who got all the caption awards?

Best Vocals
BEst Choreography etc etc

Other than the Rockbridge girls friggin blowing people away - (which I had heard they would) it seems like this one was all over the map. Who the heck is Oak park anyway? and how did Nevada not get #1 or #2 --- were these judges on crack? LOL Who were the judges anyway? I mean I know SMith-Cotton cant sing very well, but c'mon....at a competitionn of this calibur I certainly would have thought they would do better than 5th. Yikes! ohmy.gif

I was just wondering if you felt like apologizing to the multiple people you offended during this post....especially the kids from P Hill who put their heart and souls into organizing a "competition of this calibur".

It's a retro sixties theme. Elton John, Shake Your Bootie, Nicest Kids in Town...

Stuff like that.

I understand that people sometimes post on here when they are upset, so thanks for the explanation blacksheep. I don't think anyone will think less of you or Newscore.

So next up we have Troy. I guess it's looking to be an opportunity for some groups to prove themselves. Everyone better bring it though, because I've been looking at the lineup, and there is some very stiff competition. Only 6 finals spots, and twice as many deserving groups! Good luck everyone.

like i said everyone... i was i still bitter and i know i sounded like a butt head. thanks for not gettin TOO upset with me.

katie, it made me feel like total crap when u said that i wasnt givin satin' n lace props. i am SO sorry. i totally didnt mean for it to sound that way. i think u all are SO awesome. i was very proud of u ladies making finals. upset that u scored higher than us haha, but proud. but i was never upset at ANY of the choirs, i'm very sorry if it came out that way.

qwiksilver i agree with what u said. that's why i was worried about this competition cause unexpected things seem to happen, like us beating u last year (by a tie breaker).

someone said that our choreographer was at rockbridge; haha i wish. we never see him anywhere. we dont have chad anymore, we have mike weaver.

and i know that the choir part is usually more important than the show part. and even tho our vocals were our weak point its not like they were THAT bad. i thought that our dancing more than made up for it. mainly because that was our best performance so far this year and i thought that we were really good. but i guess not, i mean, u all saw the show and so u would know better what it looked like than i.

but like i said, im really sorry for sounding like i was upset at other choirs and was a butt about it. " border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> hopefully u all forgive me for it and dont think worse of new score just cause of me. usually i dont say nething mean on here. good job everyone

I really don't think that dancing can make up for vocals. I'm not talking about your group in particular but if I had to go watch a show that was nothing but dancing I wouldn't be very interested. This may just be the way I am, but Im sure other people would agree. It isn't the dance moves that send chills up your spine, it is the music and the way the groups can add their own touch to it. It's not limited to your choir either. Our group needs to work on vocals too and hopefully we can get it together before the next competition. The important thing is to have fun and enjoy the time you have now. It will be over before you know it.

Yea I agree that the judging in regards to Troy has kinda been messed up, but the judge that causes that to happen wasn't even there this year. That's the funny part. Probably a good thing!

Hey Jess!

Sorry I couldnt make it to good ol P-Hill this weekend. College stuff.

As for the judging, this is just the same old stuff that always seemed to happen at Pleasant Hill. Like the year our prep group beat us? And then the next year when Smith-Cotton beat us? Always an uproar. I kinda enjoy it. A little excitement here and there never hurt anyone, and it just makes all the groups work harder.

Hope to see all of you at Troy! Like I always say (I gotta plug here, sorry) make sure you come up to the sound table and say hi to me. Im the tall dorky kid behind he computer.

Oh Boy! I was waiting for it to happen. Someone gets upset about the results, and submits a post that makes their group look bad. Never fails!

So I understand that Smith Cotton is used to being in the top scores, and I completely respect that. I also completely respect the fact that you are upset about the loss, blacksheep. I probably would be too. However, if you are going to get on here and say how the judging was wacked out, please tell me your opinions on why the other groups should have placed lower than you. Afterall, you did have the opportunity to see all of the groups go, so you should have a hold on your opinion. And if you took the time to tell me why the judging is screwed up, I would be happy to respect that opinion. I will be looking forward to your post, but until then, here is my opinion.

(By the way Blacksheep, it's show choir, not show choir, or show choir. It's a combination of both parts. And that goes for all of you out there who try to argue it's one over the other.)

Hannibal- Solid show. I liked a lot of your songs, and thought you performed them well. Some of the singing was not quite up to par, but you all were a lot of fun to watch. You kept me entertained throughout the show. Like Mrs. Dollins said, it is an honor for your all to place in finals.

Smith Cotton- Also a solid show. I enjoyed the high energy choreography, and sharpness of the moves. Your energy throughout the show was maintained. I really like your song selection. In my opinion singing was your downfall. I felt like you were screaming at me the whole time and I didn't hear any dynamics. I know you all have wonderful voices, and I don't understand where they all are. If you all could just bring the "pretty" voices back out, I think you would go far. I think this was a suitable placing for where your vocals are at.

