Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Cate Gasco earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with a concentration in classical and jazz vocals from Duquesne University. She has extensive vocal music experience, including choral singing throughout college with the Duquesne University Voices of Spirit, soloing with larger ensembles for works such as Handel's Messiah and performing original works throughout Pennsylvania. She is an avid singer/songwriter and has recorded multiple albums as both a soloist and session musician. She also has a long history with musical theater, ranging from her days acting onstage to past experience as a musical vocal coach. The 2016-2017 school year will be Cate's 5th as a choir director and music theory instructor at James Bowie High School. Under her direction, the Bowie choirs have consistently earned superior ratings at contest and have been invited to perform at countless community, state, and international events. She is a member of TMEA, TCDA, ACDA, Mu Phi Epsilon, and Pi Kappa Lambda. Outside of school, she enjoys attempting to cook, reading, volleyball, outdoor excursions, and spending time with her husband, John, and their "zoo", Annie, Calvin, and Pip.
