i was surprised that Hersey won this, but looking back on it... they really did step it up in finals..

overall, it was a long day but a good day.. it was good to see some old faces and meet some new people. Mundelein... hats off, you did it.. and if im not wrong, at no point were you more than 20 mins off scheduale...

SIDE NOTE, i would like to point out that everything i listed here is just my opinion, i hope that no one takes offence to it. i really did enjoy everything i saw today... this is just me replaying it all in my head after a long day!

Wow!!!

That's really surprising! Good luck to all groups. What were full day round scores?

I don't know about FULL scores, but from what I understand, day round looked like this:

Burbank (ahead by 2 points)
Hersey
Waubonsie Valley
Burbank (girls)
Hersey (girls)
Wheeling

I think that Burbank would have gotten the band caption if their band wasn't hired and therefore ineligible. They were kickin'; I was very impressed.

I saw all the mixed groups in the day round except for Wheeling, but I caught them during finals. Didn't get to see any Single-Gender except for the two that made finals (and Lights and Sound FX, of course). My top 4 from the day, then, (taking my limited viewing into consideration) would've been this:

Hersey
Burbank
Waconia
Waubonsie Valley

I felt that Burbank improved a lot from day to finals. I watched their critique tape with them and they fixed everything the critique asked for, and had a lot more energy at night. I would have put them ahead of Hersey in finals.

I also got to meet Mr. Carroll briefly; that was very cool. And I also got to meet a bunch of Burbank people, and of course, Haakon himself, the one and only.

On a serious note, there was a collection for the Enterprise Relief Fund (they also had Haakon speak about it and about SCC, so we may see some increased traffic, yay!) and if I'm remembering the number right, they raised something like $1522, which is excellent.

Well run, Mundelein!

Damn, where did Hersey come from? To be honest, I wasn't aware they were so good.

actually hersey swept the mundelein invitational three years ago too. that's the year they came out of nowhere. they've been pretty good since then, but that year and this year have been their two best (at least when i have seen them)
