I think this Aztec Sing has to be one of the best I have gone to.

Brea-This was probably my favorite show of the night. Dave Willert is amazing and so good. I knew you guys were going to be great this year but you guys just blew me away. I can't wait like alawys to see you guys and I might go to you Spring Concert again this year because last years was so good.

thanks, dave REALLY is amazing!!!!!

in the words of our director, "believe, or everything will turn to dust" " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I think this Aztec Sing has to be one of the best I have gone to.

Burbank-I loved your show and I can't wait to see you again later in the year. I really enjoyed the costumes in the opening number and you had the best acapella that night in my opinion. I also liked the 60's little medley and every song in it.
Glendora- I have never seen or heard anything from Chorus Line but I really enjoyed it when you did it. I liked your acpella because it reminded me of the Notebook and it made me sad. Well you guys changed quite a bit in all the years I have seen you and it was a good change I think.
Arcadia-Another flawless show like always. I enjoyed your acapella and you guys sing so well I am jealous of you.
Mark Keppel- I thought you guys were good and with some more work you can do better in the year and good luck.
Burroughs-I am mad I didn't get to see you because we were warming up but I saw a tape of you guys and I loved it. Also thank you for letting us use your risers.
Diamond Bar-I am glad I ran back to my seat in time to see you guys. I enjoyed every song you guys did and it was a really good show put together.
Serrano-I think this was one of the favorites of everyone. Wonderful choice of songs it got me going and I mad we can't see you at TOC because you are before us.
Brea-This was probably my favorite show of the night. Dave Willert is amazing and so good. I knew you guys were going to be great this year but you guys just blew me away. I can't wait like alawys to see you guys and I might go to you Spring Concert again this year because last years was so good.

" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> aztec was funn.

serrano was by far the most entertaining..from thriller to sandman to..just..everything... loll..so much...going on in their set.

as for people bagging on other choirs..whatevers.

honestly? i was anticipating a lot more from burroughs....and...it could have been better. i look forward to seeing you guys at other comps though. ya`ll were my favee last year. " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

i`m not gonna go crazy and say that arcadia was the bomb cuhs i personally didn`t hear it full on (was backstage). i just watched youtube vids. but after watching that all i have to say is...wow..they were soft. TT_TT lol. idk. it could be a good thing? ahah.

anyway, everyone that i got to see did well. lol..stop arguing ya`ll.

"we`re all in this together." " border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

" border="0" alt="horse.gif" /> btw..this smiley is TITE.

i just want to sayy.. that this is my first (and last) year on Chanteurs (or let alone on a show choir) and that competing against such talented schools gives me such an AMAZING feeling. my parents, who are used to being basketball parents, were sooo impressed by everyone, and they want to come to every competition (they loved brea btw, so ups to you).

i honestly don't know much about how the scoring goes, and how all of the technicalities go into play.

but just remember that we're all here because we looove to sing, dance and perform. it should be something thats positive for all of us, not something to start forum feuds (: and... rumors about people not deserving what... in the end, it's up to the judges. and we're not one of them. it's life. we move on. just step it up at the next comp<3 then again, i'm new. what do i know?

i'm sure each of the groups wont cease to amaze me.
this show choir world is one cuhhraazy place, but i digg it.

congratulations to everyone (:

that is soooo true and tell your parents thanks!! =]

we all were impressed by you guys too!!

too bad you didnt decide to join show choir sooner

but at least you did before it was too late...

soo UPS TO YOU from moving from basketball to choir

that takes gut!!! Ü

an that is true that its up to the judges in the end

Someone helped themself to my gear during the show backstage. Uncool. I found that nearly $100 bucks worth of cables were taken. Some people need to grow up man, that wasn't cool.

Calm down, Neil! First of all, you might want to be a little more accurate with your information, especially about the group you were a part of for three years. Our soloist was in the second song and we did change positions during the first song. We never stay in one place, except on the ballad.

I was wrong... there are two layout changes, not including entrances.
Now, i'm not saying that's totally a bad thing. In fact, the wrost thing to do is to spend the whole time running all over the stage, really. However, in my own opinion, it was kinda noticable that there wasn't much movement (layout wise). It not that important, though, overall. I think you guys won by a small landslide.

