This may be sort of controversial, but I feel like last year at Linn-Mar, IC High really benefitted from judges splitting between Hastings and Ankeny Centennial. City High was VERY solid, and had most of the 2nd place rankings, but I don't think they had any 1st rankings (but maybe 1). Judges couldn't decide between Hastings and Ankeny Centennial, and that hurt both of those two. That is just what I remember from analyzing scores last year.
I'm not really sure what to expect from Totino, but I feel like Linn-Mar tends to favor Damon Brown choreography (look at all the past winners from Urbandale, City High, Kennedy, etc) so I give the edge to those two groups. Totino ALWAYS has the potential to be GC material, so it will be exciting to see what they bring!
Predictions, just based off of this last weekend at Prairie.
GC: Kennedy (BV, BC)
1RU: City High (BB)
2RU: Totino
3RU: Papillion
4RU: Prairie prep
5RU: Kennedy prep
This could be a really interesting competition, last year City High came out and won a tough competition. Also, Totino could have a great show this year, I don't really know what to expect from them. Prairie's prep was really good this weekend, maybe they can sneak ahead of Papillion. I can't wait to watch everyone this weekend, good luck!
Got bored, so I'll take a stab at some predictions
GC: City High
1RU: Totino-Grace
2RU: Happiness
3RU: Papillion-Vista
4RU: Protege
5RU: Whoever takes second in prep, based on how last year went, it could be a number of these preps.
This is all based on either last year, or what I've heard from people. Can't wait to attend and watch Xub!
WHat happened to Wheaton Warrenville? Weren't they originally scheduled to compete here?
They are now attending Mt. Zion which is the same day. Could have been any number of reasons... director change, distance of travel, Otis Spunkmeyer cookie stock... anything really.
Prairie's prep beat Xuberance at Waukee last year, but Xubes won the matchup handily at Kennedy at the end of the year. Will be VERY interesting to see which of them gets the last finals spot! Or maybe even Papio prep could surprise?!
