It's great that everyone had a blast, I know everyone from hastings did and we LOVED hosting all of you guys. GCS, you're a great bunch of people who were so much fun to host and i'm immensely disappointed that our two choirs will not get to see each other again this year. Totino, you guys are always a class act and we enjoyed having you at our competition again. To everyone who came to the dance party, you guys are awesome and that was the highlight of my night. Hopefully dance parties in homerooms will catch on, so if you enjoyed it as well...

Oh my gosh guys...Hastings is over for another year. (sigh)

Thanks to our hosts who were so awesome for making us signs and holding them up during our finals performance. You guys are so nice.

My COMMENTS:

GCS: My mother saw you (we couldn't as we went right after you) and said that it was unfortunate we had to follow you. I listening to your finals show in our room and you sounded great. Cool show and I'm glad Old Abe was actually able to see it this year.

Totino: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. Beautiful just like last week but with the extra kick that just made it that much better. Plus, when you were coming off stage and we were going on for finals, you were so nice and supportive. Thanks.

Bloomington: Attitude is the word to describe your show. It's just great how your energy and facials come across to the audience. Your vocals were tight in the opener like no other...Lovin' everything your doin'--plus sharing a cluster with you was great. I really like how open you guys are when I congratulated a RIG girl she gave me a big hug and that was great.

Bemidji: I didn't see your show except for the girls number which I loved. I saw a little bit of choreo from your closer which looked very clean. Sadly, I won't ever see your show live but I'm definetly buying a finals DVD so that I can see you show in its entirety.

Eau Claire: Comments would be great.

Papillion La-Vista: Loved the opener. When we watched you...we thought we were done for. Loved the guys number. The choreography was absolutely beautiful. I'd never seen anything by your choreographers. Your second number's soloist was GREAT. He was my pick for BMS. Closer was energetic and fun. Also, your track jackets were cool.

Pleasant Hill: COOL SHOW. The set was so cool. Your vocals were very good and the choreography was really energetic. Loved the closer but you might wanna make sure your dresses aren't laying on the stage after the costume change. Overall, cool show.

Jefferson Jive: Congrats on winning. Your show's got a lot of great aspects like the way you really seem to love your show...keep that going.

Bemidji La Voce Ballo: You were in my top 3 for Class A. The choreo was sooooo clean! Taller vowels would be nice however.

Kennedy ESS: Cool show, good soloists, good costuming, Great ballad soloist. Loved the choreo.

LaCrosse CC: Good girls vocals and good balance for only 5 or 6 guys!

Eau Claire Eagle, Eaglettes: Any comments are comments I can pass on to Eagle.

THANKS TO ALL.

Way to go JIVE! Your good news spread like wildfire when we all got to the POPS concert! (You can thank Steve Friebe for that!...) All your band folk were ecstatic, and were wondering what would have happened if Hastings were like Waconia or Eau Claire, where the top A group performs at finals!! Everything worked out well, though.

JIVE was amazing. Same with Papillion.

Everyone was awesome yesterday.

I really enjoyed watching the groups.

why thank you for that lil compliment! for some reason the bridge never really occured to me as being odd... dunno why

this competition is so much fun! the theater is huge and everyone there is awesome.

The auditorium was amazing.

It's my first year in show choir

so I was kinda dumbfounded yesterday by everything.

Very crazy.

We placed 8th, which is better than we expected.

We thought we'd be dead last since it's only our second year in existence.

We were the FIRST GROUP to perform yesterday. Talk about an early morning.

I thought for sure Totino was going to "overcome" last night I don't know what it is about Totino...but I'm verging on obsession instead of just liking them. I have the urge to follow them wherever they go. I shared an elevator ride with some Totino girls who recognized me after their finals performance haha. Such cuties! I think I've decided that I'm going to Pops concert for sure with cameron and one of our alumni. It's going to be amazing.

Corgrats to everyone there yesterday. All the shows were really fun to watch. Here are some thoughts.

Bloomington Kennedy- Your show is amazing. You put so much energy and sound into it. I Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove your ballad. I love the soloist in the ballad. Tell him to keep up the good work. Keep your energy level high, your show is really fun to watch.

Papillon- I loved your show. You had so much energy and you looked like you were having such a fun time. The song "Stacey's Mom" was my favorite song of the day. Your guys perform it so well that it is so fun to watch. Your whole show is all around just a fun show to watch.

GCS- Amazing performace yesterday. You guys did a great job. Congrats on Grand Champion.

To every one in my group (CoS)- You guys, our performace during finals yesterday was amazing. We should be proud of what we have accomplished. I am so pround of all of you. I know that we walked off stage yesterday knowing that we couldn't have done a better performace. The band, crew, and singers were all flawless. Keep your heads high and let's get ready for our own competition Spectacular. And let's work hard and be ready for Cedar Rapids Jefferson and Nations. Let's rock those towns.

