I got to watch Center Grove`s finals performance and I thought they did amazing! I was seriously awe-struck the whole time. Carmel had great vocals, but like others, their choreography was pretty risky. I thought the competition was amazing and so many amazing choirs came. Hopefully itll be as great of a competition next year!

It is very interesting to note that the finalists of this competition held in Ohio were- three Ohio schools and three Indiana schools. The Indiana schools all placed in the top three and the Ohio schools placed in the bottom three. Also interesting to note each set of three are arguably some of the best groups from each state.

It will definitely be a competition that comes up if people are debating who is better, Indiana vs. Ohio

That really happens 90 percent of the time in Ohio??? and you guys are still using rankings??? What a headache... No wonder you all have had so many circular results/seasons over there.

I do agree that it doesn't seem quite the most logical thing but it is the way it works at 90% of competitions in Ohio/WV. It's a VERY common thing. It's not a surprise. Congrats to all groups! It was a well fought battle!

Probably. I heard a mom gasp when they started it and I chuckled a bit. Lol

Lol. I've even gasped at some things before though... There were some very provocative lifts and other choreo in North Central's 2009 show, that made even ME gasp. And I'm an open minded liberal, Feminist, and homosexual at large. lol not much really shocks me...

I Have to say that earlier in the season this might have been true.... But in the past few weeks they completely revamped their show. The closer is completely different, the ballad has been changed and their vocals have greatly improved. I have to say though, when four judges have you in first and two have you in second (just enough to make a tie between the top two and give you best vocals) it seems kind of sketchy... I have a lot of respect for Carmel choirs but it doesn't seem fair that 2>4.

While it has been an interesting compeition season I'm going to not make any predictions here. I feel like I can't really take any previous competitions and make a really good decision on who I think would be at the top especially since I haven't seen any of the Indiana groups that are coming. On top of that this is a differrent competition. Different venue, different judges, different everything. This should be a fantastic competition. Probably the best Classic in years!

I'm willing to bet that this "Chair Choreography" that everyone is kind of upset about, Probably affected Carmel's choreo score quite a bit, and is more than likely, the reason for how close CG and Carmel were.

I believe Luke from I believe Carmel won the whole thing but I couldn't hear everything because of all the cheering lol.

First off, every group's finals performance was unfreaking believable! I would have hated to judge this one even though while I was there I pretty much called the placings. And on that note here are a couple of my thoughts.

Carmel- Flawless vocals. That's the only thing I could say about this show. I wasn't a big fan of the whole Be Italian thing and the chair choreography. Contests on the win though!

Center Grove- First off I think somebody said earlier in this topic that you guys were terrible this year. I gotta say now what the heck were they talking about?!? Your show was great! Maybe not as good as last year but still great! The closer however was just too much for me. I kept telling people that I need a minute after that. Still a good show and I called you guys for choreography!

Lawrence Central- Much better than last years show. While I think there was less focus on entertainment but there was definitely more focus on vocals and choreo and it payed off in a big way! Great job in finals! Oh and a shout out to that girl with the deep alto voice in the trio that was disgustingly good!

Marysville- I think last night was probably one of the best shows that Marysville has had since 08 maybe even 07. This show has progressed so much since the show case and it's never gotten worse only better. You all put your hearts out there last night and put on a great performance. I will be cheering for you guys back home during your trip to New York and I know you will make me proud!

Twinsburg- Good job firstly. The choreo was the cleanest I've seen you guys all year. My favorite move that I barely caught were the Star Trek hands. Small and I'm sure no one else noticed but it was sweet! That being said I didn't see much improvement from daytime to finals. There were a few vocal hits that were better but everything else was pretty much the same. Born This Way was great! Props to you you guys for taking a song that came out a month ago and making it one of the best parts of your show. The dance break with the weird like horror movie music was awesome! However I don't think it fits well with the show theme in the song order that it was put in. If it was placed somewhere else I think it would have flowed much more nicer. Congrats on a great season and can't wait for what you guys bring next year!

Solon- One of my friends said you guys sing the crap out of your show. He was right last night was a great vocal performance from you guys last night. Another one of my friends who's a band guy heard your band and was astounded you didn't walk away with best combo. The band was a little heavy after the ballad so I missed a lot of awesome vocal spots in the closer. PS tell Mr. Lewis that I said the ballad was flawless last night!

Great competition last night hope to be back next year!!

PSS Teays Valley has made a mass improvement since Marysville!

Let's not be oversensitive, Scott. Logan was just expressing his opinion and I'm sure he was frustrated with his group taking second after having tied. That's totally understandable, and in no way does his post make his entire group look like "petty jerks." You of all people should realize that one person does not represent an entire choir. It actually raises an interesting question about scoring, the best way to do it, and ties in general. Personally I think that judges use way too little of the scoresheet and that's a major reason we end up with more ties than we should in the first place. Perhaps a ranking system (as some competitions do use in finals) would be more appropriate to avoid skewing of the results. These are all good topics for discussion. But let's not bash one guy for expressing his opinion with the system, especially when he didn't say anything negative about Carmel at all - just his frustration with the way the awards were dealt.

You're right, I'm sorry Logan, I just love my Ambassadors more than I love my own alma mater lol and ppl REALLY don't give them the credit they deserve...

Regardless, what I was really saying, is that for CG to come back after the start they had this year, and TIE with Carmel is an amazing feat, and that regardless of who actually walked out with the trophy, both groups should be nothing but proud to have put on what i'm sure was an incredible night show.

Of course, out of all the ppl on this site, I know that his comment didn't reflect the attitude of the entire choir, but as i've gotten older, I just don't get the point of even talking about the scores after the trophies are out.

Again, wish I could have been there.
