adam- did you mean to place Bloomington Kennedy in 4th in finals and not Waconia?

Just some thoughts since I didn't have many before!

Totino- Great show, I thought the finals performance was the best I've seen you all year. You guys showed you wanted it, and a few of us thought you got it. Congrats on a great show and keep up the work, get that GC in Cedar Rapids- I might be coming to Spectacular so say hi to me if you see me...those who know who I am (Ana, Tom, Jane)

Waconia- This was my favorite show of the day. I've seen them 4 times now, Milton prelims, Sauk prelims and finals, and Hastings prelims and it keeps improving so much! The energy in the show was unmatchable at that competition during prelims, and I just LOVE your phrasing in Let Me Entertain you. It's just been so much fun watching this group go from "hmm, Waconia is good this year" to a group "Man, Waconia, they're great!". I just can't stop thinking about the things I loved about your show! Disappointing not to make finals, obviously, but I had you up there.

Vermillion SD- For the first group out during the day you were good. It surprises me that you hired a high school senior for choreography, but he did an alright job! Good show, and good vocals, in my mind, that was your strong point.

Pleasant Hill- Pretty girls! Gosh, PRETTY girls! Missouri like has a curse, you and Troy are just " border="0" alt="thumbsup.gif" /> ha. I thought the set was a bit excessive at first, and didn't play into the show at all until Jump with the trampolines. The lights were cool, but what did it all have to do with the show? The set was probably the thing I liked least about the show...everything else was great. Choreography was clean (Chad is getting better EVERY year!) vocals were there, be careful not to let your band over play! Great job!

Papillion- You guys were a surprise to me! Very good job, you sing well, dance well and your band plays and balances well. It was a great show and I'm glad I got to see it twice.

Eau Claire- I think you guys have improved a lot. You are no longer completely shouty, and your diction isn't annoying anymore! Congrats on all of that, I'm very impressed that you've fixed those things! I didn't think you all had energy, but the choreography (while it may be hard) didn't seem like it required much energy, so it showed a lack of energy. I think that if you guys continue to get better, and have the band tone down a bit, you guys will be great the rest of the year!

Bemidji- I liked your show a lot! I thought you sang well and danced well, but I don't know if I liked the theme...I really didn't get it. You guys were very clean, and I thought vocally, you were one of the better groups there, congrats.

Kennedy- Hmm...great attitude on stage! It was a nice theme, and nearly the ENTIRE crowd was going for you, they all LOVED you. I liked the themes, and the ARRANGEMENTS! (Go Anita!!!)...but I wasn't so fond of the singing. To me, you got shouty in almost every song, and the girls sound was a bit too bright for my taste. I think that you were finals worthy, and I know you were disappointed with how you placed during the day, but there were so many great groups that were there. Congrats on a good showing, good luck competing yet this year!

Oh and my favorite group, for obvious reasons, last.

GCS:

You got me, I cried during the ballad. At EVERY competition you've competed at you've had me close to tears with that ballad, this time you got me. You are SO convincing on stage compared to most other groups, you seem like you connect with the songs and each one of you has your own opinion, never a fake smile in the group! You come across as real, and that's what sets you apart. I've heard it now from directors, people from other schools, moms and dads, and even "Jorge"...which most of you know as Adam Peters haha, that you guys have something no group on the circuit has...I agree. I haven't (well since like freshmen year!) talked about GCS's competition placements or how I think they did...but here, I must say they were great. I can't wait to follow you to your last 5 shows...seniors--isn't it crazy to think about it like that?! Keep improving, there is still work that needs to be done, but get it done and there's no telling what you might do! I'm not 100% sure, but I think I may be seeing most of you guys on Thursday for your concert with ISU! Congrats on the win, cherish it because as most of you know, it could've gone either way last night!

This is how I personally had it at daytime and night

9th: Vermillion
8th: Pleasant Hill
7th: Papillion
6th: Eau Claire
5th: Waconia
4th: Kennedy
3rd: Bemidji
2nd: GCS
1st: Totino

and at night...

5RU: Eau Claire
4RU: Papillion
3RU: Waconia
2RU: Bemidji
1RU: GCS / Totino
GC: Totino / GCS

It was hard to judge the winning group, and honestly it could've gone either way very easily!
I was pretty sure captions would go like this...

BV: GCS
BC: Totino
BB: Kennedy / GCS / Totino

Bemidji Girls (Prep)- WOW WOW WOW! To be honest I was expecting you guys to win! Five sets of costumes and four costume changes and it all worked! AMAZING!! You guys were also so clean! I like how your coreo wasn’t so easy, it was harder and it was so sickly clean. More clean than I have seen some AA groups this season WAY TO GO! (Oh I also love the flames at the end!)

Hey thanks! It was a tough comp and there were so many good prep groups there! Talk about fun to watch! We were excited with how we placed and hope to only go up from here! Thanks for the comments!

