Aww come on Jamie did you have to dedicate your first post to making me look like an idiot?

I urge you to consider that it is impossible to interpret tone through reading text.

What's funny...

Ya don't see any members of Burbank coming on here and publicly bashing your set.

And yet I have not bashed theirs...

I can only be glad that both members of Powerhouse and In Sync have been much more mature than this about the discussion of the competition. I can be equally grateful that this member was the only one to resort to personal insults and temper tantrums in an attempt to prove the validity of his statements.

Both strong and weak points considered, In Sync and Powerhouse did an amazing job. That's the one thing we cannot debate.

Rizer- You are a bad example of your choir and if i were your director i would BAN you from using this website. It would be a different story if you were part of another choir but the fact that you're openly criticizing Burbank's show as a whole rather than being a friendly rival and being happy for your sister school, speaks volumes about your character and sportsmanship.

That is all! Peace and chicken grease!

Well, I'll give it to you that you are good at misrepresenting what other people say.

QUOTE

Is that really what you think? That's very sad. The truth is in the tapes kid. Watch them and you'll see.

Kid?

It is my opinion that Powerhouse is more emotionally powerful. If you want to go so far as to say that Burbank is not emotionally powerful, then that is your choice. However misrepresenting me only displays your desperation.

QUOTE

Perhaps you're too busy with your head up your .... to realize that there may be another choir that deserves winning just as much as your group does! Burbank won, and you're coming onto this VERY public forum and degrading your choir by saying these very insulting things. I heard about the Tiger thing last year on this website, but you are NO better by saying these things.

Am I actually hearing this from the man who openly claims Powerhouse is nothing but their air canons and makeup?

I won't dignify your post with anything but this :

Burroughs - You guys are out of this world and it was a close race. You and Burbank should be proud in the way that you both represent your city.
Burbank - I've never seen such effort thrown onto a stage and it surely paid off for you very well. You guys are unimaginably great! Don't let the negative comments of others affect your very well deserved win.

It makes you look like a very sore and sour loser...when no one really lost anything. And that is the saddest part of this all.

That is all! Peace and chicken grease!

can't you just accept the results for what they are and move on? I'm sure the judges had their reasons for their scores. and complaining about it on SCC isn't going to change it.

Exactly. Last night already happened, nothing can be changed now, no matter how much you talk about it on SCC.

why must people cause so much drama over a competition?

Be careful about mistaking drama for healthy debate.

As long as this doesn't degrade to personal insults and flaming, I see no issue with it.

EDIT: Apparently I spoke too soon...

WOW! Passive aggressive much? Okay you win, Burbank is un-original, has lack-luster out of tune vocals, and is not creative because they don't have air canons, OH and when I watch their show I don't feel any emotional power.

Well, I'll give it to you that you are good at misrepresenting what other people say.

For the record, I never stated that Burbank was uncreative or unoriginal.

I think we should just be glad that everyone who competed at socal (in all the divisions) gave it their all and just appreciate the magic of music and being able to go and compete in competitions like so cal. regardless of the results.

My idea of "the core" and your idea of "the core" are most likely different. To me, the core is the deeper meaning of the show, the story if you will. The extremities are important to bringing out the story. I applaud Burbank for having some story to their set, which is much more than I can say for many choirs, however like a previous poster said, it almost seemed a little kooky.

QUOTE

All the props and such do help make a show great and exciting but in the end the judges are not basing their decisions on how flashy a show is. If you dance and sing well, you will be rewarded handsomely.

Again, dancing and singing in itself can be mind numbingly boring. If there is no story or deeper meaning behind a show choir set, then it just becomes a bunch of kids singing and dancing on stage.

QUOTE

In a show choir competition being "sharp" when you dance is MORE important than having air cannons. Sorry if you fail to see this. You can create your own genre where choirs can come and test out the latest air cannons and you can base their entire performance off of that instead of their natural talent and ability.

I fail to see why you think Powerhouse is so powerful because of their air canons. Powerhouse is so powerful because of their story, and their intensity and emotion in telling that story. People don't start sobbing in the audience when Powerhosue performs because they are being blasted with Co2. They sob because Powerhouse is truly powerful.

QUOTE

It's incredibly insulting to say that Burbank is not original, artsy, or creative.

Insulting? How insulting? Like parading a decapitated tigger insulting?

First you tell me that Powerhouse is nothing more than their air canons, and then you play the victim when I question the creativity of Burbank?

QUOTE

I invite you to sit and listen ONLY to both shows and tell me who has the most breath taking vocals.

Both choirs have excellent vocals. In Sync has a very nice male sound, however powerhouse seems more in tune and blended. One thing you must not mistake for "good vocals" is "loud vocals". Burbank is very loud, and many people mistake loud for good.

QUOTE

Then watch both shows with no sound, and see who has the best and cleanest choreography. Add those two together and you've got yourself a champ.

Show choir is about the overall impact of the combination of singing and dancing. Not plugging your ears or covering your eyes during a performance. If that was the basis for determining the superior choir, I would've quit long ago.

You misunderstand. I am merely acknowledging the supposed coincidence of both choir's affiliation with a concept of Mozart, and both choirs having 4 minutes somewhere in their set.

oh!yeah I can explain that.over the summer I decided to be a little haxzor and break into the powerhouse mainframe and steal your ideas.

mozart and 4 minutes are light years apart in selection but thats not what our set is about -___- our set is called "Ex Tenebris Lux" meaning "out of darkness to light".You have to look it at like that.not by the song selection buddy.

First of all, it's called Show Choir. Thus it is a singing and dancing competition, meaning the choirs that can dance and sing the best are the ones that WIN! Have show choir shows always used auxiliary light fixtures, backdrops, or fancy air cannons? The answer is no. The point I was trying to make was that when you strip their show of the externalities you see the core of the show, the guts if you will.

My idea of "the core" and your idea of "the core" are most likely different. To me, the core is the deeper meaning of the show, the story if you will.
