I was really pumped for these snow days up until i realized that left all of these amazing choirs with pretty much NO rehearsal time before this weekend. Not only do i want cosby's choirs to be practiced, ready, and amazing but i want everyone to be at their best and these snow days are kind of preventing that :/
Good luck to everyone this weekend tho
it seems we're all at the same disadvantage

Well this is my post here and let me start by congratulating (M)PULSE!!!!! I'm so very excited to see your show Saturday. I'm an adjudicator and the choreographer for Kecoughtans Harbor Lights and A Touch of Jade. Like everyone else we have been working hard and are very nervous about our debut!!

As far as sleep goes...WHAT"S THAT!!!!!

Ugh...I'm way angry....this was going to be the perfect week to prepare!!!

We are on alternating block schedule, but this is a week where I would have seen my show choir Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Also, we have our typical afterschool rehearsal on Monday.

Scratch that.

Because of the two hour delay today, I got to see them for 40 minutes!!! We don't even have enough time to watch the DVD from Powhatan!! I'll see them for regular class on Thursday, and the drama teacher and show choir students are amazing...everyone rearranged their schedules so we could have a Thursday afternoon rehearsal. We only made minor changes, and are just cleaning up and punching up a few things...so everything should fly right for Manchester.

But this snow can go to ^&($^&(*&$^#(*^

(sighs. Smiles)

Good luck to everyone at Manchester!!!!!

Ok so i take back the snow comment!!
Not GREAT!

With Wednesday off as well- how will everyone fare??

At least it will be nice to have 70 degree weather on Saturday!
Gotta love Richmond weather.

I worked with the Central Virginia Show Choir Invitational for the past 6 years-know the history of the 13 before that and honestly believe this is the best set of choirs it has ever seen.

Finally a worthy competition gets worthy choirs in a worthy state!!

If you have never been to comp in Virginia-and you have the weekend free- this would be the one to make a trip for. And then again in April to The River City Invitational-ha.

Hosted by the hands down most winniest and recognized choirs in Virginia, Capital Swing and Touch of Swing, at a wonderful facility in an amazing town, wonderfully designed for a truly unique experience by the faculty, staff and parents of Manchester High School. Thank You.

The level of growth in choirs was at an all time high last year and I have heard some great things about choirs at the Pow/JR Classic this past weekend.

I personally cannot wait and on behalf of Clover Hill HS- we are so excited to return once again to the CVSCI and look forward to THIS weekend as usual. It is only 2 miles away-haha

HAPPY 20TH ANNIVERSARAY CVSCI!

ps.- Its snowing and GREAT! everyone deserves the day off tomorrow...
pss- sorry for any errors in spelling etc- just returned from a 10 hour trip from Ohio-where it wasnt snowing....Wasnt it like 65 degrees here on Friday when we left??

Well, I know I'm definitely nervous.

We sort of trade off with ARGS...we beat them, they beat us...

WE have only competed against Kecoughtan once, and that round went to them. They have a very strong sound.

The director at Poquoson told me he feels good about his show.

Only competed against Monocan once, and they won.

I know we've competed against Colonial Forge before, but I can't recall how that went. One of the weekends where there we A LOT of B Mixed choirs.

We're going to work very hard. It's all we can do.

Good luck to EVERYONE!!

2nd RU: Martinsburg "Good Times" (Best Choreography)
3rd RU: James River "Current Edition"

In our neighboring city, they're on 4x4, and it just really stifles (sp) the growth of the program. I just can't see how you would keep things going with competitions and MENC/VMEA events all through out the year. It might be better for other subjects, but not for choir.

Well that's the first time I've really heard that one...

Ryan...I definitely want to come see it...are you sure it's the same weekend as Kecoughtan?? I could totally come.

Yes, 4x4 means no year round classes, and is generally recognized as the death of choral (and band) programs. If Menchville ever goes to 4x4 (and they are piloting 4x4 classes here), I will be looking for a new job TOMORROW.

4 classes in the fall semester, 4 in the spring. You can only have show choir one semester a year.

Come for FAME NYC babe and sty with me, make a little NYC trip out of it! But I think Hampton might be the same weekend?
And yes, it killed all of North Carolina's music departments, South Carolina on the other hand im not sure about. Broughton has a show choir again, but nothing like they use to be.

Is it true that 4x4 scheduling killed the Carolina show choir? Ryguy, did you tell me that or am I making things up?

I would love to catch a FAME comp...

Does Greece Athena still compete?

Yea, they'll be at FAME NYC this year. They are... different.

...Meaning locally, sorry? Aha. I don't know many kids from Chesterfield schools who were willing to drive out to WV to preview the show.
