It was chaotic at the West Jones competition this weekend. They did the best they could with not having their own place to host, but it was frustrating. The West Jones group was really nice, and the hosts did a great job in making everyone feel welcome. I do have one problem: I understand one of the judges was once the director of South Jones. It doesn't seem right to have someone judge when they have a particular interest in a competing group. You don't have to agree. It's just the way I feel about it. I'm not saying SJ would not have won otherwise, although Pascagoula did kick butt. I'm just saying that person should not have been asked to judge.

well from what i understood, that person was not a group judge but a solo judge....

I would like to thank all of the groups that came for putting on some great shows... I really enjoyed hosting South Jones Middle School, and Pisgah Middle School people were so generous... On Saturday, KUDOS to all the groups who performed... Pascagoula, yall were spectacular, and such an easy group to work with, so thank you for your cooperation... South and NE Jones put on great, entertaining shows... "Imagination" did great in the exhibition... I don't mean to be biased, but I thought we ran this competition well for our first time ever... I want to thank all the staff who played a role in this... As for those wondering who from West Jones made All-State, here they are:

Ben Ekes (Front and center guy and soloist in "I'd Die For You")
Precious Alredge (Soloist in "Got to Be Real)
Stephen Brezeale (Did not perform Saturday because of sickness)
Kathleen Graham (The taller soloist in "You Are My Heart")

Great job to everyone this weekend! And I have to agree with what people have already said ... the West Jones people were great! I loved our hosts. They were so sweet and kind to us. Everyone around the entire campus was just as nice as they could be! Thanks to ALL of the West Jones people for being so nice and making us feel welcome where ever we were during the day!

Great job to West Jones "Imagination" in the Exhibition. You all did a FANTASTIC job! I really enjoyed watching your show!

I can't wait until next year to see West Jones and to go back to the West Jones competition to see such nice people!

I thought that the competition was very well run and that yes there may have been a few chaotic moments; but my gosh this is the first year and they do have to play be WC's rules. Also, compared to one competition that I went to this year with my group...and I will not say names...this was like Heaven. So cut the West Jones people some slack they worked hard and were very nice to everyone that I noticed.

west jones made an awesome competition. i honestly think we had the best hosts. besides that, good competition. i agree though with what was said above, considering i didn't know that at the time of the competition, but it might explain some. i hate people who are biased, not saying SJ didn't do an awesome job, but still ALL the captions? dang. props to yall. we loved the exhibition. we look forward to next year, hopefully finals will prove that though.

Congrats to all the groups last night. It was a great competition. West Jones gets KUDOS for a very well organized competition. For their first comp. it was well organized needs some tweeks but overall good.

I was beyond impressed with the parents and students helping with everyone's props/set out back. While we DO have a large crew to grab everything, the parents and students took things out of our hands just so we didn't have to carry as much. Thank you SO much to all the parents and students of west jones high school, and Mr. Mizell for such a GREAT competition.

I agree, I had a wedding to go to so i did not get to compete in prelims and i made it to the College in just enough time to hear my show choir start...but i missed it by a hair getting in to see them! So i was listening at a side door and the parents let me go back stage to watch my group, that was so nice and they all were extremely helpful when i got there and made it easy to get my stamp without asking a lot of questions! Also, everything was done with a smile and our host were great! I could keep going but i think i got the point across good job West Jones and i hope y'all continue on with a competition because i am going to Southern and that would be a easy comp to come see!
