3rd Place groups get BRONZE medals
2nd Place groups get SILVER medals
1st Place groups get GOLD medals

We only award medals to ALL the performers who place in the top 3 on Saturday's heavy division.

It was funny seeing other groups trying to get medals that they did not earn...

- Medals are a hit! I wish the other festivals would invest the money like we do.

TA

I have a question regarding the medals. I attended the comp last year and I, too, thought the medals were a great idea - but, as it has been a year I have forgotten the criteria for the medals being awarded. Could you please post that when you have the chance? Thanks!

And now we come back to Monday after a weekend of fun! by the way... did anyone win the money for bets taken on standings??? I'lll check that forum later. I want to give shout outs to Brittany and Virginia for bein kick ass hostesses. This was my first SoCal and I had a blast. I met so many people! Thai, Christina, and a couple other cuties caught my eye between sets. Anyways, that is what show choir is about! Trying your best, having a blast, and being able to have fun with new people!

I have no experience in judging shows but I was amazed at EVERYONE so don't feel bad. Only people that have extrememly acute eyes and opinions can catch tiny errors! I only hope Ramona can do better next year, I was kinda dissapointed for being set in advanced with groups of such high caliber. Oh well, one year to go!

I hope to see tons more people at JAMBOREE! on May 10th!

carlsbad...good show...good vocals...i like danger zone..hahah

sux...i misssed o-side and eastlake and bv. i missed "im a man"!!! haha. and bohemian rhapsody!...but it wus awesome on tv. hmm...where those light formations supposed to say anything?...j/w. and bv!...i really wanted to watch you guyz too...only watched it like once or so.

vista...very different show...entertaining...and i like it cus its different. but yes...lots of dance breaks...but yet...its ok. o...i hope the girl that fell is ok (the one while using the stick to do a flip)

ramona...pretty kooool show. i like the whole bandstand thing...haha. o thot that the dancing wus kool...wit the swing type stuff. o...and heather (i dunno u) but...you are a pretty good performer....very throw-able...hahah(as a good thing). and tina...good solo...good singin!...gj to you guyz...and gl in the future...lotsa potential!

good comp...i just wished i couldve been more involved...like meet more ppl. i met jimmy tho!...yay...and...i saw/sed hi to mr atienza. he looked like he was busy...didnt talk to him...o well...one day...haha. gosh...having a gf/one very good friend sux at times...dun get to walk around and meet people...o well...it wus still very FUN!

Thank you! Next year....but I'm graduating this year. Ahhhhhhh. So sad -- that was my fourth and last SoCal!

By the way, I love the medals! They're the BEST!

Mr. Atienza,

As a representative of an all-girls show choir, I'd like to make a comment on improving the "positive atmosphhere." I heard many girls [from Sound Unlimited and other groups as well] talking about this, so I figured that it might be a good thing to mention here for next year.
The slide show at the beginning of the advanced mixed division made the girls groups feel rather left out. With showy lights, references only to mixed groups and a big "Welcome to the Southern California Show Choir Invitational" after the girls groups, I think it set a "It's time for the mixed groups: Now, the competition can start" kind of tone. I hope you'll take that into consideration for 2004.

-Maki Kitano

Will do!

This was a last minute video done THIS week! By ONE guy from our tech crew! Matt!

Since it was such a hit... We will make a BETTER one for next year!

Thanks Maki!

As a HUGE SUPPORTER of Girl groups, you should know that I (we) did not mean to offend any of the girl groups at any measure!

Just wait till next year!

My opinions on Socal...
Vista is boring. Im sorry... Im not one who goes to a show choir competition to watch a musical. But thats just me. Yeah. Sounded good, but it seemed like they danced way more than they sang. So yeah.

HMMMM......I respect your opinion but I also think that our shows are a lot more entertaining than the same old show choir show....dont get me wrong when you guys throw together pop songs and sequins filled shows they can be entertaining, but they can also get pretty old, and I know that when Vista takes the stage we wake people up because we are so different and we enjoy being that choir that gets all the applause from the audience for being unique. We have just as much talent as your choir, we put all aspects of performing into our shows, acting, dancing, and singing. We just prefer to showcase our talent in a different way.

Overall  So Cal = greatest comp EVER!     peace out everyone

Mike

Thanks!
I wish more competitions would emulate what we have accomplished!

- Starting at 12 noon means you leave at 8pm and get home at a decent hour! Our E.T.A. back to Chula Vista High School from LA competitions is 3am!! ...quite exhausting!

- Medals are a hit! I wish the other festivals would invest the money like we do.

- Positive Atmosphere! This is what show choir should be all about! When I see people non-supportive due to competition anxiety, it makes me happy that SO CAL is not that way!

- Meeting people! It is nice to see everyone getting a chance to talk. At many of the festivals toward the beginning of the year, we only know you through your shows and this page.

-Lastly..... no bathroom passes!

Props to Got_Ducky for voicing your true opinion. I know what you really thought of the groups Marius. Hahah jk

Not that I don't like Vista or anything, you guys were goood. The whole theme was unique and actually kept me from falling asleep. You guys have a great sound, but I would like to hear more of it (:

I agree with all those that thought Burbank was robbed of first. "Fallin' in Love" is my faaavorite song!

I saw Enchantment for the first time last night. You guys were great (:

And I saw Sound Sensations for the first time too! I thought you guys should've placed higher.

Poor Matt, I hope your lip will be okay (:

I LOVED chula's seasons of love!!

SoCal was fun. Good job to everyone!
