I have to agree with DandyDance on this one.

I think North Central has an amazing vocal presence and they really show it off in the Carmina Burana. Their Flying Home soloist is the best soloist I have ever heard in Show Choir. I hope he goes to a great music school, because he could have a seriously awesome future. But I also think Center Grove is really solid vocally this year and, to give them credit, sings as a complete ensemble for 95% of their show. So while I kind of expected North Central to win the vocal caption, I wasn't surprised to see CG take it.

But visually.... whoa. Again, to reiterate what Dandy said, North Central is a great show choir, and I am NOT dogging on them at all, but the level of visual sophistication Center Grove brings to the stage is on a different level than what NC does.

I'd be really curious to see how the visual judges placed everyone and what the point spreads were like.

Well, well, well!

What a competition.

Everyone thought NC was going to win, of course, with their vocals! And alas, Center Grove takes vocals and loses to NC with visual? WHAT A JOKE!

Can someone tell me what visuals NC had? Don't get me wrong, NC is a great sc, but to say they won with Visuals is a sham!

I thought vocals were the most important part of a show choir. If u win vocals-u win the contest!

Not at this isma scoring contest.

show choir is being ruined by this isma scoring but what are you going to do! As someone put it last week-from a Center Grove song-THERE'S NO POLITICS IN show choir!

HMMMMM!!

ISSMA scoring is 60% vocals and 40% visuals. However, if the scores are super close, it can go either way. We lost vocals to CG by half a point, and somehow it tipped the scale.

This happened last weekend with the Descants at BD. Descants only won best visuals, but still managed to get 1st place because the vocal score was so incredibly close.

congrats to everyone who made finals! i know that here in plainfield we were pretty stoked about getting fourth!

(GC/BVis) north central's show was amazing i loved your guy's opener (the visuals were awesome)! and ballad was a-mazing! you guys deserved GC

(1RU/BVoc) center grove's vocals were really good, but they always sound good prbly

(2RU) warren, i like the guys number the best, it's a catchy song that always gets stuck in my head

(3RU) PLAINFIELD....AWWWWW BB GO! we brought it with our vocals compared to how we sounded at Warren two weekends ago, so that was amazing. the ballad was spot on, we've gotten so much better on that one. visuals were amazing in prelims which showed in our scores (second visually in the afternoon, right behind CG). we really brought our game yesterday and it showed! GREAT JOB GUYS!

(4RU) carol's show choir lament was hilarious when i saw it in person during finals! i liked the guys costumes, haha, and you guys had a charleston number also, haha, so it was cool! you guys had a nice show.

great job again to all the groups!

Chesterton just needs to quit Indiana and attend the "Great River" invitational held in Davenport, IA on February 20th & 21st of 2009!

Just putting it out there.

It's really sad and troubling not to see them in these finals results, when as people have already said, it's nonsense that they didn't make it!

I am SHOCKED that Chesterton didn't make finals. Because they were AMAZING.
I am glad that NC received GC. Very well done.
But I would have MOST DEFINITELY put Chesterton in the finals.
I actually had Chesterton at 3rd after I saw everyone possibly up there with Center Grove.
But for them to not even be in finals blew me away.
Center Grove your ballad was beautiful and the character numbers were cute.
NC the ballad....I don't have to say anything else.
Plainfield very solid show and traditional I liked it a lot.
Carrol I loved the character pieces, you guys always have cute ones.
WC You were very passionate. Great Job!

Congratulations Everyone!
