Did anyone get their DVDs from Homewood? How are they? good quality? Also, if someone could upload finals that would be AWESOME!

Not I. Still waiting.

Lets get the facts straight here...Clinton went over time two years ago and there was a single judge that had them in third behind Tupelo's girls, which no offense, is a joke. That is why rankings are used so that one bias judge (ex. the one who apparently loved the Tupelo girls) does not decide the competition. No offense to Albertville, but they are very much on a different level than yall are. I agree that of all the groups in the south, yall are the closest to matching them vocally, but you will NEVER compare to them choreographically with Mike Weaver as your choreographer matched up against choreographers like Steve Todd, Mrs. Mac, and April James with the Crislers (who are in my mind better choreographers that Mike) cleaning them all the time. I think part of the reason people aren't "blown out of their seats" anymore by Clinton is they have these super human expectations from them. We forget that they are high school students who are so professional that they come across as paid performers. It's in the detail such as not touching themselves in transitions, continuously performing throughout the show, and doing absolutely everything they can with the shows they are given. Sorry, but no school in the south has all of those things. If we all were to go to a competition and not know the name of the school or any of the performers, which would leave us with no expectations, I guarentee you that Clinton would separate itself from the pack. Whoever said South Jones is getting closer...your statement is nullified by this weekend. Not only does Clinton make finals everywhere in the south, they have won every competition in the south since 1991. Yes, that would be nearly 20 years. Yall can think what you want, but until Dave Fehr leaves Clinton, no one in the south will beat them. If they do I will come back here and eat my words, but for me Clinton is still in a completely different league.

This is beautiful.

Just out of curiosity, is Clinton's show a lot better than the version that is up on YouTube? Because the video from Homewood is really powerful and such, and the video from MSSC is a little weaker. I'm just assuming that's because of DVD quality though, like mike_extreme said originally.

Just a few thoughts of mine: I'm with Ohsshow choir on this one. Clinton is an amazing group. They are the most professional group I have ever seen. Their show is in no way 'boring' and this year is nothing like a show I've ever seen them do. On another note: this has been the most competitive season here in the south that I can remember! Congratulations to all southern groups! I am very proud of how the southern choirs have stepped it up this year! I hope this growth continues!

I agree with that!

Back to originality, there show design was even different this year if you didn't notice. They usually follow the opener with the ballad, but instead do a second dancing number. I don't know where the unoriginal comes from? As I mentioned, I love Albertville...they're great every year, but Clinton is in a different league. I stand by my statement however. Clinton will not lose to a southern group until Dave Fehr leaves, and if they do I will be the first to say I was wrong. I don't think I will be though. haha

Just a random question: I thought their second number was their ballad again this year. Am I mistaken?

The reason that people are so unimpressed by Clinton is not because we have superhuman expectations for them... it's because after you have seen them once, you have seen what they are gonna be like every single year. And that gets extremely boring. Obviously it's working for them but I just don't care for the "Clinton-type" show choir. I like to go with more progressive show choirs like John Burroughs who are changing things up. Not staying the same. And as for no choir in the south being able to beat Clinton... you must not have read my earlier post. Just because Clinton was RANKED 1st doesn't mean the were better. The scoresheets showed that that year. And as for the whole thing about them not scoring as well because they went over time... isn't being timed a part of show choir? Being able to set, perform, and take down all in your alotted time is part of what makes a show choir right?

To say that Clinton is exactly the same every year is pretty funny coming from an Albertville fan whose used nothing but Mike Weaver's choreography for years. At least Clinton changes their theme yearly and as awesome, original choreography. I love a Clinton type show and I also love an Albertville type show because they are both phenomenal. As for two years ago, the fact is that Clinton won because more judges thought they were the best which if the world of competing does make them the best. Thats why a ranking system is used by most all...its also a part of show choir (like timing is ) so really you have no point.

Thanks for the kind words. Albertville prides itself on politeness and supportiveness for everyone no matter how well they place. And I just wanna clear up any confusion that my last post may have caused... by no means whatsoever did I mean that Clinton does not deserve everything they get. They do their shows their way and do it flawlessly and amazingly everytime. So no credit taken away from them. I just find it boring that they are always the same. I didn't want anyone to think that I was saying Clinton was undeserving of everything they gain!

Well, you guys do a good job of representing your school. I think your parents and Poca's parents became best friends backstage LoL. We have experience with dealing in enormous, oversized sets haha.

Anyway, I understand about the boring thing. I understand what you mean about how its esentially the same every year. They shocked me this year with some of the song selections they made, to be honest LoL. I think it really got freshened up this year as opposed to the past few. I think we all even have to admit that. I mean, DragonForce man! Haha

Boring or not, they are still among the elite, if not the elite, in all of show choir. Center Grove (IN) is essentially the same every year, and they still kill it. Findlay (OH) almost EXACTLY the same every year and they still end every year with a couple GC's to their name. The fact is, that when someone executes to perfection (or near perfection) they are due to win. It's not about playing favorites, but rather the points on the scoresheets.

To andybearden, I also love progressive groups (Burroughs, Burbank, North Central), but I think that due should be given to a group like Clinton, since they do what they do flawlessly. No offense meant at all, but I just think that their skill should be acknowledged. By the way Andy, I was able to see Albertville at Belmont and you guys are crazy good But more than that, you were all really polite, and that wins out in my book.

On a different note, I just watched the uploaded video of Clinton part 1, and I about cried when the music for "No day but today" started! I love that song, and loved how Mr. Fehr arranged it!!! It made my heart happy!

Albertville does not always go over time! LOL! Don't know where you got that. They did go over time at Belmont this year though because the bay doors there are extremely small and its hard to fit large sets through them quickly! Everywhere else though(to my knowledge) they have been on-time!

No. They were beaten in finals also according to the scoresheets. But at Petal they don't use the scoresheets in finals to determine placement, they use the ranking system. As least thats how it was that year!

O ok well this year the score sheet and the ranks were the placings..

they used the scores to get the ranks..
