Congratulations to everyone who participated in Viterbo 101! We had a great time having everyone with us. There were many amazing shows, and it was incredible to see how well prepared they all were this early in the season. A special thanks and congratulations to our finalsts - you made the evening quite a show! I hope you all had a good time at Viterbo and hopefully we will see many of you next year! Best of luck to you all in the upcoming season! Thanks for a wonderful day and competition!

Haha... well the competition was pretty amazing. the venue was awesome and all the show choirs that showed up each deserved their own shots at the GC. It all came down to who wanted it more, and as it shows, us at Xhil must have wanted it a lot.

Big props to Kennedy on there show. I though it was amazing, and i loved the ballad. Best one by far that i have seen.

Linn-Mar. We had one helluva fight for the GC. You guys at 10th Street Edition did amazing and i give you just as much credit as i give to everyone else.

Everyone else that i left out, great job. I liked all the ones i saw. Hope we can see you guys in future competitions this year!

In that first part i wrote, i wasnt trying to say that we wanted it the most. Xhil as a group all put out a 200% increase in effort and determaination over all. All you other groups most likely did the very same. I give all of you props. I think everyone truly deserved an award last night.

Again, nice job everyone. Great performances.

TOTAL (600 possible):

3) CR Kennedy Happiness Inc.: 506.5
4) Milton: 493.5
5) La Crosse Logan: 459.0
6) CR Kennedy Protege: 445.5

I didn't get to see very many groups, but was very impressed with what I did see. Out of the finalists, I watched Protege & 10th Street Edition in the day round, and Happiness Inc. at night.

Protege's cleanliness was sooo impressive - ridiculous for a prep group in January! Definitely deserved their bid in finals. Linn-Mar's band is of course amazing - especially on "Shake Me Like a Monkey" - and some of the performers in 10th Street are the best you can find (I'm referring to you Shrad!) Happiness' ballad blew me away. Absolutely fantastic. I was also a big fan of the opener. The show has so much potential and I can't wait to see it later in the year.

A very well run competition all around - 30 minute time slots for performing groups is DEFINITELY the way to go - and the facilities were fantastic. The mic sound was a little off but everything else was excellent. Congratulations to all groups and thanks to the Viterbo students and staff for starting the season on such a great note!

I really want juliofrommississippi's thoughts on Xavier's ability to dance Jarad's choreography now....

Jay probably won't be able to make any thoughts on your group's ability to perform Jarad's choreography until he sees it. His earlier comments were generalized from Xavier's past shows and were not by any means meant to be wholly correct.

Congratulations on the victory. Way to bring another GC to 42nd Street!

My completely pointless predictions:

GC: Xavier "Xhilaration" - loved their show last year. I really like their program and I see them as being great this year, but who knows yet.

1RU: Linn-Mar "10th Street Edition" - always enjoyed watching 10th St.

2RU: ATSC - I don't know anything about these guys other than their pretty good.

3RU: CR Kennedy "Happiness, Inc." - Just a gut feeling on this one.

4RU: Milton - Seen them at Viterbo the past few years when we were there. Don't remember much.

5RU: La Crosse Logan - Seen them multiple times the past 2 years. Enjoyed their shows a lot!

BV: Xavier - C'mon now...Xavier's vocals can be put up against anyone IMO.

BC: Linn-Mar - Just giving this to them because I don't think it'll be a clean sweep. These could swap between the two schools.

Holy crap. I almost predicted the competition spot on. Congrats to Xavier on their sweep! And good luck to everyone the rest of the year!

Congrats to Xavier for coming out on top in a great field and props to Protege for making finals.
Anybody with a program know Holmen's choreographer and judges for the event?

Xavier was ahead of Linn-Mar by 13 and Kennedy by 29

It's also pretty interesting because Xavier is doing our ballad, as their opener

Congratulations to all groups that participated! I was able to enjoy many groups during the day, and wasw very impressed with the quality of shows for this early in the season. I would also like to thank our room hosts. I appreciated you helping to find away to get me into the auditorium around the long line after In Step did their warm up in the morning. I dont know if I would have been able to get down to the rest of the group with out ur help. In Step, you guys have come so far and you have so much talent and drive within this group I hope that you continue to grow and develop your show into all that we know it has the potential to be.

Kennedy's ballad was amazing, early candidate for best ballad of 2010.

Certainly challenging literature for them. In fact, all of their arrangements were really challenging.

I wish they had executed it a little better, but, I appreciate what the Mr. Ziegler is doing in providing a challenge and OPPORTUNITY for the kids. That's what I always like about Happiness Inc. - they don't do easy for the sake of winning, there is real educational value in everything they do. And that, to me, is the most important part. I'm sure as the season progresses everything will lock into place a little more and will be top notch. Don't get me wrong, Kennedy had a great show - and it can only get better from here!