I have the scores- if no one else gets to them I'll post them after rehearsal!First, thanks for the Encore thoughts!!! It helps to hear feedback from their peers, and so often prep groups don't get talked about! (and those dresses, so NOT expensive!! yay bargain shopping!)

For right now, I just want to say congrats to GCS- especially Nick and Cam (I love you two like you were members of Cofs!). It's really wonderful for our group to have a connection with another group, especially when so often they are ignored by other groups because of silly assumptions or rumors.

You are definitely a group we respect and admire, for so many reasons. You had two beautiful shows yesterday, and hopefully really inspired all of the choirs there to really think on deeper levels about musicality and emotion- and to think about cleaning the crap out choreography, because oh my god, you're clean. We were proud to place so close to you, both during the day and at night, because if we can score close to a group like your's, that means we're doing something right!!!

Oh, but someday GCS, Totino-Grace shall overcome.

it took me a while to get on here today, but i just wanna say how FRACKING AWESOME yesterday was. seriously, this was my favorite competition i have ever been to. gcs omg you guys were AMAZING! i have never seen anyone move the way you guys do you take your choreo whether its easy or hard and make it your own and it's sooooooo amazing! i wish i could have hung out with you guys some more but i saw cam and nick and sam briefly and it was wonderful! i can't wait to see you (well SOME of you...the cool ones ) at spectacular in a couple weeks! papillion i had never heard of before but i LOVED your show! raise your voice is basically the best movie in the world, so you don't even know how excited i was that you did fly as your opener! stacey's mom was awesome and your ballad and ballad soloist were wicked amazing! i met some of you guys before finals (i was the one freaking out that you did a hilary duff song) and you seemed wicked awesome. good luck with the rest of your season!
seriously, yesterday was way awesome!
ok i'm done.
later dears.

Here are some more dance party pictures!!!

I promise Greil isn't as weird as he looks in the second picture, in fact, he's pretty much awesome!

Those pictures are great. Exemplirary posture by me there...but what can you do. The table was really low. That party was nuts. GCS has more fun than any choir I've ever seen. If anyone from GCS has some pictures that I might be interested in, could you send me a message, or something along that nature?

ps, In the second picture you can see the milkshakes. Best gift ever.
Pps - I look like such a loser in that picture

That's me, and yes my name is Nick Thank you very much for your kind words. I didn't get to see the person that won..I only heard a little from a tv but I'm sure he was better than me...he obviously had to be lol. I guess I'm confused as to how they even judge who gets best soloist in a show. Does anyone know?

Well congratulations on a solo well done. I was only speaking the truth. I was able to see the guy from Kennedy that won and honestly i thought you were better. I was amazed at how good you were. So you had my vote haha!

In response to the second part of your post:
In SOME of the past competitions i've been to, one of the judges chooses who gets BMS and BFS. But I know that not all comps work like that...so i am also unsure how it is judged here.

I thought Pleasant Hill was good, their band had some issues in balance, and covered the choir quite a bit, the main reason (in my opinion) why they weren't in finals. ALL the girls were so pretty in Pleasant Hill, and the guy with the flip......oh my gosh, I yelled that after he did it, and it was just amazing!

i think that smiley face sums up everything i feel about this competition...it was simply amazing! It was so fun backstage when we would pass other groups, because everyone was supportive of eachother, and that really made everything exciting!
Congratulations so GCS!!! All of you we're extremely nice! I didn't get to see the show(sadly), but i'll order the dvd and probably watch it like 50 times......!

Papillion, you guys are SOOO energetic and were just a blast to watch! I love how everyone was so commited to every move-it looked great!

Bemidji- will always be my favorite show choir because you are all so nice, and you're from up north WOOT! Plus, your shows are so great every year!

Hastings- THANK YOU SO MUCH! our room hosts were amazing- thank you for our room, which was VERY cool, and thank you for being so nice and making us feel so welcome. This competition was so well organized! wow, your show this year makes me so happy!!!! Your costumes are amazing, especially the pink dresses girls!and all of the boys are so cute, i'd go to prom with them any day! hah! Thanks again for everything.

Truly, everyone was amazing. Encore just blew me away! "Fix you" makes me cry every single time, and every looked stunning and sounded amazing! Performing yesterday can't be compared with anything I've ever done before - everyone really went above and beyond and I wouldn't trade it with anything. Just feeling that unsurpassable happiness after the show is the best thing in the WORLD!
Thanks again Hastings and congratulations to everybody!

AND GO OUR BAND!! wahoo!

Pleasant Hill: COOL SHOW. The set was so cool. Your vocals were very good and the choreography was really energetic. Loved the closer but you might wanna make sure your dresses aren't laying on the stage after the costume change. Overall, cool show.
