Sorry that I'm so late, but I only just now saw this post. I just think as a parent, you probably shouldn't waste your time with this. It is my opinion that people who truly believe in what they're doing and have an almost inate knowledge of their worth, don't need to defend their actions or standing in life. Don't defend yours (Burbanks'). After all, David's opinion is just that....an opinion. Just let it be. We all love Burbank kids, whatever "inappropriate" actions they ay have taken...., whatever, they're just kids and that is forgiven. We know they work hard and that they don't have a choice in the songs they are given to perform. That is why it is just an opinion.

oh, that's ok....I have plenty of free time now that I don't have any kids in choir " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Everyone has a right to their opinion, but public attacks are never appropriate or necessary. David has already apologized (privately) on the Burbank choir forum, so I respect him for making that effort. And Burbank certainly doesn't need any defense....their accomplishments over the past 5 years speak for themselves. But that's just......my opinion!

David, David, David.....why so grouchy?? (That was unexpected on so many levels.) Why would your one and only post on this site be a disrespectful attack on your former choir? Not sure what could have been the motivation for this....

You admit they "sounded awesome and looked great" (by the way: isn't that the whole point?), but then assert that they 'have no heart'!? Were we watching the same choir? In Sync in prelims gave a very passionate and intense performance. You may not like the song choices (hey, disco isn't my favorite either), but so what? I don't think that gives you the right to attack the kids who are just doing the best they can with what they are given.

You also indirectly slam Mr. Carroll who, despite his "lack of creativity" dry.gif has somehow managed to 'create' one of the most respected and successful show choir programs in the nation. There isn't a more talented, likeable and hard-working director. The kids love learning from him.

While the actions of an overexhuberant few after the awards might not have been appropriate, isn't it hypocritical to throw stones at them right after admitting that 'we all made fun of people that did that crap' [disco]? Have you forgotten that In Sync actually DID do some disco back in the day.... Us old timers might remember "Stayin' Alive" in 2000? And who was that soloist?? hmm,... ;) (And it didn't prevent you guys from doing well back then either...)

You may not agree with the results or like someone's 'style.' That's fine. But please consider the feelings of those who work so hard to produce something truly outstanding. I'm sure you did not intend to offend. But I was disappointed to see such a reaction....especially from one of our own.

Anyhow...it truly was a remarkable competition. Tony Atienza is amazing! SoCal choirs have had a wonderful year. Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to everyone who participated yesterday, especially to Chula, Tony Atienza, Brandon Smithey and Pabs Sisqueros on the amazing venue and the best sound and lighting I've ever seen at a show choir competition. Plus let me state for the record that with the possible exception of Powerhouse, Chula Vista had the best designed show of any i saw all year - great song selection, terrific arrangements, beautiful arc, plus beautifully complementary choreography and staging; exactly the way I like to see it done. But man, did those two soloists look OLD last night!!

OMG Scott!!!

If you go to Burbank High, please read this.

Regardless of what the link is, just post a topic in your "My Choir" section.
