Hi everybody,
I was the loud mouth in the back row, right next to the crying baby...I don't know why she didn't take that thing outside...she was there for the Aztec Singers anyways, so why make us listen to her baby be a show choir critic?....OKAY

My nice comments....

-Good Job EVERYONE!

My not nice comments...

First the Placing Groups-

Arcadia- What can I say. You left me speechless. 2 of the best songs I have ever heard, especially from you. The best sound I have ever heard. Your ballad was PERFECT, I could not believe what I was hearing. Autumn Leaves I think it was called. I could hear every note, perfect balance, I don't know about the pitch, I had a cruddy seat near the staircase so I couldn't concentrate. I'm sure it was dead on. "Remember" I think was the walking ballad, I might have those mixed up. I was surprised by that song. It was beautiful to listen to, beautifully sung. But what surprised me the most was the choreography. I've seen what your choreographer has done in the past with the walking ballad before and this was her best work yet. Gorgeous, and well done.
I have to say, this year is THE BEST sounding Chanteurs I have ever heard, that includes 2001 and 2002 and last year as well as any recordings I may have stumbled apon. Also this could be the biggest group I've seen.
Rollie, I wanted to shake your hand after your group performed, way before you took 1st and Music. I was just so pleased with your group. I also just have to say that this show looked like you spent A LOT of hours working on, maybe started early with some of the songs. BEAUTIFUL and well deserved 1st.

Extras
Best A Capella - Chanteurs "Autumn Leaves" or was it "Remember"
Best Song - Chanteurs "Remember" or was it "Autumn Leaves" (the walking ballad.
Best Choreography - TIES Arcadia's "Walking Ballad"/ Eastlake's "Flashdance" (YIKES!)/ Burroughs (Take your pick)
Most Entertaining- Carlsbad
Best Closer - El Rancho
Best Costumes - TIE Carlsbad/Burroughs/Serrano/Brea (Ya'll look damn fine!)
*The UNDERDOG award - Eastlake
All in my opinion.
Hottest Ladies - Burroughs
Just a side note. There was A LOT of shouting by the groups this year, not all but some. I think it definitely affected the placings. Besides it can kill your voice for the rest of your life. Be careful. Just a thought, "Less is more". Great example, "Chantuers"

thanks much zane.

ps- a capella was autumn leaves
and walking ballad was remember

Shaggy blonde hair...we just have so many blondes! Hmmm. I'll be sure to keep a look out the next time. Could have been Max..Dylan..

Thanks for all the nice comments Zane, and for choosing us as the hottest ladies! ;)

You're welcome. I meant to say a lot more but then you might catch on that I'm in love with you (Powerhouse)

Now the guy if I remember, wasn't too tall, on the skinnier side, and it may have been the closer where the girls are dancing in the front and the guys are in the back. He's close to the center when he did the move. The way I can describe the move is the same move Martin Lawrence does in Big Momma's house on the previews as Big Momma. Kind of a bust and and thrust with a squat and they move to the right a little. All the guys are doing it. But he was going hog wild. That's why he got the award.

~chris~

Yes I heard you, and I was just about ready to......shsh you back...but that would have been mean.

I think I heard you singing along to "Sing Me To Heaven" with the Citris Singers.

So in the spirit of show choir Trash page back in the day.
-your pitch was off
-you had NO blend whatsoever. It was like you were singing behind me or something.
-and your costume didn't match the rest of the group.

Totally joking just so you know.

El Rancho - I wasn't sure what to expect from you. I remember your underdog 1st place at Fullerton in 2002. And that is all I had to base you on. I thought your show was good and suprising. Difficulty was definitely there. More flips than any other group. The sound was large and in charge. But the judges might have taken points for pushing the sound a little too much. In my head I wasn't sure where to place you. All I can say is it was a lot higher than you got.

Thanks very much. Hardly any of the students come on here and read this kind of stuff. I just stumble in here due to my own curiosity. I'm excited for when our kids work out the bugs, add the last segments of the show, along with some costume changes. That was about 3/4 of the show last night. It was still a fun bit. I think I was slammin' a little too hard on the guitar in the last number. Anywho, thanks for the input. Take care.

I also just have to say that this show looked like you spent A LOT of hours working on, maybe started early with some of the songs. BEAUTIFUL and well deserved 1st.

John Burroughs- The group I have a secret love for. You were superb again. It was refreshing to hear such beautiful singing and exciting dancing. I love your choreographer, and I can't wait to see the show complete. Also "mad props" to the soloist on the extra slippery stage this evening, didn't even look phased and sang her heart out. Also I've never seen such fun dancing guys, I was smiling the whole time the guys did their dancing on the risers. Cheers to another wonderful year for Powerhouse.

Brea Olinda- It was like I saw 2 Diamond Bars this year. It was a classic Willert show, the choreography and props made me think Brea "Diamond Bar Jr." The part that made my eyes go wild was with all your hand movements. They were clean, precise and made a really cool effect. Good Job.

Diamond Bar - I see familiar faces but the show seemed different.(DUH) You had some really great solos through the whole show and I think you worked hard for that trophy. Don't think I didn't like you, I just have a personal thing with "Tears in Heaven" I made the mistake of singing at my grandmothers funeral and I can't listen to it anymore. The a capella I thought you did very well on. Good solos. I think the song itself is annoying, I've heard it before and wish it was arranged in different chords. You have potential to do really good this year. Congratulations on 4th.

Glendora- My what big group you have!!! All the better to place with... You had a strong girls sound the whole way through and your show was solid, I'm not sure if it was you or Ramona that did "nothing can stop me now" 2 years ago, with the extremely limber guy, and the "Somewhere" ballad. But either way the choreography was creative and you sang strong through out the show. GOOD JOB! First time I've seen you place at Aztec! WOOT!....OH, besides the closer, let your guys be in the front, or at least be seen. They were hiding in the back through most of the show and it made it hard to hear them and see them.

To the groups that didn't place. There were some surprising moments and groups I personally placed over othergroups. Keeping it simple I will do some comments and highlights of the groups that didn't walk away with cheap plastic.

Eastlake*-You blew me away. Incredible dancing talent in that group as well as singing. Everyone in that group deserves to be there. Your choreography was INSANE!!! I don't think I could even attempt to do that, you look like you came prepared for this competition. There was hardly a hair out of place when it came to your dancing. Your singing I was very impressed with, also very upset with the judges for not placing you. 14 people against groups of 30-50. The challenge is emmense and I personally think you were amazing. The only problem I can think of is the blend of the singers. It's not easy to do, but I thought you did really good and your blend was as much as I could expect. It's just not easy to do, is all I can say. I really liked you. Awesome everything.

Serrano-I miss theme shows and I'm glad you did a full theme. I liked "A Space Odyssey" the movie so I enjoyed your show. One of the best shows I've seen from you. The costumes were awesome and I think you had a really exciting set this year. I can't say I would have placed you though. Still you kept me entertained, which is something I can't say for the rest of the competition. Props for the props.

Carlsbad- I'd call your show the most entertaining and enjoyable. I placed you 4th is all I should say.