A big thanks to Hastings for hosting this competition. I had a blast. I love the battle of the sexes and absoluty loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove your ballad. You guys rock.

Out of curiosity was it rank Ana or scoring???? Just wondering.

I have the scores- if no one else gets to them I'll post them after rehearsal!

First, thanks for the Encore thoughts!!! It helps to hear feedback from their peers, and so often prep groups don't get talked about! (and those dresses, so NOT expensive!! yay bargain shopping!)

For right now, I just want to say congrats to GCS- especially Nick and Cam (I love you two like you were members of Cofs!). It's really wonderful for our group to have a connection with another group, especially when so often they are ignored by other groups because of silly assumptions or rumors.

You are definitely a group we respect and admire, for so many reasons. You had two beautiful shows yesterday, and hopefully really inspired all of the choirs there to really think on deeper levels about musicality and emotion- and to think about cleaning the crap out choreography, because oh my god, you're clean. We were proud to place so close to you, both during the day and at night, because if we can score close to a group like your's, that means we're doing something right!!!

Oh, but someday GCS, Totino-Grace shall overcome.

Wow-I was only at Hastings for finals and it was a blast-everyone performed so well and it there was such a great atmosphere, as usual. Here are my comments:

GCS-This is the first time I saw your show this year, and it was phenomenal, as usual. Your choreography was uber-clean, as usual, and the milkshake song was really cute. I thought that the ballad was pretty, but I didn't feel too much of an emotional connection with it. However, it sounded amazing. Great job, Nick, on the solo. Some of those lifts at the beginning of the set were really cool. Your band, as always, was amazing too, especially your horns. Those guys deserve some major credit for how great all of you sound. You couldn't do well without them. Congratulations on a job well done!

Bloomington Kennedy-I saw your show today and both times at Eau Claire. It is such a fun set. However, when I saw it this time it didn't seem like you had as much energy last night as you did at Winterfest. You still performed REALLY well though. I love all the songs in your show, and your band is incredibly fun Kudos again to the harmonica player and guitarist. I do think that despite your high energy level, the show needs a little more shape. There isn't enough contrast dynamically or emotionally, and if you could find a little more of that it would make your show even more incredible. I love your ballad soloist. There were some times during that song where it seemed like not everyone was really singing the meaning of the words. It was still powerful, but with a little more feeling, wow, you could blow people away. Great job again!

Bemidji-I saw your performance tonight and both times at Linn-Mar, and I have to say that you have improved ALOT since I last saw you a month ago. I love your energy level. Your singing was soooo much better this time around. I really like your great use of synthesizer sounds in some of the songs. However, I think that a little less of the electric drumset would be better for your overall sound. I really like Eye of the Tiger Both you and Kennedy were much better sound balanced than when I had previously seen you-before your bands were a little too loud, so much so that it drowned you out a little. It was a good improvement. Like Kennedy, you need to feel your ballad a little more. You sing it well, but with a little more emotional "oomph" it could be amazing. Great show!

Papillion- You were much better than the group that I saw at Bishop Heelan last year. I wasn't really excited about your set, but it was solid. You need to sing out a little more-it didn't sound strong enough to me. I'm not sure what I think of the white coats, we'll have to sit on that one. But overall, it was enjoyable to watch

Eau Claire-I really like you show. The Prince medley is really fun. The songs in your set aren't favorites of mine, but you did them very well. Your singing was great. I don't remember too many specific things, but I did come away with a feeling of the set being very solid. I though you should have placed higher, but things were very close.

CoS-All of you should be very proud of yourselves. You performed so well yesterday. I don't think that there was much more you could have done. Everytime I see the show it gets better and more entertaining. Orange Colored Sky has improved vastly since Linn-Mar. Brown Derby Jump is my favorite song of the set. Everything was solid and clean. All the solos were great. The ballad was beautiful, and you looked like you were having so much fun. No matter what anyone tells you, you wer fantastic, and dare I say it, spectacular! And to all the band kids, I am so proud of you. I wish I would have had the opportunity to give you guys more hugs Great job, and make sure to eat the sandwiches off yout trophy before they get stale. You are my heroes The horns sounded better today than they have any other time. Way to go!

Hastings-I also saw you at Eau Claire. I thought that you should have placed better that day than you did. Your set is one of my favorites this season. It's so great. It's not as flashy as some other groups, but it tells a great story. Mr Warren has done a great job this year putting together a set that actually means something. There is such an emotional journey through the entire show, and the whole audience connects with it really well. I love all of your songs, and your soloists all did a wonderrful job. Everyone played their character very well for the entire show. Your ballad is one of my favorite songs this year. That arrangement of "With or Without You" is amazingly beautiful. Really. I almost cry everytime I hear it, or get it stuck in my head. Your show makes me very happy I love your BUB The guy/girl interaction was so cute an genuine. I LOVE IT!!! Score sheets can't reflect how great your show really is. And thanks for hosting such a great competition.

