Our group is spelled with two "n"'s. The group began in the 1999-2000 season. (Just to reply to Mr. Temple) Hope everyone's pumped for saturday! Its gonna be awesome!

Atlantic is a 3A school from West Central Iowa. Their director is Luke Johnson and this is his first year at Atlantic.

Here are my predictions:

GC: Ankeny
1RU: Omaha Westside
2RU: Urbandale
3RU: Cedar Rapids Kennedy
4RU: Cedar Rapids Jefferson
5RU: Cedar Rapids Washington

Other placements:
7th- Southeast Polk
8th- Waukee
9th- Bloomington Jefferson
10th- West Des Moines Valley
11th- Ankeny prep
12th- Des Moines Lincoln
13th- Indianola
14th- Newton

I love how every year it seems everyone except me counts out Southeast Polk and then they come back to beat some MAJOR groups. I'm sure this year will be no exception. I think the Top 6 are pretty secure (of course there can be no certainties). Omaha Westside will continue off of it's high from Showstoppers Orlando and high preliminary placing at Onalaska and they will beat Urbandale. Their vocals will dominate Urbandale's. Also, Cedar Rapids Washington has already made huge improvements from Linn-Mar which include solidifying placings in all of their songs and reblocking the ballad (staging was the reason Washington was in 5th after day round). All of these top 6 groups except Ankeny have come off of VERY difficult competitions. Those 5 groups showed high performance levels at their competitions and this should be a good one!

p.s. Cedar Rapids Washington Vivace will place 1st in the 9th grade division after coming off an 8th placing overall at Linn-Mar. They could place top 10 in this varsity competition I think (yes they are really that good!) Urbandale Vitality will win the prep division (although CR Kennedy's Protege was very close at Linn-Mar)

I think you might be underestimating Perpetual Motion (Ankeny). They are very strong again this year.

But mainly I am posting to get the Showzam Thread up to the top since the competition is only
2 days away!!!! Good luck to Mrs. VW overseeing her first Showzam and to Mr. B in his first year also.
Save me a WARM seat in both auditoriums please!!!!

They are from Atlantic, Iowa.

Also I couldn't help but notice that our top six was exactly the same. Were you copying me?

Actually, kindly ignore that schedule posted earlier - it has changed slightly due to some tight timings with prep and varsity groups.

Go here to see the latest schedules and more information: http://www.johnstonchoirs.com/

I should be stumbling in after lunch, and look forward to a very interesting line up!

And a quick edit to remind y'all that varsity groups are in the MIDDLE SCHOOL center, and preps etc. are in the HIGH SCHOOL center accross the parking lot.

8th: Waukee
9th: Bloomington Jefferson
10th: Ankeny Prep

should be an interesting competition when you include
Urbandale- who just won a competition
Omaha- who just did very well at the cut-throat contest known as "onalaska"
CR Jefferson who just beat out GCS
CR Kennedy and Washington who just made finals at Linn-Mar
Waukee- who came out of nowhere last year
and don't forget bloomington jefferson, and ankeny!

Yep- it's been a hassle for all the students to have to park, then go in thru the gym doors or the main doors apparently. A plus for the middle school though is that the construction up front is done so now the bus' and general public will be able to enter through the new front section. (where the old one used to be)
QUOTE(Mr. Temple @ Jan 10 2008, 07:29 AM)
Wait! So the doors right outside the auditorium at the high schoole that face the middle school won't be accessible? So where will you have to enter and exit? Through the main doors or the ones down by the gym?

That's going to be a real pain for those of us who have to bounce back and forth between the two centers throughout the day.

they're adding onto a few parts of the school, so now there will be a show choir room, in addition a choir room, and a band room large enough to march inside for when it rains. amongst other rooms being made larger throughout the building.
because of this, the commons area, right outside of the auditorium won't be able to be used for food, like in years past, and people will have to enter through other doors due to the old ones being landlocked in by a new part of the building.

Construction?

I haven't been by the campus in some time, but I know that they're adding on to the h.s. (again - music and other classroom space), and still shifting some spaces around in the middle school where the varsity division contest is held.

Still no sight of a schedule though, which I hope will come out soon. I know they're crazed this week prepping for their first contest up at Onalaska - but this invite will be happening before we all know it!
