Actually who are the judges?

Marty DeMott
Damon Brown
Anne Chapman
Pete Eklund
Eric VanCleave
Linda McEachran
Andrew Drinkall

The only one those who actively goes on their account is Damon, and I HIGHLY doubt that he'd go on here during the middle of a competition

I also agree that Counterpoints put in a great prelims performance. That being said, both Burroughs girls and WW stepped it up bigtime in the finals so far. Powerhouse had a rocky early start and there were huge sound problems - the solo mics weren't on for two of the singers - so I know their evening show will be light years ahead of their prelims performance. Findlay is on right now; I honestly can't make a prediction after seeing how much the first two groups stepped it up. The level of competition here is extremely fierce.

In terms of how the time schedule is going at the competition, I just got a text saying that Findlay is on (either now or will be shortly).

I think it's great because it gives the groups an understanding of how they stack up against the rest of the field, and it can push them to perform even harder. It also gives them a chance to get written comments from judges, so that they know what to improve on in that short amount of time

The ability to take comments from the judges and make changes has always been important to Counterpoints. I've heard that at ISSMA the Counterpoints improved something like 12 points. Ended up 7 points ahead of everyone else after having only a slim lead going into finals... I've talked to Counterpoints after prelims that have said they had a whole lot more to let loose in finals.

So yeah, there's my prediction... (Heavily influenced by my bias towards Counterpoints, but I hope based on a little bit of fact )

Anyone brave enough to throw in predictions?

I really think Powerhouse performing at around 930 am our time in prelims had to affect them. Something just tells me they're going to blow the roof off that place in finals. What an Amazing competition to be at!

Do they add additional judges for finals (they do this at the Southern California Show Choir Invitationals 3 judge prelims & 2 new ones join to help judge finals) or is it the same judges for both prelims & finals?

Well I'm a judge at this competition and I'm online. Looks like I'm gonna have to work a little harder to give WW the win!!

Actually who are the judges?

This is interesting to know, but they really should not give prelim score or placement information to anybody, not directors, not judges, and certainly not audience members. If the judges have this info it could certainly influence them in the finals.

True, but the audience and directors are hopefully separated from the judges. So, as long as they don't tell the judges, and as long as the judges aren't online... they won't see the results.

Judges usually don't get the scores, however most competitions give out day round scores to directors. I think it's great because it gives the groups an understanding of how they stack up against the rest of the field, and it can push them to perform even harder. It also gives them a chance to get written comments from judges, so that they know what to improve on in that short amount of time
