Is it common for Nebraska competitions to give captions after the day round? In my experience, the most captions they'll give out before finals are the soloist awards and maybe best band as well. I've never seen BV or BC given out after prelims before and we were curious if that is common.

I can't think of another Nebraska competition that does that off the top of my head.

Your combo did a great job for only having four members (I think it was 4?)

We have 3, 4 if you count the director (who had food poisoning and wasn't there Saturday night). It had been my goal since Freshman year to win best band, but thought it'd be impossible to do so without the help of wind instruments. It was a great feeling when they announced the instrumental caption!

By the way, does anyone know what the tie breaking procedure was for caption awards? I'm very curious how they decided whether Xavier or Titanium got the instrumental trophy.

Thanks a lot you guys were very classy as well. You better believe we were upset about not seeing your show. I don't believe that captions during the daytime is normal, except for viking cup and a few other competitions. If we were to lose to someone I'm glad it was a successful and respectful group such as Xavier. Thanks and Congrats!

First of all, a huge WOW to Papillion-La Vista South. I only saw your daytime show but it was absolutely fantastic. Your vocals were wonderful and your choreography was crisp and clean throughout. Your combo did a great job for only having four members (I think it was 4?) When you swept the captions after the day round, I knew we were going to have to step it up if we wanted any sort of chance at a GC. But most importantly your group are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I was the one sitting in the balcony and giving you high-fives when you came up after your day show for awards. What a classy group! I wish you would find a way to make it over to eastern Iowa at some point because I really think you would stack up well against a lot of choirs.

It was a good way to end the season and, contrary to what seemed to be popular opinion (at least on these message boards), it was against extremely stiff competition! Thanks to everyone from North H.S. for hosting. I am waiting to see the finals score sheet... does anyone have it?

Congrats Xavier. Thanks for such a great competition! I hope we get a second shot at you next year. I'm still really dissapointed we didn't get to see your show. Congrats again though Xavier you earned it!

I believe this is the second year in a row that the captions have all gone to the eventual 1st-runner up. It's just weird to see.

Congrats everyone.

Viking Cup was awesome yesterday. During prelims, Xavier was only 1.34 points behind Titanium. Now that was scary! While it's never fun moving down in finals, i heard from everyone that Xhilaration was incredible. I'm only dissappointed that Titanium never had the chance to see the show. Good job Xavier! Glad you could end the season on a high note.

I have no idea when this will show up since my sis just got me to register but I've just gotta write this so here it goes.

This competition was amazing! Being a year removed from winning this competition last year, it was so fun to come back and watch all the great choirs. It really was one of the best crowds I've ever seen at a show choir competition.

First congrats to Xavier. Great show and whoever the girl with the "Let it Be" solo is made the 15 or so of us alumni melt right in our chairs. She is amazing! Glad to see the competition level rise at the Viking Cup and when it came down to it i totally see how you guys won.

But of course Titanium was amazing. The madness that happened with the sweep of the caption awards had us all in disbelief! Its so great to see the style at South validated and to know that they can compete with the larger, more modern style show choirs. Enjoy this one Titanium...you may not have won the cup but you gained loads of respect and recognition.

I did get a text today saying Papio South swept BV, BC, and BB during DAYTIME results.
Unless I read it wrong. So don't quote me.

woo a headliner on here! papio LOVES you guys! (ive been to butler show choir showcase twice :])

do we have any predictions for saturdays finals?

i would put some predictions up but i just have no clue about some of the groups. its really up in the air. i know xavier, pls, nevada, and GISH will make it, thats four.. i have no idea about the last two.

Yeah, I started my account on scc when I was a junior in high school, and have been on it ever since. It keeps me in the loop.

Headliners love you guys as well, you guys were such great hosts to us last year and love seeing you guys at camp too. I was a counselor the circus year.

I heard from a Nevadaian that Nevada, Gish, xavier, papio south, and gorman made finals. Good luck everyone!!

Finals predictions: (in no order- I don't know the Omaha schools neeearly well enough)
Nevada "Soundsational Singers" (A)
Cedar Rapids Xavier "Xhilaration" (A) [Sweep!]
Lincoln East "Express" (AA)
Omaha Northwest "Pure Crimson and Gold" (AA)
Grand Island "Ultimate Image" (AA)
Papillion-La Vista South "Titanium" (AA)

I think it's quite safe to put money on a Xavier sweep. Their ballad alone will clinch it. I may be making a trip to Omaha just to see it. [:
