I usually don't post (and I encourage my students to be careful), but I just have to chuckle...

To all of the "Class of 97, 98, 99's" out there...remember when we were in high school and we had dial-up "Prodigy"-style internet? There was no such thing as a sophisticated "bulletin board"! If we wanted to discuss something, we usually made phone calls and talked in person. We didn't have the fancy mask of the good ol' interweb to protect us!

Let's stay classy, folks! As I try to tell my kiddos, "It's JUST show choir!!"

Peace and love,

I'm "involved" now because it's my site and I'm tired of having to play babysitter to juvenile discussions. 95% of the members on this site seem to be able to conduct themselves in a reasonable manner here - including freshmen in high school - so I don't think it's too big of a stretch to ask you to do the same. I don't pick sides here and I have no allegiance to anyone; I simply want this space to be respected and used for productive and positive show choir discussion. Period. If anyone feels they can not participate here without adhering to this simple request, I kindly ask that you just don't visit. I, too, have other things going on in my life to worry about and the less time I have to take coming in here and tending to these kind of petty issues, the more time I can spend fixing technical issues with the site or expanding the database to make it better. If you want a more quality SCC experience, stop resorting to these childish games. That goes for everyone.

I have stated multiple times that SCC needs to be a place where people can feel comfortable to express their honest opinions about a group - good or bad - as long as it is respectful and helps others to learn. This site would be boring and a waste of time if we weren't allowed to be critical of the art we see; no one is perfect. But there's a huge difference between analyzing a performance or expressing your thoughts about a competition placement and outright slander of each other. The name calling and back-and-forth bickering needs to stop, now. I believe in giving people chances and I truthfully hate having to come by and make posts like this. But if people can't get their act together, I'll just start suspending accounts. I don't have the time or inclination to deal with this. This is a message to everyone: please grow up and think about the content of your post before you hit "add reply." If you have a problem with someone, send them a PM and attempt to deal with it outside of the public realm in a civil manner. If you are having an issue you can't resolve, you are welcome to talk to me. But don't use the community forums - a place where members of all regions, ages, and backgrounds come together to contribute here - to hash things out. You end up giving the site and its reputation a bad name in the process and then you've "involved" me whether you like it or not.

I don't know you at all Scott, but coming from a high schooler, you sound really immature and insecure. Saying that Carmel is the greatest show choir ever is all fine and dandy, because that's your own opinion. However, blatantly insulting someone, their alma mater, their opinions, and their friends, is really low. Also you sound like 12 year old (no offense to twelve year olds on here) when you talk about "Oh I got 9 people to say that they hate Adam too!" You're trying to make yourself sound cool, but all it's doing is making you look like your trying to glorify yourself and really makes you seem like a pompous jerk. I disagree with Adam on some things, but you just seem like the lowest person that I've encountered on here. Thank you and have a nice day

well, i'd leave but i'm waiting for the throngs of Adam's friends to start badmouthing me. So far the only reactions have been the opposite... Maybe things have changed and people finally realize what and who you really are.

There's a bunch of non-competitive choirs out there (mainly performing with Mark Brymer arrangements), but anywho the group is from Erie.

Oh and thanks for the Message rian... LOL It was AMAZING... i haven't been on here in months (since some of us have real things to do, other than pretend show choir is the ultimate in choral performance) and it was CRAZY, i made that post about JORGE and i immediately got 9 messages that night from people saying it made their day...

So, i'll keep spewing forth my bile to this arrogant queen of a tenor until he realizes that his holier than though attitude is only going to land him with a choir full of kids who can't stand their jerk of a teacher enough to even LISTEN to the minutely interesting or intelligent things he occasionally has to say...

I'm pretty sure that my reasoning for praising Carmel is obvious... I would most DEFINITELY call my self "Indiana-centric" Thats probably because Indiana is home to North Central, Carmel, Huntington North, Lawrence Central, Warren Central and other Vocally and technically excellent CHOIRS. Do we have to go through the Indiana/Iowa debate again.

I feel that what a lot of people don't realize when they are watching show choir, is that it is an art, and therefore subjective. The ONLY way to decide who wins a contest of subjective material, is to challenge the technique.

I have heard from quite a few ppl i trust that BG was superior at this contest from the get go.

They took Best Vocals, and Best Choreo.

That is a decided victory based on the point values on the SCORE SHEET.