And does anyone have more scoring details yet? I know it was close, but I'd like to see it more closely.

Great Great Great Job to Everyone!!!

This was so tough that it was so hard to watch!!

But here are some of my notes,
GCS- Great Job guys!! You have really kicked it up from Monona Grove (the last time I saw you) Great Job!!

Bloomington Kennedy- I am so mad that I didn’t get to see you...again! Arggg...good thing I am buying a DVD of finals. But great Job anyways!

East Side Swingers-Very Very clean and you have very good soloists great job!

Divaz-You guys are just as clean and you also have very good soloists!

R in R- Great job, this was my first time seeing you group and I was impressed. I think that if you work a little bit harder on Vocals you would be set! Great Job!

Papillion- Great job guys!! That was the first time I have every heard a Hillary Duff opener! Nice work with that, also the Stacy's Mom song was great! Fun show to watch, very entertaining.

Bemidji Girls (Prep)- WOW WOW WOW! To be honest I was expecting you guys to win! Five sets of costumes and four costume changes and it all worked! AMAZING!! You guys were also so clean! I like how your coreo wasn’t so easy, it was harder and it was so sickly clean. More clean than I have seen some AA groups this season WAY TO GO! (Oh I also love the flames at the end!)

Pleasant Hill (Prep)- I love the extra set of risers and the backgrounds! I have never seen a group that sets their prep up with such a great stage! I wish that all groups would do that. Help out there preps! LOL...your girls dancing was very clean but at spots vocals didn’t come through as I think you wanted them. Also make sure you make that stage set up faster. It took a long time and it seemed very un-professional. Just my thoughts of coarse...but other than that for the first time seeing your group awesome job!

La Crosse Central Connection- Great job guys! I have never seen a group start with the guys and girls numbers good thought! Also great job with only having 6 men! You guys worked hard on that balance! Great job!

Totino (Prep)- Beautiful Costumes! I loved the dresses! I thought your guys' group looked very professional. I always think your top group looks like they are 25, and you guys looked like you were 20. I can’t get over how you do that! Your guy’s hands were very clean. More cleaner than a lot of prep groups I saw @ Hastings. Now here are just a few thoughts-works on balance. I realize you have a million girls to one guy but still really work at that. Also don’t figit on stage, there were a few people who were during the ballad and it was distracting. Also try to get a costume change in there. By the looks of the costumes it looked like they weren’t cheap and I understand only one set of costumes because of it, but maybe the guys could take their coats off or something? Just a thought...but otherwise great job!

Eau Claire Eagle- Good Job! You guys had awesome blend and balance. I love your ballad!! Also the guy’s number was very cute! I think you really need to work on making sure all of your hands are the same. It was hard to tell what they were supposed to be...also work on blocking. It looked like there were people missing but just because they are missing doesn’t mean that you couldn’t move down a window to make it look right again! But besides that great job and I can’t wait to see your improvements down the road!
Good Job Everyone this was a truly tough tough tough comp that was a blast to watch!

THANKS! It was great to hear how much you liked the show. I am the choreographer and asst. director of La Voce Ballo, Bemidji Prep, and it was our first competition. I was very proud of them, so thanks again for your kind words, I will make sure they get back to the girls! Also, congratulations to everyone in finals! It was a touch competition, and everyone really brought their A Game! I am also the Asst. Director of Vocalmotive, bemidji, so i must say how proud i am of those kids as well...they always amaze me on stage but something special happened on that stage on saturday, so congrats to vocalmotive for putting out the best show they could put out! Also congrats to my jessica on best female solo for the 2nd time .Again, to all the groups YOU ROCK! I didnt get to see GCS Totino I thought did a great job- you all really committ to any show you have ever done. Its a great thing to watch. Bloomington Kennedy was very entertaining, has jarad always done your shows? CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!

Hastings was a hellllll of a competition. Congratulations to everyone who made it to finals or placed. EVERYONE WAS AMAZING! A lot of people came from behind...East Side Swingers really improved, I think. And RIG from Bloomington Kennedy is always good.

This was the first competition I've seen this season, and I was very impressed.

Way to go Jefferson Jive: I thought you guys were amazing!

I must say my favorite show was either Bemidji or Bloomington.

I may be naive here: but could someone please explain where the song from Totinos show about "snuffing the girl" is from? The first time I watched it I personally didn't really understand what they were saying to begin with, and was really confused. One of the parents told me it's from a broadway show, but I was just wondering which one?

Everyone was fabulous at finals! I had to stay and watch because I wanted to see Hastings haha. I really liked the Hastings show this year too, it's hilarious!

Good job everyone!
