You should feel special!!! There are some people that see our show 5 or 6 times during SC season and we tell them what the story is and they STILL don't get it. haha Great Job!
I don't blame Mr Fehr for not allowing his students to post on this site. I can't think of another group that takes as much flack for doing what they do as much as Clinton (although, Powerhouse is definitely getting up there).
It really doesn't matter how much flack a group gets, they should still be allowed on here. I can almost guarantee that for every person giving them flack, they have five more singing their praises! LOL! And it's encouraging to get on here and see all the great things that people say about your group. And you learn to take the not-so-great things in stride. And there are so many people on here who give amazingly constructive criticism that groups can use to make themselves better in the future. For those reasons and many many more, directors should allow their students to partake in this site! Also... Scotty: Well said my friend. Well said. LOL!

I'll take a stab at it...I've noticed that Albertville tends to use a storyline throughout their show. It's the next evolution of a theme. However, if you saw their show last year and compare it to this year, I cannot see one thread of continuity stylistically between the two years.

Clinton is the same. That is the beauty of it all...people can use the same formula, but be very different every year and still be great. The reason I stood up for Clinton is they have no students or parents on here and it isn't fair for people to talk about them when they are amazing. Sorry you took offense to my support for Attache. I wasn't offended. And I never said that Clinton was amazing. In fact, I do believe I said in an earlier post that they ARE amazing. But I still find them boring. LOL! And
the reason that Clinton doesn't have any people on here is because they aren't allowed by their director... which is crap! Haakon created this site for EVERYONE to be able to come on here and express their opinions and be able to have debates about the world of show choir and the fact that some directors don't allow their students to participate is just stupid. No disrespect to Mr. Fehr because he is an amazing man from what I have learned of him. But it's just stupid to ban students from this website!

My point was that Clinton has several choreographers each year to insure that all of their choreography is different. I think it is kind of hypocritical to say a group does the same thing every year when they actually make it a point to get new choreography every year. No offense to Mike Weaver at all...he's a great choreographer, but it is no secret that he gives out repeat choreography. I have no problem with Albertville because they're great, but for someone to come on here and claim that Clinton is unoriginal and that groups in the south are getting closer to catching them is silly. Hope this clears it up. My comments weren't an insult to Albertville, but more of me sticking up for a Clinton group that is the best in the country.

Could you clarify this? How does using Mike as a choreographer make you unorigional?
Also, the fact that they change themes yearly isn't anything big. It's part of the expectations. If you are a competing show choir this is EXPECTED because people don't want to hear the same songs year after year after year...
So if you could clarify, that would be great!

I think I may actually be able to answer this question! This year, our opener was "Come look at the freaks/ Facade". We had the choir separated into 3 classes: the "Disguistingly Super-Rich People", the "Moderately Rich People", and the "Wretched of the earth/ Working Class Poor". "Come Look at the Freaks" started out with the "Super-Rich" singing in an extremely rich/English tone. Then, once we got into Facade, we had a few solo's, then the poor people came in singing in an EXTREME cockney accent. As a section leader, this was a NIGHTMARE for me to work with the poor people in my section. It took absolutely FOREVER to get each phrase to just the right cockney tone, without letting our "Southern drawl" creep in. At times, we even had to go LITERALLY word-by-word in a phrase to get it just right! But, in the end, it was worth it!
If you have any more "in-depth" questions, specifically about different tones, Scotty might be able to answer them, as he was a "wretched of the earth/ working class poor" person. I can't speak for how to do a country song, without letting our Southern drawl creep in, but you also might ask someone from West Jones. I believe they did a "Country" song this year.

i was thinking the the other day that since they are from Mississippi it must have been hard to sing a counrty song without it sounding really wide and really really country! ( if that makes since ) I think it was was pulled off really well!
That's a really interesting point to bring up. I was talking with a couple of friends when I was home this week and was simply watching their mouths form the words. They have a pretty noticeable drawl and don't overly spread their vowels. I'd venture to guess that since it is a regional dialect as opposed to an acquired skill (debatable) that it is a subconscious throat formation. I did notice that the singer-dancers didn't drop their jaw nearly as much during the songs where they used the stylized vocal. BUT, they didn't choose to open their mouths in any other direction.

Edit: I forgot that Clinton had stylized vocals during two songs this year. During "Out With My Boots On" and "It Happens". First time I saw that I was a little weirded out, but during Fairfield Finals they ripped it! Not to mention the clock...That works...Mind blown...Kablooey!

To say that Clinton is exactly the same every year is pretty funny coming from an Albertville fan whose used nothing but Mike Weaver's choreography for years. At least Clinton changes their theme yearly
