Was there an answer on the live stream question?

If I remember correctly, Häakon couldn't do a live feed last year because they were having a hard time getting internet into the auditorium. If Häakon's not doing the video this year, I doubt someone is going to try harder or even as hard as him to get a live stream going for us.

Are you doing Blu-rays again this year, Häakon?

Sadly, no... I will be out of the country during the time of this competition. I will be doing Blu-rays at both Burroughs and SoCal (along with live feeds), but I realize you're probably asking because of the trifecta including Clinton.

I am making it to SCN this year, though, so at least I'll get to watch them live. Both events should be lots of fun!

So I feel it's sorta an "at your own risk" situation. One thing is clear: they certainly need a bigger theater to keep up with demand.

More like an arena...

So if you're not associated with a choir you're basically not going to be able to get in? Confused about the ticket situation.

I'm not a representative for the school and I'm definitely not saying that flat out, but going by past experiences I am saying it's extremely difficult to get tickets and you certainly can't expect to show up on competition day and just buy one at the door.

Here's the ticket order form that they've provided:

http://www.losalamitoschoir.com/files/Xtrav_tix_2014.pdf

It states on the form that "tickets WILL NOT be mailed after March 7th," so if you were to mail payment to them at this point it would probably be too late. There is a "hold at will call" option, but if you're thinking about attending, I would email them directly as soon as possible and find out what the situation is. Last year, an alumni even made this post:

http://www.showchoir.com/events/event.php?id=832&pid=545477#545477

So I feel it's sorta an "at your own risk" situation. One thing is clear: they certainly need a bigger theater to keep up with demand.

Any chance we could get a live stream of this?
I know there is internet from the school, maybe getting permission from the district to broadcast live from the theater?

Are tickets hard to get for this?

Extremely. Los Al's auditorium is very small, and a majority of the seats are filled up by the students in participating choirs. Add on top of that the number of large profile groups that have attended this event in the last few years and the demand is high. I would say that if you are interested, your best bet is to contact a director and get in on their group buy - but even then it is not guaranteed; last year they had to refund group tickets that had already been purchased because there just weren't enough seats.

There has been an outdoor viewing area (it's California - it's warm) in years past, but I don't personally know if they're doing it again this year (though with high demand very likely, I would assume they'd set it up), but obviously that's nothing like sitting in the theater and watching the event happen live. I do understand the financial reasons behind groups choosing to hold events at their own schools, but this one has definitely grown beyond its capacity for several years now.

The Burroughs and SoCal competitions can hold many, many more viewers but are in April when a lot of the Midwest has already closed up shop. I'm guessing this is the prime reason Los Al has been an attractive destination for the out-of-state groups who have attended in the last several years.

I think it's a safe assumption that both Burroughs and Burbank will be there. Those two plus Clinton and Edgewood will already make for an incredible show, and I have no idea who else may be coming. This year both Burroughs and Burbank have very different shows/approaches, and knowing Clinton, they're very different as well. I don't want to give anything away just yet, but there will be three distinct styles of show choir on display here at the very least, and it will be interesting to see how the judging goes down. This is definitely not your parent's show choir.

I know Edgewood (IN) will be attending. Rumor has it that Clinton will be attending. I wouldn't doubt that Burbank and Burroughs will be competing here either.
