it was awesome to see all these different groups even though  they all had the same kind of style adn sequence of show.

Isn't that what most Iowa show choirs are usually accused of? Though I really can't say that Laff. Jeff. had the same 'kind of style and sequence of show' as anyone else I saw this year.

Anyway - I admit I haven't seen a great many of the choirs on this list, but I did see Laff. Jeff at Mundelein, and having done that - I knew it would take one heck of a performance to outscore them. They blew me away in March, and I can only imagine it got even better.

Sure, their show may not be to everyone's taste - and while it is filled with tons of flashy Vegas styled effects, they back it up with some seriously good singing, great performing (they can sell their show better than just about anyone I've seen all season), and great originality.

For example, their ballad - Astonishing - is the big Act I finale from the new musical Little Women, which JUST opened on Broadway this season. The cast CD isn't even in stores yet! I have no idea of how they got their fingers on it - but that's called doing your homework, to sing a song before it becomes too 'popular' (intended pun on this season's way overdone B-way musical) You can hear Sutton Foster singing it at the website www.littlewomenonbroadway.com - don't click 'skip intro' cuz that's when it plays. Honestly, I think I like Laff Jeff's vocals on the song better!

I thought we had an awesome show...it's just what the judges liked that was out there..we where the only group there with 4 risers and no back-drop..so idk...we also were missing 8 ppl..so we were confused bout the results..but thats what happens.

I do have to say..that this comp.was amazing and i love indiana show choir..!!! it was awesome to see all these different groups even though they all had the same kind of style adn sequence of show.but it was amazing and congrats to all..although my favorite group..Crete ....everyone in that group can dance and you can hear some pretty dang good singers!!! thanks to our hoost linsie and brittiany you guys are awesome!! although the results didn't come out as we would have hoped...we don't care.b/c we had a great weekend and had a great time performing.

Here are some amateur Edgewood pictures of Crete, Highland, and DeKalb.
Please forgive any bluriness or wash-outs - light exposure was odd from where I was seated.
If you would like me to email you a certain picture, just ask! I take pictures so that they can be passed on to choir members.

If you thought her solo song this year was good, you should have heard last year's! I remember Jennifer singing "No Greater Love" with her mom playing piano at Highland's invitational. She won everyone's hearts and brought the house down and then WON!
Sidenote: It would be fabulous to get all the Helvering kids plus mom to sing together. I have an old Friendship Company cassette tape with them singing.

Ya i taught her all she knows...j/k. but seriously your p.s. is the coolest think in the world i love the friendship company

Okay, you are an amazing singer.

Had to say that. I walked in right as you were beginning your solo and I was like "Holy CRAP, she can sing."

Thanks!  My sister and I were both there...she is a Freshman at Highland and I am a Junior at Anderson...she was actually the best performer from Highland Starliters!!!  We also have 2 other brothers (both Juniors) and another sister (Sophomore) in Anderson Singers.

Congrats to Lafayette. You're guy's show was insane, and it was very visually fun to watch especially those steps. My god where'd u guys come up with the platform arrangement? I thought our's was erratic but ur's, wow. But O MY GOD where did u find a girl brave enough to jump from the top steps. That scared the crap out of me. were the judges screaming out of fright in the tapes, i know i would.

And cavaliers, great job, u guys did a wonderful job with ur show, alot of our people loved how together ur pony step was. and ur britanny spears song was really nice. Oh and thanx for Clark, we're takin good care of him.

They are based out of Mississippi, I believe.

So, it might take a while for them to get the recent pictures up. They took pictures at our competition and they weren't up for two weeks.