Nevada-I love you guys, but you are somewhere along the same lines as my comment to Newscore. Your show is great, songs are awesome, and choreography is clean. Vocals are your weakness (and I think you know that! ) I just want some dynamics and pretty voices! Haha. I did feel you blended better than Newscore, and that's why I agree with your placing above them.

Parkway Central- Singing is great as always, choreography was clean as well. And for everyone who dogs you all for not being on risers and not having costume changes and not this and that, they can stick it where the sun don't shine! Only kidding... If the competition were solely based on show, Newscore and Nevada would always win, but its not. Your vocals outweighed their shows, and that is why you placed where you did. My only request is a different color of costume. :-P I would love to see you all in blue and green next year. Put that request in for me! (Kidding again!)

Rockbride-Wow...where did you GIRLS come from?! You all are amazingly talented. I usually hate women's groups because they are so boring and can't sing. You sounds awesome, your choreography was great, and I loved your costumes. I hate the song it's raining men because it's SO overused, but I loved you ladies doing it. Here we have a group which can sing pretty, blend, dance, have fun, and entertain...that's what I call a good show choir!

Oak Park- I'm so proud of you all. All the reasons I've listed already- singing, dancing, show, etc.- are the reasons you guys won. I'm not going to sit here and say that you are the best show choir in the world (plus most of you won't see this! :-P) But I will say you deserved your GC. You outsang and outdanced the rest of the groups, and that is because you have a wonderful director who knows what show choir is about. You all understand the concept of a balanced show. Congrats.

And that, ladies and gents, is my opinion. Now feel free to attack or applaud it, but don't forget to support your opinion. I really do respect all of the groups, I just hate to see one bad apple make the whole group look sour. Everyone should be good sports, afterall, there are many more competitions for the sour groups to prove themselves! Right?

WoW! This is conversation is pretty crazy! That's all I gotta say. Thanks to people who commented about Nevada and to everyone who supported us. I think everybody did a good job. But, I see it as, hey we're just gonna have to work even harder for the next competition. Also, I was a little upset, I'm not gonna lie, but not upset at any particular group. The reason why I was upset, is that it's my senior year, and I won't get to do this again. Not because some group placed higher or lower than us. As soon as they announced finals, I knew it was gonna be a close one. I told you, I don't make predictions, and this is the reason why...because ANYTHING can happen. Everybody did a good job and congrats! Ya know, my friend Kate from Rock Bridge has never been to finals before. And to see the look on her face whenever they found out they won 2nd place was the best feeling in the world. It's people like her that deserve stuff like that. Well, I'm gonna get offa here..latta!~Ash

Thanks for the nice comments about Nevada, although I have to admit, it's getting old hearing that 'we should've placed higher' at all the competitions we go to. Oh well. We were weak vocally in finals, so we plan to work on that and hopefully improve for Troy. I would like to say congrats to Satin and Lace, I was impressed. New Score I'm glad you guys made finals, I freaked when you didn't get in the top two of your class. Hannibal, I still didn't get to see your show, but I plan on doing so before the year is over!!

Thank you, doogsixes77

Pleasant Hill was a BLAST! WOW I had so much fun! senior year is starting to look up......I'm so so so grateful we made finals-I was pretty concerned. And I honestly couldn't care that we were 6th in finals-so what? We made finals, and the scores for prelims and finals were pretty close together. We went and changed a lot of stuff after prelims and actually went through with the changes in finals, so we couldn't ask for anything more. The only goal we had going into PHill was to place higher than Warrensburg......and you could say we did that

Neosho-Love Doctor. wow....your guys can shake it, haha
Rockbridge Mixed-wow! pretty cool.....Kate! awesome solo! and Taylor too!
Rockbridge Girls-WOW! Best girls choir I've seen since Nashville 2 years ago....
Oak Park-I'm so happy for you! our choreographer is pretty cool, isn't he? ;)
Parkway-YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Best ballad all the way!! I love you guys!!!
PHill-ahhH!!!! Veryveryvery cool, glad I got to see your show!! an amaaazing solo Jeff-were you in all-state choir last year, by chance?

Thank you PHill! You all host the most fun competition that I've been to in 3 years....I'm going to miss it a lot!

Hey Amy! This weekend was a blast and I have learned a lot in the past 2 weekends. What a great time! show choir is awesome! Haha.... yea... I am so glad that we made finals. I think it has given us hope! Im really excited and, like you, could care less that we got 6th. Way better than last weekend at Rockbridge! Thanks to everyone said nice things about us. I think that everyone in finals were great! There are others that I thought were really good too. Im horrible with names and remembering which groups did what, so Im sorry that I cant give you a favorites list. I can't wait until the next competition!

Brandon