QUOTE(Rammar @ Jan 28 2007, 10:33 AM)
Dynamics is a difficult issue to discuss. We aren't as loud as most groups for two basic reasons: a) we are smaller (33 members) than most of the other groups and I don't teach "belt" and don't believe in forcing the sound at all. We basically have a studio sound. Most of our performances are at close range to the audience and in smaller venues. If we threw out more sound, the audiences would be holding their ears and our blend , balance, and intonation would go out the window. I like to hear the sound most of the groups put out there and , in most cases, it fits the song they are singing. It just isn't our concept. We do very well in the "dynamics" category at every competition because it's about how you use dynamics, not how loud you sing.

This is something everyone needs to read and understand. Good job.

Its about a 2 hour drive or so from chula to Citrus. What noah meant was roundtrip, the time getting up there and coming back down to san diego. Altogether, about 5 hours.

o ok. i thought it it was 5 there and 5 hours back. i thinking, "how bad must the traffic be?"
lol
glad you guys came and watched, cant wait to see you on friday!

Thank you jbhsvmasoundwave, I also thought Powerhouse was great. We all have lots to work on this year, which is what makes it so fun. People just have to be careful what they say on the internet, because it reflects on you and the group you're from. When you hear people saying things like that, remember that opinions can be biased, especially when emotions are involved. If people weren't emotionally involved in their own group (to the point of bias) this whole genre would be much less interesting.

I think the judges comments are going to be quite helpful in the development of our set this year. Mr. Belan made a really great comment that I think will help us take the a cappella to the next level. Its exciting stuff really.

Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing weekend!

We (Chula Vista) were so excited to go watch everyone at Aztec Sing. Since we had school that day we left right when the bell rang so we would not miss a thing " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> The drive was well worth it. We love to show our support when were not performing. You all were great and entertaining. SO excited for next week.

i chula vista really that far from azusa?

Actually, one of the most impressive groups there has not been mentioned. There were at least 23 people from Chula Vista in the audience. Driving 5 hours round trip and NOT even competing deserves some kind of trophy......xxx

I was very impressed with every single choir on Friday. I made sure that I saw as many I as I could, only missing Mark Keppel because we were in the warm-up room.

Burbank - Totally different from anything that i expected. Great dancing, great vocals, cool costumes! You guys put on an amazing show setting an incredibly high standard for the night. Loved your acapella and was pleasently surprised with the way you pulled off the 60's medly.

Glendora - Nice upgrade to risers and congrats on a very entertaing show. You guys have really stepped up.

Arcadia - You guys sounded absolutely flawless. But no surprise there. You guys really did sing a fanatastic show. I also noticed a bit more dancing from guys along with some cool flips, really awesome!

El Rancho - Loved you guys! Your always one of my favorites to watch. I Loved the wedding song at the end!!!!

Diamond Bar - Another group that has stepped up. I liked your costumes and you guys put on a great show. Congrats on 4th place!

Serrano - The only group that can scare the crap out of everyone and make them laugh out loud within 15 minutes. Awesome costumes and stunts!

Brea - WOW! You guys blew me away. I was amazed with the high energy of you show. It definitly helps that you guys have twice as many people. Your show was extremely entertaing!

Great Competition! I can't wait till next week to see Hart, Los Al, Chula and Bonita!!!!

This i a same old tired debate that I've seen on this forum for a couple years now. So some people use risers. So some people don't. So some choirs sing gospel and are loud and harsh and make you sit up with your eyes wide open (sometimes hapily, sometimes in pain)and others are so quiet and slow that they lull you to sleep. We're all different, and basically are left to a bunch of old white guys to decide which was "best" that night.

Enjoy your own opinions, because this world would be waaaay more boring if everyone was doing the same thing all the time!

haha the judges arent always white guys

I want to say sorry to anyone who thought I was dissing Arcadia. That is not what it was meant at all. I was just stating that I overheard some say they were totally shocked. And I know Arcadia beat Burroughs...I never said Burroughs deserved to be first...honestly they were great...but not great enough to be first last night. Sorry again.
