I think EVERYONE is forgetting that we are kids and we weren't born perfect and will never be perfect! To judge people is to open yourself up for judgement on anything you have done. Just a friendly reminder.

I would also like to say... be thankful your schools still have choir programs. The Carlsbad School district has it planned as of now that the choir department will be completely cut along with all other arts programs. So ya.. just puts thing in perspective. While I am a graduating senior I feel ad for all the kids that might not get to experience show choir and meet all you cool people!

I have a question, how is it ranked 50/50??? I thought is was but im not sure!
Anyone know???

there were five judges, and from what i was told it was two and two for burbank and burroughs and one judge had the two tied, it went to raw scores, still tied, so then music...lol. yeesh, let's make it a little closer huh? haha

awww. mr. caroll lol. want some of mine, i promise i have plenty hence the hours it does to pin it all up for our set ;)

I laughed.. only because I enjoy humor as twisted as this...

/slap

Life is too good (and too short) to be all bent out of shape over something as little as this... (short and little referring to time and significance as opposed to me being vertically challenged)

Too many unhappy people in this world look for excuses to say NEGATIVE things to make them feel better...(Just look at some of the unwarranted posts) I try to stay away from these types, and you should too!

I have heard (and now seen) that several people have accused me of "rigging" the competition...

Do you actually believe I have the fricken time to fix a competition with ALL the things I NEED to do in order to make this work??? Judges, Lighting, Sound, Hosts, The Venue, Parents, Union stage hands, Seating arrangements, tickets, programs, schedule - - 2 theaters actually, scoring sheets, recorders.... OMG.. I can go on...

You think too much of me if you think I am that good in rigging the competition so that I can choose the winners... (advice... careful what you say in your myspace posts... my students know your friends, and next thing you know, the whole world knows how unhappy you are...)

As for "Africa", we did it for fun and in honor of the 2007 GC... also to make Brett sing on stage, which was forced on him so suddenly! Thanks Brett for being a sport and singing with Chula! Unfortunately, those "unhappy" people, again... like to say bad things about our rendition of Africa.... sigh... We did it for FUN people! Not to win any awards, of which we are NOT eligible anyway, cause it is OUR competition...

In the words of Bobby McFerrin

"Don't Worry... Be Happy"

TA

Mr. A
you are fantastic.
and although i believe your jedi masterness allows you to do anything you want to ;) haha
i think the people that matter all know how fantastic you are, and wouldn't make asanine accusations like that. haha

p.s. i stilll feel so bad so bad for bringing marcos and adrian to the bus so late after burbank blast, i know so much later, but i'm always a little scared of you...hahaha

hahahahhaha. noelll. lol
i agree with the nomination, with the correct title of course.

i cut the quote cause it's pretty much everything you posted

umm....thankfully i was out of town immediatly following chula (two hours of sleep at the airport, not fun haha)
but because i was gone i wasn't tempted to post any innappropriate responses that i normally try so hard not to make...it would have been hard.
but time has allowed me maturity ;)
hehe, i only feel sad you're associating yourself with insync since they are a group of fantastic people that i love, and you're...no comment!
i'm so sorry if my post is perpetuating anything that should have been put to rest, i just felt like pointing out no one should associate an immature instigater like this with the people that were actually involved in the situation...

and...
yay excited for bhs pop show.

4 words:
Burroughs Powerhouse's ENTIRE set.

It was amazing, the best show choir set I have EVER seen. Like I said the whole set, I think, should be in there because it is very worthy.

I love this account. Clinton is truly the definition of show choir class. Thanks for sharing "simple choir parent"!

Clinton is the DEFINITION of class & respect.
For them to have enough strength to congratulate their opponents in such a sincere manner completely blows my mind.
They are amazing people.
"D
I think we should all follow the gracious example that Attache sets and be respectful at competitions.
Is it really that hard to congratulate your opponents on a job well done???
[To answer my own question, no, it's not.]

I personally am accepting the apologies made by the Burbank choir kids. I know some other Powerhouse members have too. Just give the rest of them a little time to cool off. I have a feeling that in the very near future, Saturday we be a distant memory.

This is going to be one massive post.
I -may- have gone a little overboard on the quotes.
Ahaha.

EDIT;
Apparently there's a rule against this.
Fixing now.
And I just realized I put a smiley or a heart with almost every reply.

To katie from Los Al;
Ahhh, thank you soo much for the song name!
[But I'm pretty sure I'll like your version better. Tough to beat those beautiful chords.]

Thank you Mr. Atienza I agree completely. Both Burroughs and Burbank are incredible show choir programs, and for them to end in a tie is remarkable.

Just take a look at my profile picture...

That's the 2006 Burbank and Burroughs VMA President/VP's posed together in a battle over the same trophy (I'm the Burroughs Prez in the emerald green dress and shorter dark brown hair. ) And yet--I've performed on the same stage as both Burbank people in the picture since--well Jeff and I have been playing handbells and sang in church choir since the 4th grade! We've done Show Camp together in the summers, and we all went to the same voice teacher.

In the end, were we go to High School is dictated by geography--but we managed to still be performers and friends together despite it. Granted...I'll go to my grave saying WE were better, but how could I not? Hahaha. I've been following this thread because I couldn't make it to any competitions this year (man...it's scary when you're suddenly growing up and doing all of your own things!) but I'm glad to see that for the most part everyone had a great time. I have so much respect for both of the director's at our high schools (Brett's been wonderful and played for me in solo competitions several times on the fly--what a great guy!) and of course, Brendan has taken the JBHS VMA and soared to epic levels. Beating ATTACHE?! God...I won't lie, I was insanely envious..considering I was in the Branson FAME where we came oh-so-close.

But...for the students, especially those graduating--you're going to get your own wings now and leave that comfy show-choir laden nest and go out and find your true callings. For some...that even brings you right back! But enjoy these last few weeks of the school year, and for those keeping the art alive next year, bring your absolute best! It only gets more heated and tight every year as each program improves.
