I gotcha, thanks for clarifying that. Where else are you competing at this year? I'd love to go see you guys compete again.

To "Lifestyle": I never claimed to be an esteemed adjudicator, nor was I trying to undermine any of the judges. It's a show choir forum, I was just giving my opinion. Read the very first line of my post.

I don't think Lawrence Central was bad by any stretch. I didn't feel like giving a detailed breakdown of each group on here so I just mentioned the things that stuck out in my head. The show wasn't bad and third place certainly isn't a bad thing either. If you watch the tape from finals, you'll see what I'm talking about with the back row, and the girl's sound about halfway through. Judge for yourself.

I'm sure the judges gave you guys some good constructive comments to work on, and hopefully the show will get continue to improve and you guys will rock the next show. Great job last night.

did CPs show not end with the ballad last night? or am i just misunderstanding the comment?

nope, we switched it around.

the ending might have also seemed a bit awkward because the last number has a bunch of changes, too. the very ending dance move is something we just learned on thursday (i missed practice on thursday, so i was totally lost for that part haha) and the band sort of forgot about the change, so it looked a bit off. not to mention unclean ;)

we were all tired, so it wasn't the greatest performance, but we had fun anyways. congrats to everyone, especially lc! you guys were great!

GC: Lawrence Central
1RU: Center Grove
2RU: Ben Davis

Lawrence has had a GREAT season so far and I believe they will continue to do very well.
Center Grove will definitely bring good competition. They might have what it takes to win, but I still feel that Lawrence Central will step it up to make sure that they beat this group.
Ben Davis is very good this year.

This is just my prediction... We will see how it goes.

I win =). Very great competition. Looking forward to seeing how LC will do at state!

our show up to that point had ended with our ballad, so everyone stood and cheered when we finished the ballad, so i think that added to the awkwardness in the audience.

North Central: Great show as usual. I personally think it's an improvement over last year. The ballad was amazing. I have to say, the ending seemed really awkward and abrupt... when the group bowed the audience seemed to pause for a second as if they were surprised it was ending rather suddenly. It's very minor though, still a great performance.

For what it's worth...

Center Grove: Should have won, I have no idea why they didn't. I'd love to see how each judge had the groups ranked. Vocals and choreography were all great, the whole show was fun to watch. Everyone looked like seasoned performers. The character piece was great.

On a slightly unrelated note, there were a few girls from Debtones that sat in front of us during the mixed finals and talked loudly the entire time. Hopefully this gets under control for future contests; I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mr. Pratt and Center Grove's choral program and I'd hate for that kind of thing to reflect poorly on the school.

Lawrence Central: I had LC in last place, but not by far. Performance wise everyone looked like it was their first time performing, showmanship was lacking. I thought the girls sounded very young. Some people in the back row were in a whole other world, one guy was consistently 1-2 counts behind everyone else. Very distracting. Not terrible, but not memorable.

Ben Davis: I really wish Mr. Cremeans would re-consider his backdrop ideas, they look so trashy that it leaves a bad taste in my mouth before they even start. This goes back to the days when he was at Columbia City, I have no idea what he's thinking... it's almost like his trademark. Aside from that, the group did an excellent job. Everyone seemed to have fun and performed well. I would have had them a close second behind Center Grove.

Well, well, well, I wondered how long it would take to see the injustice of the Ismaa scoring system to take effect. I saw it tonight.

I won't go into details, but I would think that both Huntington North and Center Grove will realize that they may as well stand still and sing loud to win and not worry about the visual show effect. Oh wait, maybe it was Findley, OH. It doesn't matter.

Center Grove out performed everyone tonight, but lost because of what? You tell me. I'm going to bed.

I know we all are going to post the finalists and concert choir winners, but can we also post results and reactions for the Festival Division as well? I'm very curious as to how it turns out. thank you.

Does anyone know why there are so few groups there this year? I thought it might have something to do with the state basketball finals but I saw Carmel is competing in Carroll today.

Also, why are they only having three mixed finalists? It seems like they could have easily had four or five slots for that. Better yet, they could have the winner of the Festival division compete in the finals as a wildcard (they did that several years ago at Southwestern HS; Whiteland HS won the Festival Division and in finals they got 2nd or 3rd in the Championship Division finals).
