Whoa...GO BENIFER2286! I couldn't agree with you more! It's called show choir for a reason. It's about finding a balance between the two. There aren't many groups who find a great balance. But, if all you did was dance, of course you could dance the hell out of some choreo and make it very challenging (well unless ya have really bad dancers in your group lol) and if all you did was stand there and sing you should be singing in at least 8 parts the whole time and sounding amazing. If you get to a point where you have to compromise one thing for the other you’ve gone too far. There's really no need for a compromise though, because you have ballads to show off vocals and dance breaks to feature the choreography. Everything else should just be in balanced out. Sing and make it sound good and dance and make it fun and visually interesting. But me being a vocal person...I would most likely compromise the choreography and try to think of something that’s not as demanding but still interesting to watch....Jopezio

This is why I think MTZ maybe shouldn't have won. Their vocals weren't as good as GCS, and it's been brought up that it's because their choreography was so demanding. That very well could be true. But take a look at what we are: Show Choirs. I think that vocals should always come first in a show choir.

I wish I would've seen the Hilltoppers.

Teay's Valley used way too much vibrato.

Buffalo Grove was good, but their show was quiet and kinda boring.

Urbandale and Crete had the best ballads.

I was most entertained by Totino-Grace.

GCS did nothing wrong.

Eisenhower was my favorite.

All I'm gonna say about this competition is that the Hilltoppers are freakin' awesome this year! They totally blew me away on Friday night and then again on Saturday night! I loved every number you did and that says a lot because i usually don't like at least one song a group does. Many people have already said this but the ballad soloist was amazing. I heard her at show camp this summer and fell in love with her. I didn't even mind that you did songs that have recently been used by other groups because (in my opinion) they were better than when they were done before. Onalaska this year is going to be even more of a force because they are so much better than last year! I love the Hilltoppers!

And to any Kennedy people out there; I LOVE YOU ALL! Two people came up to myself and Kevin while we were waiting to accept the participation award and said the most kindest things. I appreciate that from the bottom of my heart. I love you guys.

Aww, thank you Rebecca! That was Abby and I (the two Kennedy people) but I can assure you that Kennedy LOVES Urbandale! I can't wait to see how Linn Mar turns out. Good luck to you guys!

Now... :claws come out:

This pisses me off how many people rag and rag about how Mount Zion's vocals suck. I'd like to see you get on stage and do the choreography they do and try and sing out and loud with insane diction and all that good stuff. IT IS HARD! It is mind boggling everytime I see them. I have no idea how they can produce the sound they make while doing the choreography they do. Get off their backs and give them some damn props...they deserved that Grand Championship and I've been saying this for weeks: if any group would end GCS's Grand Championship streak, it'd be Mount Zion.

I saw all the groups from about 10 on and when they announced finals I turned to the person I was with and sat there and gave her my predictions which were all true except two groups that I had flipped around (which now makes sense as to why I was wrong). I am satisifed with the way things turned out at Onalaska and I think it's crap that people are saying that it was rigged etc and so on.

Oh well, we all have our own opinions and we all had our favorite group - it just looks like most people's favorite didn't win.

::waits to get yelled at::

People saying Onalaska is rigged... wrong.

People saying Mt Zions vocals sucked... opinion.

My opinion is that Mt Zion needs a little more volume. That is all.

Congrats to everyone at Onalaska, you were all great! One question though, does anyone have or going to have the finals DVD of MTZ? Or all the finals groups? If you do and have a DVD burner, I will gladly pay for a copy. E-mail me [email protected], also that soloist from the Hilltoppers was amazing!!!

Hey everyone,
To Alex from Valley (its Rebecca, closer soloist from Studio in case you dont remember me ; Thanks for the compliments about our show. I appreciated your support for us. It was a very difficult competition. I also appreciate everyone else's support and comments to studio about our show. I think I will speak for everyone in Urbandale Studio when I say this; yes it was very disappointing, but it gives us all the more reasons to come back with a drive to change that all around. When I got off that stage after our only Onalaska performance, I turned to my friend and said 'I dont care what place we get, or if we make finals. This is why im in show choir. I couldnt have had any more fun on that stage.' Im looking forward to Linn-Mars competition! And to any Kennedy people out there; I LOVE YOU ALL! Two people came up to myself and Kevin while we were waiting to accept the participation award and said the most kindest things. I appreciate that from the bottom of my heart. I love you guys. Feel free to email me anytime!!!

Ok, I'm pretty sure that Mt. Zion had the best choreography score in pre-lims and GCS had the best vocal score. Also I did hear that Mt. Zion had a sound problem during pre-lims. The story I heard was that something caused a high pitched sound and the sound guy turned down the mics thinkin it was that mics so for the second half of their show the sound u heard was just them without mics. I also heard GCS had a problem with sound too.

Does anybody else have positive comments or constructive crtisism for Onalaska's show?

I got to see Onalaska perform, and they did awesome. First off, smart choice in choosing a new choreographer this year, last years wasn't bad, but dwight is awesome. Your closer choreography resembles Mt Zions of last year's, but thats alright cuz I loved them doing it too. Overall I was very impressed with how clean everything was, and by all your vocals. Diction would probably be the thing to work on, however you were in a gym and everybody knows how hard it is to pull off diction in a gym. I'd be more then happy to give you more feedback if you instant messaged me (this goes for anybody since I saw all 29 groups) at Jasn01, or if I'm not online my e-mail is [email protected]
it was a pleasure going to watch everybody perform and there are no regrets

Okay, congrats to everyone for finishing the way they did, but I thought that Urbandale and Teays Valley should have beat out BG and FC for spots in finals. I loved both of their shows, BG's didn't seem to have any energy and FC...the cookie song was awesome, but other than that I wasn't too impressed. That's just my opinion but whatever, can't change anything. Teays and Urbandale were awesome though. Oh and just a little bragging point for me...Westside, where I'm from, got first in vocals during the prelims but 13th in choreography because the choreography sucks and no one has a work ethic. We got what we deserved.
