In one of our shoutouts from Onalaska, they mentioned the "W" in the back and how we should represent Wisconsin well Made me think of this.

Between groups, I looked up at the gym wall, saw the W... and that was the first thing I thought of. Because of the Washington issue.

Maybe Georgia pays the Packers. I think C.R. Kennedy pays a fee to Kansas State University to use their Wildcat/Cougar.

Wow...way to get us off topic, Adam.

My pleasure!

Wow...way to get us off topic, Adam.

Urbandale got sued several years ago because our J-Hawk looked too similar to the University of Kansas' mascot. I think they resolved it by closing the beak so the angry clenched teeth weren't showing and turning it to face the other direction. That was apparently enough to satisfy them.

Edit: Because I was overly harsh toward UW-Madison...I must be having a bad day.

Why don't the Green Bay Packers go after the University of Georgia? Check those two logos out.

because the Packers are by far the best football team on the planet!
(duh)

Instead of being mean and greedy, they're proud that other groups take on their logo! lol Read about it in their history section at packers.com !

"1961-present: First and only helmet logo in team history, designed for Lombardi by equipment manager Dad Braisher and first applied to Packers headgear in 1961. After introducing the G, the team immediately won two world titles (1961-62), and five over the mark's first seven years. Borrowed by scores of schools, college and high school. "

....GO PACK!

I can't believe i actualy researched this.... wow....

Our school has a very similar W, also red. (Westside Warriors) But our district bought the right to use it from Wisconsin.

are you serious???? why do people care that much?

They say that it looks bad if someone wears the W on the school if something bad happens.
In my Econ class last year we talked bout this issue and got both W's on a overhead and placed them on top of each other. Ours was larger, more italicized and a slight different Red.

Its just crazy, Wash has been refusing to do anything about it and they continue to bring it up.

Okay so for the record, La Crosse was absolutely amazing!! I had my doubts when I watched the day time show. Your dancing was so amazingly clean and just hit so hard it was like the symbol noise was being caused by your hits. The band was PHONOMINAL!!!!! It was one of the best bands i had ever heard. I was so glad that you guys got best band. I hope we get to see you guys in the future. It was a great competition! What a turn out!

Aww, well thank you. I did not get to see Vitality Saturday, but I did see your day-round performance at Totino 2 weekends ago and I thought you guys were great, particularly for a prep group. You have a great show and a lot of talent on stage.

There were two girls (so happy they were crying)and a guy from Urbandale who came to talk to Cam and me. They were so nice! Sadly, we didn't get their names. If anyone would possibly know or can find out.. let us know!
Urbandale-you guys did a great job! I was excited to see you since I haven't seen you guys for a few years. Was this your last comp?

All other groups- great job! I didn't see many since I was extremely tired after our two shows... but I heard everyone did well!

You could have just described about a dozen studio members. There were several of them that were so overcome with emotion over last night's result that they didn't stop crying until we were all the way back at our school. Obviously winning a competition where GCS was in attendance was a very big accomplishment as far as we're concerned since your group is one of the very best around.

This was our last local competition. We're competing at Showstoppers in Orlando next week. That will be a tough one too since the other competing mixed choirs are Omaha Westside, Buffalo Grove, Eisenhower, and Center Grove.

Where does Dennis Hendrickson teach? I've heard his name before, but I don't know where he's from.

Oh and Dennis is a private voice instructor and also works with the Des Moines Metro Opera.

Well this was a fun competition!

Urbandale - Good day show, but GREAT night show! The improvement was just like none other! How do you guys get all that energy out of no where! I like the ballad, it was definitely different, but that's why I liked it! The arrangement was sooooo cool. The closer was fun, and catchy. I thought the soloist really sold that number great! Taylor Weaver is a great singer! She was just great. Mr. Temple is a very nice and sincere guy, you guys should be happy to have him and Mr. Woodin!

It was a good night overall!
