i would looove to hear more feedback on Morgantown..Constructive criticism is welcomed!

feel free.

Loved the solo in the opener and the drum piece. I was very impressed to see how well you change from Broadway production in the past to show choir. BTW...I personally loved WICKED! The advice I would give is watch your vocals during chroegraphy and just clean some of the chroegraphy. I was impressed since this was your first competition. I wish you all the luck.

Another note....anyone going tell me scores...lol

A lot of people think we should've placed around 2nd or 3rd in the competition. Honestly, with all things considered we were all very grateful to recieve 5th place. I sorta felt our group was lethargic for whatever reason going into finals. And I personally lip synch'd everything, because I lost my voice.

Also, Colerain stayed at the same hotel as we did, they were very kind and left notes on our rooms for when we got back from finals. They said, mostly along the lines we had a very nice show and they congradulate us. I felt this was very hospitable and I'm glad they weren't sour towards us. They honestly should've made finals behind us at least.

More ruthlessly Twinsburg, in 03 they had all the freshman/sophmores leave the auditorium because the fire marshal decided that you can't stand in there (only along the backwalls).

The did the same in 04. They threw all students out at Piqua in 2004 also. It sucks for the performers, but it's something that has to be done sometimes.

Just to set the facts straight -- Poca has more seating capacity than Marysville, Beavercreek, Capital, Cabell Midland (auditorium), and a number of other venues. And talk about cramped -- have you ever been to Teays Valley?

It is common practice at EVERY competition I have been to (and they are many) for non-paying students to leave to make room for the paying customers. This is done only when the event begins to run out of space.

If event sponsors do not make money, then no one would be able to compete next year!

The day time awards were opened to everyone.

Thanks for telling me his name. He was great to talk with while we were working.

Yes, my son is a freshman too. We are blessed to have a Middle School show choir that competes so this is his fourth year in show choir. My daughter will be trying out for the Middle School show choir in May. Possibility to have two in two different groups for three years...Pray for me now....lol!

I won't have to worry about that until my daughter is in 9th grade and trys out for Music Express. Then I could have two in it. My son would be a Senior. I wish you luck. Let me know how it works out......

I found it rather odd that about halfway through the day they announced that only people who had payed could remain in the gym .... no show choir members.
Isn't most of the fun of competitions getting to see the other choirs? Isn't is amazing when people you don't even know cheer for you?

Well, she would be in Dunbar Middle School and he is in Nitro High School. We have quite a few parents that already do that this year. I just don't know how I would do both. You know that I HAVE to be involved with both since I am just a show choir groupie...lol

ohhhh i was thinking two different high schools and not one in middle school lol

Pretty sure you are talking about Steve Green. They always talk about the show choir kids bonding but us parents make some great friends too. Looking forward to the next three years!!!!

I love Garfield Heights. Each and every person that I have met has been wonderful. The kids have bonded with ours and the parents are amazing. I have really met some great people. I enjoyed talking to the man working the set, I did not get his name sadly enough. I spent a great deal of time in the prep area talking with him while we were each setting up.

It's amazing what you can accomplish with a bunch of dedicated parents, kids and show choir fanatics!!

What a great day we had!! The level of talent stuffed in that little school on Saturday was amazing!! Congrats to Garfield, another great proformance!!!!!!!!!

I really enjoy watching Edgewood, also. It is so fun!!

Hope to see some of you in Twinsburg.

This competition was amazing!

Cabell Midland- You all have really improved since the last time I saw you all. You all really had an entertaining show! I was a little annoyed eventually with the pronunciation of the CK sound. And I was a little creeped out by the facials at the end of Welcome to the Jungle. But I really liked your alls show overall.

Edgewood- Persnally I LOVED your alls show. I really thought you all should've atleast got 3rd..maybe 2nd. You all have pretty good vocals and your Choreo was clean...very easy..but very clean. Overall, you all should've placed higher than you did.

Garfield Heights- You all have REALLY come far since last year. I really liked the show, and your rendition of a great Journey song. You all had really solid vocals at the end of your show, and i was very impressed. But I dont really like when show choir's do songs that like..are meant to be funny and cute..such as your Geek song, but that's just me. You all definately should've placed higher.

St. Albans- Really good job! You're choreography was a lot better than last year, but it was VERY sloppy, especially in your last number. And I didnt really understand the orange and pink?. But your vocals were good, excet I felt like your crecendos were clearly staged. But overall, i liked the show better than last year.

Capital- I really liked your show. And you had some really clean choreo. But once again, i became annoyed with the CK sound. Your vocals were really good.. I felt like your opener was the best song in the show, but then it went downhill. But I really did LOVE your show..and it was much improved from past years. You all deserved your 2nd =)

Hurricane- Now for you. Wow!...that's all I can possibly say. You all were about 100 notches above everybody else at the competition. You all have SO much energy on that stage its unbelievable. Your vocals are always amazing, and this year INCREDIBLE. You're choreo is super super clean, and it's so intense all the time. You NEVER stop moving. The girls number was the only song I felt lacked the vocal integrity, but I still LOVED the way you all performed that song. And what can I say about Paradise City, you all rocked it. Interesting song choice, and I was totally amazed. Good luck against Marysville and Clinton, but I have faith that Fairfield will turn out well for you all.

And finally, my placements:

1) Hurricane
2) Garfield
3) Edgewood
4) Capital
5) St. Albans
6) Cabell Midland

and regarding the water, the toilets worked, and it didn't seem like the water was that much of a problem at all... i think it would be funny though if we saw kids going to the bathrooms in the porta potties on the MTV show, just for laughs... but it was very impressive that the Poca guys got those potties there overnight and were prepared to have a competition without water.

It started out a stessful day because WE didn't have water in the Dunbar area but I was very impressed that they were able to get the porta potties there in such short notice...like I said...no one's fault

Thanks for the compliments....they have worked very hard...I am very proud of them no matter what the outcome.
