(Also in our program annually are the year results for all the competitions in Southern California as well as all the past Grand Champions since 1995, with the directors names next to the GC)
Not true... people WILL remember the results from competitions with the help from your program.

I am almost recovered from those 2 days and want to leave you with this...
Show Choir is "art" and therefore subjective. Results vary from competition to competition... from state to state. Of course we all want to win, but realize that after all... it is show choir. No one will remember what place you got 4-5 years from now... BUT... They will remember your show and performance.
The Hall Of Fame is dedicated to show choir songs that made us ALL say "WOW!" and will be printed on every So Cal program from here on out. (Also in our program annually are the year results for all the competitions in Southern California as well as all the past Grand Champions since 1995, with the directors names next to the GC) I like to use this page as a vehicle to ask for nominations before we at Chula Vista select our HoF inductees for 2009.

- you say this but then before you said this "powerhouse seems more in tune and blended. One thing you must not mistake for "good vocals"is "loud vocals". Burbank is very loud, and many people mistake loud for good." Which if you ask me, sounds pretty insulting and for certain kids could be degrading.

-you say this but before you said this "If creativity and artistry were valued as much as they should be at SoCal, the placement would've been quite different."...meaning that Burbank was not creative enough to win at SoCal in your eyes.

- You say this but you can go ahead and backtrack a few pages and find that i started out complimenting both choirs saying that they were awesome! And out of no where you decided to begin this little debate. And you harbor no negative intentions towards Burbank? Really? Because i remember you saying this not too long ago "insulting? Like parading a decapitated tigger insulting?"...sounds to me like you harbor some negative aggression towards certain members of Burbank even to this day.

- Alright maybe you didn't say it outright but you did lead a horse to water, so the speak, when you said this "How different judges see the Burroughs set is their business. I care more about what the audience saw than what the judges think they saw. Burroughs has consistently won or lost previous competitions based on their performances for quite a long time. I only hope that Burroughs' loss or tie at SoCal for the 4th year in a row will raise a red flag or two."
This is where I draw the line. I have never, EVER, *EVER* called you a name or personally attacked you. I may have attacked what you said, but I never attacked YOU. In addition to this being blatantly dishonest, you can be quoted saying "I hope your director bans you from this site," and "you are a bad example". That, my friend, is a personal attack. Like I said, I'm normally not a very "passionate" person, however you cannot blame me for standing up in defense of my choir and my character when you hurdle such vile attacks.

Fair enough. I wasn't responding to you, but multiple posters who referred to me as a "frustrated ranter" for defending my own choir.

Oh here we go again. Putting words in my mouth and personally attacking me are prime examples of vicious attacks and cowardly debating tactics. As if personal attacks weren't enough, you then proceed to attack our parents. What am I supposed to do? I honestly don't want to bicker with you. What's done is done, and even though I may have gotten a little heated in my debate (which I apologized for), I stand by what I said. Burbank and Burroughs are both different, but excellent choirs, with different songs and different styles.
I normally am not very passionate about show choir, however when I am being personally assaulted in front of the people who I consider my friends, you bet I am going to get "passionate". I know it is a very bad idea for me to be responding to you, however some of your comments are becoming out of control, and both my ego and my moral compass cannot and will not stand by while things like this are being said.

At least we can agree on something. I am OK to "peacefully coexist" with you, if that is your wish. However, don't EVER misrepresent me in an attempt to tarnish my reputation. I will tolerate a lot of things, dishonesty is not one of them.
Opener deals with isolation, loneliness, darkness and sense of loss. The idea of being forced down by the gravity of life and feeling despair.
Song two moves to questioning/pleading/reaching out for help. It has some religious overtones to God. The idea that sometimes only in our darkest moments do we reach out for help and plead for someone to help us find meaning/resolution/peace/hope.
Ballad is a moment of epiphany. Am I dying to live or am I living to die? It's the moment in the show where we hope to change from despair to hope, from hurt to the possibility of healing. From isolation to the idea that someone might be there to make the journey with us and be there.
Costume change into number four represents purification, and the song becomes resolute in its feeling that agents of change are in the air. "Something's coming, I don't know what it is, but it is gonna be great", combined with the idea of Lose Yourself, "You've only got one shot. Do not miss your chance to glow, cause opportunity comes once in a lifetime". It's a passageway song to the wonderful potential of life.
Closer happens in 3 thoughts "Heal the World" "Save the World", and "Change the World". It goes from the potential for self-fulfillment, and moves to the greater possibility of impacting the world for others in a positive way. The last part becomes less of a thought than a mission statement, "we are here to change the world".
That's a real basic description of the idea that Mr. Carroll sought to convey. A LOT of shows have a GREAT MANY positive things to say, whether it's a message show, or simply a show that aims to entertain and take audiences on an imaginative or fun journey. That's just kind of what In Sync's show was aiming for. I have to say once again that I think Burroughs show was SPECTACULARLY conceived and executed, and I feel really fortunate to have been able to witness it live 3 times this year. Brendan, Jen, Dan, Scott, Marie, and anybody whom I've left out put together an inspiring piece of artwork. From them to the great parent support to the fantastic portrayal by the students, it was magical. God Bless, Damon Brown
I let it slide for awhile, but this is starting to become irritating. I'm becoming weary of people labeling me "frustrated" or a "ranter", especially without reading the whole story.
I long for the days when an intelligent show choir discussion can be had without being threatened or viciously attacked by someone most likely associated with Burbank hiding behind a false identity, and being called a ranter or "frustrated member" by various members, including one from my own choir (which I find disappointing).
On a lighter note, does anyone have a video of Rancho? I'm hearing many wonderful things about them, however I missed their performance due to me having to change.

I have a question. What is Burbank's show about? Because the costumes in the beginning and the songs are dark and then the end it is all light. If someone has already asked this I am sorry!
