basically you kids wasted 2 and a half pages writing absolutely nothing important. Nobody cares what place your choir got, we don't even know where you came from.
What is significant is the placements that the advance mixed groups just got.
1st - Brea
2nd - Arcadia
3rd- Burbank
4th- Burroughs
5th- Hart
only words to explain this = what in the heck?
Don't worry burbank burroughs and hart, go to the top three from each state forum and you are the only ones named representing California. Burbank just proved that a few weeks ago by beating extremely stiff competition in the midwest ( motherland of show choir ) and im sure Burroughs will prove that soon enough. This reminds me of a certain competition last year that everyone was totally confused with the placements...
Sorry but this is a ridiculous outcome.
(sorry for any spelling errors , im on a sidekick :-D )
My favorite part of show choir is when the heavens open and Burbank, Burroughs, and Hart descend from Mount Olympus and perform for us mere mortals. After all they have traveled to the Midwest and have been proven worthy to rule over the show choir kingdom. Get a grip! (This is not a comment on those groups they're awesome!)
Burbank Sounddogs' transition song: if i had a million dollars is stuck in my head.. its a really catchy tune, and im sure its stuck in the heads of plenty.. does anyone know who originated that song?

The Los Al Competition was so much fun. Both to perform in and watch. The sound was so good that on every choir i watched I was like Wow !
Bonita- Your Love Heals song is stuck in my head, its become one of my favorites. Cory (I believe her name is) and Jacob are absolutly amazing.
Burbank- Still loving your show. Can't wait to see your complete show at Socal!
Burroughs- Amazing as well. You guys are so nice, you guys are a great group and so nice. Thanks to Bruce for coming into our bus to say Hi and everyone else for their support. We Love Burroughs!
Brea: Congratulations. Great energy from start to finish.
[And as Mr. A said, the Techies were absolutly amazing. Thank you so much for helping Chula Vista. We really appreciate it!] The Los Alamitos comp. was alot of fun! The video was absolutly amazing and totally funny. How you guys did Shadowlands made me laugh so hard. It was all so funny and in good fun. It was great! Congratulations.
Heh. I wanted to watch Saturday's competition but we heard tix were sold out...
Congrats to everyone who placed in their respective divisions... Damn. We were really disappointed that we didn't get to see the video. The Aztec Singer newbies (myself included) especially heard a lot about them and wanted to see but we didn't 'cause it was late...
And damn. We thought we did pretty okay, but I guess not... Most of us were wondering if we got marked down because of the one minute overtime we had because of the power issue and we haven't seen the scoresheet since we were all shooed home before we could take a look last friday...
And watching Rancho Verde really made me wanna watch Sequins. And my friend told me that Soundwaves' volcano was supposed to erupt? :0
Thanks to our hosts, you guys were great. Sorry if I can't remember your name, I wasn't really paying attention so... XD But yeah. Thanks. I had fun at Los Al.
I love how 2? or 3? people from the intermediate division took up 2+ pages of this post to bicker over something so trivial as points, percentage, and placements.
The fact is, that the judges gave the trophy to a group, believing that they deserved it. Thus, there must be SOME credibility with those "judges" that we ask to adjudicate the competitions, right?
Unless of course, some of you high schoolers can do any better? Don't knock the judges. They are there for a reason. I think I've seen 85974542 people before me saying this same exact thing in a post, but for some reason people do not absorb that LITTLE piece of information.
When you get back to class tomorrow, talk to your directors and find out what really went down, how the scores were given, and what YOUR group did wrong to get this highly regarded "placement" that you didn't want to receive.
And yes, in the years past, receiving the musicianship plaque meant the most to a lot of us(hey, 1st or 2nd wasn't that bad of a reward either!).
but like the los al vid said, we just stand around and we STILL place, not to mention our many music awards. >.<
so seriously, if you`re gonna keep bagging on arcadia cuhs we`re boring? check our record. we must be doing something right.
p.s. burbank was awesome. didn`t watch burroughs cuhs i was pooped but i`m sure ya`ll were great too. congrats to brea~! i`m still amazed that you guys manage to finish your uberly long set with so much enthusiasm.
p.p.s. ask any arcadia kid. we don`t care about placing. we care about music.
p.p.p.s. the video was funny. " border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> gjob guys.
I'm so glad everyone enjoyed the video! we worked soo hard.. ESPECIALLY patrick who stayed up late nights all this week editing it with our editor and he wrote the script.. major props to him..
all i can say for me is that it was fun lip syncing to magic power.. haha. and being one of the trees
thank you to everyone who was made fun of for being good sports.. btw. we made fun of oursevles in the video by saying we were b-division material.. idk if anyoen caught that. i know i didnt until like the 3rd time i saw it.
no matter what scores were i had fun. especially with our host, shane who after the competition we all went outside with his boombox and played some gangster music. and as you all know bonita is pretty dang ghetto, so we were definitely having lots of fun with that. hahaha.

