On behalf of the judges for HOA NYC, thanks to all the groups for amazing shows and wonderful sportsmanship I saw throughout the day!! Thank you to the HOA/MTC peeps, who ran an INCREDIBLE event!! And, to everyone who was in attendance and participated in the Thirst Project "Miracle Minute" to give clean water to those suffering and in need in Africa.....WE SURPASSED OUR GOAL BY NEARLY $300!! Y'all gave $1,593.39, which the people at HOA/MTC MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR....giving us a mind-blowing donation of $3,186.78. What an event, and my sincere gratitude to every person who donated!! God bless, Damon Brown

I don't know if there is a best band caption award, but I could definitely see Broken Arrow getting it at this competition.

John Burroughs always has incredible vocals/arrangements. If Broken Arrow were to take a caption from them, I feel like it would be choreography, not vocals. California groups always tend to do very well at national competitions, so as of now I think a Powerhouse sweep is pretty much guaranteed, but you never know!

Broken Arrow could very well get best band though, especially if John Burroughs is ineligible for having adults, which might be the case.

If anything, the one group here I could maybe see taking vocals off of John Burroughs is Olentangy - they’re having a phenomenal year and have a lot of momentum coming into this contest. Otherwise I can’t see it going any other way than a Powerhouse sweep.

Tiger Rhythm has won Best Choreography off of Los Al before, although I'm a little unclear about how that worked since Los Al won Showmanship while TR won Best Choreo.

I do agree that it will be difficult for Tiger Rhythm to win that caption, but nothing is impossible

At some CA competitions, “Best Choreography” is a caption award given to a group with the most precise, creative, and stylistically appropriate movements. “Showmanship” is awarded to the choir with the highest visual scores overall. I hope that distinction makes sense. I admit it can be a little confusing for someone unfamiliar with SoCal show choir competitions. . (I remember having this exact conversation with supporters of an out-of-state choir at a competition years ago.)

I could see Burroughs being 1st for powerhouse and soundsensations taking second

If I’m not mistaken, HOA competitions do not take groups from the Womens division into finals thus, Soundsensations could not get second over a mixed group. However please correct me if I’m wrong!
