eek, GCS loads at 7:45 and leaves at 8. Should make for a fun day! See you all tomorrow. I'll be towards the back sitting by the judges area all day, at night I'll be up in the front, and will probably end up being a "letter" for GCS, come say hi!

i'll talk about something:

GCS, my loves,
I send out my deep wishes for you this weekend. I hope you have a blast while performing because I know that it has been a while since you've competed, but none the less you will be AMAZING. I feel bad that I don't get to see my most favorite group of them all one last time. Due to the hecticness of our home shows this weekend, as well as our senior formal next weekend, I am unable to venture a road trip to stalk you guys. You guys never have a problem with setting the bar at competitions, you lay down the law the minute you set foot on stage. As people say that Exec has a reputation of carrying character throughout an entire show, you do also. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

and to everyone else,
I wish everyone the most fun this weekend. my day of competitions is over, and as of next week i should even call myself an alumni of show choir- WHEW! Treat every moment as your last on the stages you bring your great prescence to! GOOD LUCK!

Aw! We love you too! You are such a wonderful person and performer. Nobody can buy a cake like you can. I really wish I could have seen you guys one more timethis year, but I know you guys were awesome! Thanks for the wishes!

why does CR Jefferson, CR Washington, and Waukee all hold their comps on the same weekend?

Waukee's not really in the same area as the C.R. schools. Waukee is in the Des Moines metro area, near Johnston, Ankeny, and Urbandale - a good 120 miles from Cedar Rapids.

lol and the more technical reason:

Cedar Rapids Jefferson started their competition LONG AGO (in the mid 80's I believe) and by the mid/late 90's the competition became SO HUGE the director at Jefferson (Dr. Pete Eklund) asked the director at Washington (Dr. Gerald Kreitzer) to host the smaller school competition at Wash, with the winner of that competition competing in finals at the Jefferson Invite. Thus, a competition was created at Cedar Rapids Washington. After the 1998 season, Washington decided to separate from Jefferson and make their own competition, Mo-Show. Both schools like the date of the competition and the two competitions across town have not completely screwed over the other competition, so the competitions were left on that date. It's been this way ever since. Idk when Waukee started their competition or why it was on that day, but that at least explains the Cedar Rapids schools.

*edit* And then like Chris said, the mayor of Cedar Rapids did declare this coming Saturday "Show Choir Day" in either 2004 or 2005.

I think finalists will be like this:

La Crosse Central
Urbandale
Urbandale Prep
Xavier
Papillion South
West Des Moines

Anyone know who's judging? I know Doran Johnson from Omaha, NE is judging, but that's it!

I would go with this list as my finals as well. And thats my dad. I'm actually going to watch this time. hopefully I can get in for free.