i was going to comment about the hilarity of this forum and all the ruckus that we create for ourselves because we all decided that our opinions mattered more than the judges', but instead i'm just going to say this one thing:
at the next competition, after the awards, if you disagree with the results, please think about what you say before you loudly exclaim that "this wasnt a real competition" simply because you think that you or one of your idol choirs were "robbed." Just consider what a mere passerby would think after that, especially if they did well.
i honestly don't really care (i think Arcadia kids stopped caring about what people said about us a long time ago lol) but i think some of those comments should just be saved for your show choir diaries at home. =) as that tech_chix girl said, "we all know who's better" anyway, right? -_______- of course.
so yeah. that is my one comment for this comp... besides the obvious fact that OUR HOSTS WERE UBER NICE I LOVED THEM (but i forgot their names >.< sorry) and CONGRATS to Brea =)
0hh yeah! sorry this is more than one comment, but that video was FREAKIN G. props f'sh0 ^^
<3 -emily
true that, emily! ( : i agree with the "think before loudly exlaim." it's good that we have a forum, where we can interact with each other. but its not too great when it becomes a "rawr" forum, which often times, it DOES become.
that video was crazy hilarious. i love you guys' videos! ^^ it never fails to make me laugh.
--EDIT
oh yeah, i forgot to mention, thank you to our hosts! i think it was dana and t___? sorry, i'm really bad with names, but, a big thank you!
Yeah, I echo the sentiment. Hearing people call home saying, "That wasn't a real competition anyway; the results were messed up" isn't exactly encouraging to everyone. I'm sure everyone tried their best and there will always be ongoing debates in the show choir realm - but don't forget that it's all in good fun.

Hi everyone,
My congratulations to Dr. Randi Carp and her wonderful parents and students for hosting such a wonderful competition this weekend. I always say, everyone has a great time until the awards are announced. Just like sports, we all want our home team to win. I personally wish this were possible. I was in that auditorium from 9 Am to 10:30 PM watching and listening to some wonderful groups. The thing that always impresses me is how hard everyone works, and how dedicated they are to their art. WOW! This competition was full of great music, dance, energy, humor, creativity and passion. I couldn't have asked for a more inspiring day. Our Los Alamitos hosts were so accomodating, and as a teacher, I really appreciated the special care Randi and the kids gave us.
Congratulations to all of the groups competing at Los Alamitos who participated and shared their awesome talent, skill and passion for the arts. I am so excited about so many groups loving what I love, and my kids love, MUSIC and PERFORMING. I've been doing this since the late seventies, and it never gets old. For me, competition is not about the final rankings, but about the final experience. Show choir is alive and well in Southern California because of all of us who love it. Thank you all for creating the energy that allows us to keep going show after show, year after year, because we love it. In a perfect world, the negativity brought on by competition will give way to the love of show choir that ties us all together.
