Findlay was excellent. Insanely clean choreo and sang wonderfully.

So is finals performances the same order as their prelim placements? My guess is that it is but I could be wrong lol

From the SCN rulebook:

Mixed Division Finals will be held Saturday morning. Scores from prelims, with lowest score performing first to highest score performing last, will determine performance order for the finals. Scoring for finals is by the Consensus Ranking System.

Wow - congrats to the Ohio groups on an insanely strong showing today! Also major props to Glenwood for making finals, that last finals spot had to have been an absolute bloodbath and making finals at a contest this intense is an achievement in itself!

Predictions

GC: Los Alamitos “Sound FX” (BC, BV)
1RU: Ankeny Centennial “Spectrum” (BB)
2RU: Loveland “By Request
3RU: Glenwood “Titan Fever
4RU: Petal “Sound Sensations
5RU: Findlay “First Edition

6RU: Decatur “Elite Energy
7RU: Auburn “Varsity Singers
8RU: Peoria “Soundwave

For a while, I thought Ankeny could give Los Al a run for their money, but this being Los Al’s second year with their show, and being Los Al, I’m confident they’ll defend their title at Nationals. I hesitated to give them vocals over Ankeny but after hearing their ballad at their home competition, I think that was enough for me to think they’ll sweep. I think Loveland has a strong show and will secure that 2RU spot, but after that, I think it’s very possible that any group could place anywhere. I’m excited to see the outcome!

I have mixed feelings about Los Al doing the same show they did in 2020 (granted, I don't know all the details about this). Part of me is fine with it because they only got to compete once in 2020 before COVID hit, so I'm sure the show didn't reach its full potential. On the other hand, it seems unfair to have SO much time between 2020 and now to perfect things in that show and to compete against shows that have been created/worked on in such a shorter amount of time.. idk, just something to think about.

In a different sense, they also had to likely change soloists, blocking, etc as group turnover occurred. Daniel Hand also reused their 2021 set this year.

True.. I honestly don't care what show they do or how long they've been working on it, I'm just glad everyone is back to performing at live events and I'm super excited to see how Los Al does this weekend. And I neeeeed someone to get a video of them (and Clinton)!!

Exactly. We had no money to get a new show cause of Covid…75% of the group was new…and we added 2 new songs. It was like starting all over again

Did Soundtrax reuse their set as well? Insanely impressive stuff tonight from them.

Pretty much. There was definitely a feeling of unfinished business from 2020 and the heartbreak of only being able to perform these sets once, as well as the feeling that they never reached their full potential. But I will say that both groups have turned over more than half their rosters, and the soloists are completely different for both.

Not unfair. Any other choir could have done the same.

No, there is not a live stream of the performances.

Also, while it's not the same as a live stream, the Show Choir Nationals social media pages are posting cool behind-the-scenes moments and snippets of each choir's performance. It's worth checking out.
