Viterbo 101 is like that, along with Fame Chicago

Great River, Show Choir Nationals, likely Grand River also.

Do any of you go to any other competitions like this where it is mainly just the stage or is this one unique with everything else being high schools? (I've never been to any of the national competitions at big places so those may be similar). Which do you prefer?

I'll be there to watch Big Red Singers and finals, good luck to all!

I tend to prefer to watch a competition in a big separate auditorium. However, I always liked to compete in a gym more. It was just a different, but in my opinion, better, atmosphere.

I'm pretty pumped to see my first competition of the year at Midwest Cup, but this competition generally is towards the bottom of my list of favorite competitions. UNL and Big Red Singers do a great job don't get me wrong but I just like the high school feel a little bit more I think. Having a cafeteria to go sit in if you're hungry, just sitting in the halls with friends, and having your own actual room to get everything ready in are all big reasons I like the high school feel.

It wouldn't let me edit Millard West "West in the Groove"

Predictions:
GC: Ankeny "Visual Adrenaline"
1RU: Lincoln Southwest "Resonance"
2RU: Cedar Rapids Prairie "The Ambassadors"
3RU: Norris "Gold"
4RU: Iowa City West "Good Time Company"
5RU: Lincoln East "Express" or Ankeny "Perpetual Motion"

BV: Ankeny
BC: Ankeny
BB: Lincoln Southwest

Out on a limb?

GC:Ankeny "Visual Adrenaline"
1RU:Lincoln Southwest "Resonance"
2RU:Cedar Rapids Prairie "The Ambassadors"
3RU:Millard West "West In The Groove"
4RU:Norris "Gold"
5RU:Ankeny "Perpetual Motion"

I agree with the captions. Iowa City West "Good Time Company" could sneak in there.

Millard West used to be a very good choir. I was just talking with David Shocke about when I was a 8th/freshman/soph area, West In The Groove was one of my favorite groups to see and they consistently finished top half of finals. Sad they've taken a step back (lost to both Ankeny and Johnston prep a couple years ago if my memory serves right... Urby or SC East.. too lazy to look up). I expect them to come back eventually, and perhaps this could be the year.

Also, Iowa City West did beat Norris here last year. (Yeah, I did look THAT up. Don't judge me.) I guess it just depends on who comes out of the gate ready to put on a beat down. (Wow, I sound like Taylor Bley here. "Beat down". Is that even a Taylor thing to say? It kinda goes with professional wrestling maybe so I'm gonna go ahead and say that it is. Wow, I need to stop staying up all night. /endrant).

The correct terminology would be "Coming out ready to whoop they ass"

I'd watch out for Millard West this year. They have a stellar show- they will definitely open some eyes!

Ya, Millard West used to be good. I think I was mixing them up with Millard East. Me and my old Nebraska self. And don't worry, I had to look up the IC West/Norris results a couple weeks ago :-P (Taylor would totally say that)

I can totally see you being right! I'm predicting Millard West in that 6th slot. Southwest getting band, Ankeny with vocals and choreo.

Random as heck predictions. Don't hate.

GC. Ankeny
1RU. Lincoln Southwest
2RU. Cedar Rapids Pairie
3RU. Norris
4RU. Iowa City West
5RU. Ankeny Prep/Lincoln East/Millard West... This early in the season, not enough information to really decide.

I only went to Midwest Cup once- my freshman year of college (I went to UNL). It was a lovely winter morning. Really warm actually, I wore flip-flops and no coat. I leave after finals and there's like 2 inches of snow on the ground....... #majorfail

Gotta love Lincoln/Nebraska weather like that. We have literally had more than a couple times this year where the temperature swung 40-50 degrees from one day to the next.

A few questions since Prairie hasn't been here before, is finals timed? And which side of the stage did choirs enter from in the past?

I don't believe so. And Both sides you can walk behind the stage to go to stage Right or Left! It's a really HUGE stage so be prepared to walk a lot! Lol!

Didn't Lincoln East get a time penalty last year? The biggest thing I remember about their show is their amazing soloists. My prediction:

GC: Ankeny
1RU: Lincoln SW
2RU: Norris
3RU: Lincoln East
4RU: IC West
5RU: Prairie

BV: Ankeny
BC: Lincoln SW
BB: Lincoln SW

Being a rather isolated member of Eastern IA Show choir, I guess I don't know a lot about the Lincoln schools... Other than Resonance being amazing last year. One of my favorite things about this competitions is the variety... And after seeing some sets already this year, it's going to be close and defs a great competition.

As far as JV Groups go, Ankeny, Lincoln SW, and IC West have some great Prep groups.
BTW: Iowa City West, "Showtime" is their prep group.
