Honestly 2nd and 3rd can go either way based on the last competition they competed against each other. This should be fun.
Past placements and overall opinions of the groups in general. For me, typically, for early predictions I take each groups show from the last year and compare them to see where I would place them.
For the predictions I made
GC- Los Alamitos. I think they are going to win because of their previous placements at national competition. ie FAME Nationals 2015, 2016, 2017, Show Choir Nationals 2016, and HOA Orlando 2018. Especially with no other California schools being there I see them sweeping the competition.
1RU- Center Grove. This choir has been turning it out year after year for awhile. I also placed this choir based on their previous placements at national competitions at show choir nationals 2016 and HOA Orlando 2018. I also just really enjoy this choir. from their tone to their blocking (I stan Andy Haines) this is just one of my favorite choirs, and I want to see them do well. Also I think they're placement at Glenwood will be telling of how this choir will place here.
2RU- Hastings. I switched my 2RU and 3RU since my previous predictions. I think Hastings is going to be blossoming this year with their new director. I am also I really big fan of Hastings tone. The sound that they produce is gorgeous.
3RU- Glenwood. This choir is very competitive in the national circuit. Wins like Show Choir Nationals 2015 and Their win to bemidji last year, and other placements like show choir nationals 2017 this choir is clearly in the running for a great placement. This choirs program has also been growing so amazingly and i love their unique choreography style.
4RU- Findlay. This is a choir that is clearly going to be bringing it to the show choir nationals stage and having more recent experience with the competition i see them doing well here. I think that this choir would be very exciting to watch on the show choir nationals stage.
5RU- Petal. I think this choir is the wild card. After last year with Homewood doing so well at Show Choir Nationals I could definitely see their southern sister doing well here too. I think if the growth this choir has seen from 2017 to 2018 occurs from 2018 to 2019 then this choir will be very competitive on the show choir nationals stage.
I like to follow the trend on considering how they do on a year to year basis, based off their previous placements and how they consistent they are. I also like to consider changes of direction and/or changes in choreographers. I also tend to take state and judging format into consideration. Most of all just have fun with them, predictions are not supposed to be taken super seriously. So if you feel like throwing an upset or two in, then go for it. You never know you could call a huge upset and take bragging rights for calling it.
