(I didn't see a Band category on the finals score sheet.)

I know that MoShow divides points by number of judges, so I believe that equates to 1 raw vocal point and 6-7 raw choreography points (out of 800 possible, I think - ten scoring judges, with the highest and lowest dropped for each group). Someone who knows more can correct me if I'm wrong - I only got a short glance at the sheet.

Xavier was struggling with some serious balance issues during the day.

You are correct about the judges. Except there are 200 points available per judge, so after taking out the high-low scores, it would've been out of 1600 points. So this was obviously an extremely close competition!

Also regarding the band category in finals... Band is 20 points in the "Show" or choreography category. There are 5 categories in the vocal section and 5 in the show- Band, Facial Expression, Dancing, Props/Costuming, Pace of Show- each worth 20 points. Each category has different sub-categories to help the judges be more specific with their judging, like Band Balance or Incorporation of band into show. Hope that helps explain the judging a little bit more.

Xavier did have some band issues during the day, for sure, but they were mostly in the opener and 2nd song, after the ballad the blend was much better. And I got to see the live videos for finals on channel 9.2 and there were no balance issues in finals. I'll probably post some comments later in the day after my performance. Time to go die

Kennedy won by 0.15 in vocals and 0.85 in choreography. Xavier was 2nd in both categories. (I didn't see a Band category on the finals score sheet.) I know that MoShow divides points by number of judges, so I believe that equates to 1 raw vocal point and 6-7 raw choreography points (out of 800 possible, I think - ten scoring judges, with the highest and lowest dropped for each group). Someone who knows more can correct me if I'm wrong - I only got a short glance at the sheet.

Regardless, it was an extremely close contest that could have gone either way!

Xavier didn't receive Best Band?? Woah!

Xavier was struggling with some serious balance issues during the day. Kennedy's band was very good. Best Band was awarded in the day round, but in my personal opinion I thought Xavier's was the best of the night.

Huge congrats to Kennedy on the win! After all that group has been through this year, it's fantastic to see you go out on top. Love the ballad, especially!

I want to give a shoutout to Xhilaration. What a year you have been through! Finishing 1RU on FOUR occasions cannot be easy - but the resolve you showed throughout the season was really incredible. I'm so proud to say I'm an alum. You left it all on the stage tonight... melting my face with the "Anxiety" dance break.

Also, Mundelein really impressed me... "Sound" got a new fan of theirs today!

Thanks to everyone at Washington for running such a smooth competition. And I hope some of you were able to see Joe Winters and my wonderful mom on KCRG 9.2 for the broadcast of finals!