Somehow, (you said) 9 of 10 of your friends, had Waubonsie valley in first all day. though i've heard, that they started off strong and ended pretty weak... This is a pacing issue and comes from poor show design. A common problem for young choirs. All the flash, none of the experience. It's really not hard to believe though, WV's 2008 show that you RAVED about had the exact same issue. Not to mention pushy tempos and a splatty combo

I'm going to have to guess that 9 out of 10 of you don't understand how technical elements work in show choir. Otherwise you probably wouldn't be so confused by my "random" support of the Carmel Ambassadors.

Oh, and everyone who made finals at FC 2005, said it was the most well run competition they'd ever been to, and by far the nicest venue for a highschool competition. I guess you'd have had to been there for finals to know that the contest ended with awards less than 10 minutes late... FIRST YEAR COMPETITION.

But when you come all that way and get bumped out of finals by Castle Knight Sensations, i'd call it a crappy competition too...

My Main issue shoegazer, is that every other paragraph had "Less impressed" or "Unimpressed" atleast once, maybe twice.

My MAIN problem with YOU Adam, is that you from the day you joined show choir, crowned yourself as the omniscient god of show choir... You post in EVERY section of these forums, EVERY DAY. and not just a couple of lines... Novels worth.

You love to hear yourself talk more than any other person i think i've ever met, and instead of having a decent conversation with someone about what they think, you just run around on this site and all over the country telling people what they SHOULD think.

and COME ON

"LAWSON! Accompanied by the FC Singers"

Really?

The post that said 10 of my friends had WV in first and 9 had BG in 2nd were from predictions from sheets we all filled out the night before seeing any of these shows. It was a game we played that equated with points. It had nothing to do with what we thought of the shows, after we saw them. It was a fun game.

That is all I am going to respond to, because the rest is crap that you have spewed multiple times now over the years. You love making personal attacks and try to tear me down; making it seem that I think I am the best and only my opinions matter. Every single time these arguments occur, you're always proved wrong by the people that actually know me and have met me. I post my opinions and thoughts freely on this website, they are mine, I don't force people to agree. But I never stand for stupidity, and LOVE calling out posters like you who lie and make fake accounts. You are intolerant to anyone else's ideas and thoughts and are known for the hate and lies you generate on this website. I am not known for that.

I'll be blocking you now, Scott. I've tried numerous times to put up with you; but you are unreasonable and just won't ever learn. Talk all the crap you want to about me. You'll find a handful of people who agree... I can give you those names... but those are the people who are just like you... intolerant and foolish. Best of luck to your life and whatever job you have made up you are doing now.

I didn't welcome you back. I said, in your new Carmel topic- "Long time, no see, Scott". That is hardly a welcome back. It simply is the truth, therefore, it was not sarcastic. I'm not sure to why you are acting poorly already, I thought we had stopped having petty squabbles. I don't agree with you, and you don't agree with me... but, I'm didn't attack you in your Carmel topic for it.

"(Franklin Central 2005 and Southmont 2008 being the two others)"

I really can't believe that you can in good conscience write an Omniscient post like that and at the same time state that you haven't ever been to a decent competition in Indiana?

You're so iowacentric

MIC 2003 2004 2005, Indy state 2005 2006, Ben Davis 2004 2005 2006, Pike 2004 2005 2006, Huntington North 2005 2006.

COME ON, Those all had better lineups and more interesting results than this, yet you drove 7 hours to go to dekalb...

Iowacentric? I've traveled to more states in show choir than you. I have not said a word about anything Iowa show choir related in this topic. I don't even compare groups to Iowa schools. If anything, someone could call you "Indiana-centric" or "Carmel-centric"... but has anyone? No.

I haven't been to Indiana a lot. The majority of those years you posted quality Indiana competitions was when I was still in high school, so to travel to them, meant I would need to NOT be in my high school's show choir and would mean that I could afford to travel to them, while balancing all my activities and schoolwork. I live in Iowa, and like to go to WI, IA, MN, IL competitions. Indiana is a stretch. Most Iowa schools have never been to an Indiana school. The only reason we attended Franklin Central, was because I brought in the information about the competition after finding out you were starting one. The reason I chose to attend Dekalb 2009 was pretty much 100% on my friends being there. Old SCA friends and old high school show choir friends coming together, hanging out the day before and then seeing a decent competition. Some people actually like to be around people. I'm one of them.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to get back on here again, start praising Carmel out of the blue, berate other people's thoughts, and make a complete fool of yourself again. You never change, Scott. It really must suck to be so unhappy all of the time. I wish the best for you. But, I refuse to have these exchanges anymore.
