I really think the timing of their day show and their finals placement can be a problem here. Craig went onstage around 3:45 and then again at 7:30. They had no time to really calm down and refresh between shows. This will be a problem with Waconia and WV too of course since these 3 were the last 3 in day and first 3 at night.

Completely Agreed.

Waubonsie really sounds great this year. Running out of steam a little in this closer, But overall it should win this contest. Ballad was REALLY nice.

Well done everyone today!

*I'll edit this post after every group.

Personally, I felt like Janesville Craig's daytime performance was better vocally (though it could have to do with the fact that we're listening over computer). I still love their choreography, and I really enjoy their opener and closer a lot. This time around, I really liked their ballad, too.

They did seem pretty tired vocally. I think maybe the tempo was what bothered me most throughout. Overall seemed really rushed...

Is waconia still like show choir on crack?

*I'll edit this post after every group.

Personally, I felt like Janesville Craig's daytime performance was better vocally (though it could have to do with the fact that we're listening over computer). I still love their choreography, and I really enjoy their opener and closer a lot. This time around, I really liked their ballad, too. JC's choreography was my favorite of the day, and if I were a judge, I'd give BC to them.

I also felt that Waconia's vocals weren't quite up to what they sang during daytime, but the drop seemed less than JC's. The soloists weren't as jaw-dropping as they were during day, but they were still very good. It was clean like daytime and I still enjoyed this show very much. I think it will be very close between JC and Waconia.

Waubonsie Valley stepped it up in finals. I didn't really like their daytime show, but their finals show was great. The ballad. I love it. I'm not a fan of the closer, however. It seems like it could use some work musically. But I really did enjoy this performance.

Holmen. I've never seen you before. I felt kind of awkward watching your show. You guys had good vocals. But (my own personal opinion) I really didn't like the costume choices. I enjoyed the show, it was entertaining. I just don't think it can compete with the groups who came before them.

Mundelein, i missed your finals show because I had to drive a friend home. I am sorry! I'll just have to go based on what I saw in day.

Sauk Prairie. The opening was interesting.. in a good way. The circles were really awesome and I can't even imagine learning and perfecting them! I enjoyed the theme of Jesus Christ Superstar. I felt the show lacked some vocal energy, and some energy in general. But during the ballad part of the show, the vocals blew me away.

Honestly, the top three of this competition are going to be very, very close and I could see it going many different ways.

I also felt Mundelein and Holmen were close!

My predictions (based on the groups who have performed in finals).

GC. Waubonsie Valley (Best Vocals, Best Band)
1RU.Waconia (Best Choreography)
2RU. Janesville Craig
--pretty big drop--
3RU. Sauk Prairie
-another smaller drop-
4RU. Mundelein
5RU. Holmen

Craig was just as amazing as always. GO SPOTS!
Waconia rocked it, and I liked the show a lot better than last year. They could seriously contend for GC...
WV's ballad. Oh my goodness. Wow. Beautiful. Astounding.
And it's great to see that Milton is doing just as great as ever under their new director!
This will be a great evening finals, no matter which 6 choirs make it.

I only saw 4 groups, but my guess of top three is Waubonsie Valley, Janesville Craig, Waconia. I heard from a friend that Sauk Prairie should be right up there, too. Look up a few posts to see my thoughts on the show I saw.

Womens Division
GC: Mundelein "Lights"
1RU: Waubonsie Valley "Girls in Heels"

Varsity:
GC: Waconia "Current"
1RU: Colby "Choloition"
2RU: "Central Swing Inc"

Best Female Soloist: Alexandria Buck - Waconia
Best Male Soloist: Austin Stoly - Waconia
Best Stage Crew: Holemen
Spirit: Waubonsie Valley "Girls in Heels"
Best Band: Waubonsie Valley "Soundcheck"

EMC just held up a Green Bay Packers hat. I am contemplating exiting out of live feed

Finalists (Performance Order, pulled out of a hat):

Janesville Craig "Spotlighters"
Waconia "Power Company"
Waubonsie Valley "Soundcheck"
Holemen "Midwest Express"
Mundelein "Sound"
Sauk Prairie "Executive Session"

I'm going to assume it was the feed, but i was slightly underwhelmed by Waubonsie Valley... vocals are always their strong point and it showed again, but the show over all was... "meh" to me. BUt i'd still prefer to see it in person to make a solid opinion, lol.

I had the volume off but Janesville and Waconia both looked VERY clean and i liked what they were doing.

I haven't watched many shows today. I only came in halfway through Mundelein and then watched the last three. That being said, It'll prolly be WV, Waconia and Craig as the top three.

Up until WV's closer, I was going to ranked Waconia ahead of WV actually. There's a lot that you miss when watching a live feed, though.

So out of the shows I saw:

1. WV
2. Waconia (I think they can WV in finals, assuming they're on)
3. Craig (Slight drop between 1 and 2 and Craig for me)
4. Mundelein

Really nice show Spots! You know I would love to be up there with you guys again!

I was so upset, the internet was down all day today at my place in Mexico.
But now that I'm online it seems that the live stream wasn't really working?
Sad Panda. I just want to see my Current and Power Company HIGH VOLTAGE SHOW CHOIR.
And I really wanted to see WV.

I guess there's still finals right?

I was pretty underwhelmed with Mundelein, especially since they were my first full show I've seen this year (live or via stream). I don't expect to see them make finals.

Janesville Craig looked absolutely fantastic for it only being January. Their opener and closer were just fantastic. They seemed extremely clean for the most part. I was extremely impressed. They should finish close to the top.

Waconia. Gorgeous vocals. I loved the ballad. Their soloists were some of the best overall soloists I've ever seen in a show. Their choreo wasn't always crisp, but overall the show was very well put together for being so early.

Waubonsie Valley will win best vocals. Their ballad was just wow. Though the live feed ruined the vocals a bit. But I felt their show, though very, very good, was a bit awkward. I actually enjoyed Janesville Craig more than Waubonsie.

I only saw four groups, but I would probably put it
1. Waubonsie Valley
2. Janesville Craig
3. Waconia
4. Mundelein (though I don't believe they will make finals. I just didnt see anyone else)

Honestly, my guess is the top three are very close and I could see it going any way. JC is my person favorite so far.

The live stream is up and running at www.redhawkmedia.com.

also, a message from redhawkmedia:

"We were unable to raise the necessary funds to purchase extra bandwidth for this event. We will monitor our school's bandwidth throughout the day and when our limit is reached we will have to switch to Ustream. The Ustream stream will be low quaility and have a lot of ads. Click here for more information on making a donation or becoming a business sponsor."

Like SeƱor Jorge said, it's a well-rounded judging panel. High fives for credibility.
