I'm going to predict that Papio South will take GC but not sweep all the captions. The other places are hard to predict. Each group has strengths and weaknesses. With such emphasis on vocals, this competition could be very different than others! I'm so excited to finally see some of these groups again!

I hinted at this in a previous post. To clarify, Finals are determined by points and any group is eligible to go to finals. Good luck to all!

But like, GC, 1RU, 2RU, etc., (after finals performances) are those placements determined by scores or Olympic ordinals where are scores are converted in to rankings?

Also, Diego, are finals placements determined by points or ordinals?

I don't think WIG will be out of the top 2. They are probably the most balanced group here when it comes to Choreography, Vocals, and Band. Elkhorn has good vocals, but then Elkhorn South has good choreography. Millard North has great a great music output with their vocals and band, but still Millard West excels in all 3 categories, not just stick out in one. You could even go as far as saying Millard West could get a GC with only having Best Band, or no captions at all. I'm not saying that's going to happen, but out of any of the groups here, they are the only group that could pull something like that off. That being said, groups are going to have to BRAWL for captions, because without Westside, anyone can take anything. This will be close down to the half points, I'm extremely excited to see how it turns out.

Over at Elkhorn we are just praying that the metro schools don't cancel because of the snow like last year. If they do, we (and the other metro schools) probably won't be able to go

A while back this competition out heavier emphasis on vocals than any other comp I've seen. Choreo was only 20 points and band was 5 or 10, and vocals were near or over 100. Anyone know if that has since changed?

That is not exactly all the points are taken from as there are many factors that are taken into account. Overall, there are three categories: Vocals, Performance, and Show. Vocals are 100 points and then Performance and Show at 50 points each. All choirs are judged on this same 200 point system, so anyone is eligible for finals on an equal level! I cannot give specifics under each category, but it is not much different than any other competition scoring system. I hope this helped...

If Vocal points weigh so heavily, why put Papio South in 4th (Considering that you gave them BV)? Just curious. And then have Elkhorn move down?

Hmmmm. Good point! lol I forgot to read that part... Lemme revise it haha. Thanks for pointing that out! Reason why I had Elkhorn move down was that most of their prelim performances, in my opinion, were better than their finals performances. Just my opinion!

Each one is split pretty evenly.

If this is true my predictions are (unbiased yet still based off of opinion if that makes sense):

GC: Elkhorn Excel
1RU: Titanium
2RU: WIG
3RU: Infinity
4RU: Blackout
5RU: Uptown/Illumination (MN)

If not:
GC: WIG
1RU: Excel
2RU: Blackout
3RU: Titanium
4RU: Infinity
5RU: Illumination (MN)/Uptown

Of course it's not up to me and judges preference plays a very large role, but this is what I think each group should land strictly based on talent!

How are finals spots determined?

I believe that any group can qualify for Finals! The groups proceeding into Fanals will be determined by highest points! I will respond again if this is wrong or something changes!

It is not up for me to say exactly, because I do not have all the details! All I know and can say is that they are not competing.
