Prior to his appointment at Gustavus, Dr. Dean completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. From 2003-2008, he served as the Director of Choral Activities at Ankeny High School and was the director of Visual Adrenaline. Under his leadership, Visual Adrenaline became recognized as one of the premiere show choirs in the country and the ensemble was named Grand Champions at 14 consecutive competitions around the Midwest, earning numerous caption awards for Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Band, and Best Show Design.
